Certain songs that go well with certain games

Personally I like to listen to Sabotage (Beastie Boys) while playing Doom, and The Number of the Beast (Iron Maiden) while playing Left 4 Dead 2. I also know a few people who listen to BlazBlue music while playing Brawl.
Any combinations you guys like?

I like listening to F-Zero music while playing most racing games. I typically do better.

But I find that more tactile games, those built around the various forms of art (music included) that create the experience for you should be appreciate as such. Music is a very important element in multimedia forms of art as it usually breathes life into the atmosphere of the world. Sometimes games have feint music or none at all, surmised by sound effects; those essentially become the music. In most cases, I think it is a crime to override a game's soundtrack.

Let me rephrase that—unless a game's soundtrack is composed of licensed music (like most racing and sports games), then don't listen to your own music. Take time to appreciate how the intended original music works in tune with the rest of the game.

I pretty much only listen to my own music if I'm playing a competitive game, mostly FPS and Fighting Games.

Typically I do what Spire said, but there are some exceptions:

While training on MvC3 or SSFIV, I usually have some movie running in the background
Fighting Games, heck usually I don't have sound
When playing Pokemon... or any DS game, I usually have sound off.
When Grinding (like turtle farming on FFXIII), I watch Netflix.

There's no way of going wrong with Eurobeat and (fast) racing games. Initial D should be way more proof of that than ever required.

I usually use a bunch of trance and dnb when I play Wipeout HD. Zone modes are freaking great with custom music.

Other than that, I don't usually listen to non-soundtrack music. I should try doing it with some fighting games.

I actually completely agree with this. That's part of the reason I've slowed down so majorly with my game playing over the past year -- I've grown very attached to listening to my personal library of music, but I feel wrong to just override the standard music of the game, so I end up doing something else entirely so I can listen to my music without doing so. I know the music of TWEWY had a huge influence on my experience with the game, and the Ace Attorney series has great music that perfectly complements the gameplay -- those are just two examples.

However, I tend to compromise -- once I feel I've gotten enough of a feel for a game with its soundtrack, especially if I'm replaying it, I tend to allow myself to listen to other music.

The most significant example of music fitting a game well that I've found is with Mirror's Edge. Pretty much any song by Imogen Heap/Frou Frou works great with that game. "The Moment I Said It" is by far the best song I've encountered for the game, however. First night I heard it, I had it on repeat while playing the boat level and it was the most amazing combination.

Arizona by Kings of Leon goes great with Fallout 3 IMHO, I'm a big KoL fan and alot of their songs go well with Fallout, thats pretty much all I listen to on the rare occasion that I get sick of Fallout's fantastic soundtrack, except for of course the kings of life it's self, The Beatles.
I also find that the Mother 2(Earthbound) and Mother 3 soundtracks go great with any game that is not fast paced, great soundtracks to even better games.

+10 for liking Imogen Heap

I like listening to music while grinding, like it makes sooo much better.
