I would like to start hosting Bi-Monthly Tournaments for the Austin / San Antonio area (and everything between and around) because our tournament scene sucks a fat one.
Hm? Tournament scene sucks?
It does not seem that bad in Texas at all. A tournament every weekend someplace around central Texas (including Houston) for Smash Brawl isn't very bad at all.

I'm talking about Austin / SA. Houston is far east and Dallas is far north. From Austin it is a 3-4 hour drive for both. From San Antonio, you're looking at a 5-6 hour drive to Dallas and a 3-4 hour to Houston depending on how fast you drive and how crap the traffic is.

The point is, we need more here.

YES. Yes yes yes :).

Our tournament scene has sucked ever since cyberjocks closed awhile ago. It would be amazing if you started holding tournaments :).

Ah, more is always good.
So I'm not complaining or anything... sorry if I came off that way ;(

Yeah, finding a good venue is kind of hard in Austin ;(
I've yet to talk to the Double Tree hotel about hosting my next tournament, but thats another story all together, haha ;o

Even though I don't live near there, I'll give my input. The D-Pad sounds better since it already has all the equipment, and plus they already hosted the Brawl Release Tournament you helped with right?

I may have to drive up there for a tournament if you get these started, sounds fun.

I think I've worked everything out with the D-Pad to host them there. They have the equipment (except maybe one or two Wiis), drinks, snacks and tons of nearby food places. I'll post the date of the first two soon.

Rofl Pwny: yeah, I hosted the Brawl release tournies there. That was madness !

Ok, I'm going to do them at the D-Pad. The first one will most likely be June 7th. I'll know for sure by tomorrow.

What do you guys think would be a good entry fee for bi-weeklies? $5? $10? $7? $1337?
There is a huge houston tournament the 7th >_>.

Hmm actually, there is a tournament like every weekend in June so you might as well lol. Or maybe you could do it sunday >_>.

And $10 entry fee is perfect :).

It can mean both, dammmit!

I would like to start hosting Bi-Monthly Tournaments for the Austin / San Antonio area (and everything between and around) because our tournament scene sucks a fat one.

I have been looking at possible locations, and I want to get some feedback from you guys.

Location 1:
The D-Pad
New Braunfels, TX
About 30 min north of SA and 35 min south of Austin.
Plenty of equipment, nearby food, and lots of free used panties.

Location 2:
Texas State University
San Marcos, X
About 20 min south of Austin and 45 min north of SA.
I would have to bring equipment, but San Marcos is a cool place.

If you have more possible locations, tell me and I'll add them to the list. I'll take a poll eventually.

Rules:
Standard Stuff
3 stock, 7 minute
IC Chaingrab not banned
Free spartan outfits

Entry fees will probably be between $5-10 for each event.

If you guys have any suggestions for rules or locations, please tell me and I'll add it. Also, if you're happy/excited/sad/mad/aroused, please let me know so I can get some feedback.
i wonder..........

Changing it to a Sunday won't solve much...

However, I'm looking more forward to LeeHarris tournament more than the Houston one, to tell you the truth (thats if they are both set on June 7th).

Chances are, having 2 tournaments a month, of course there is going to be date conflicts.

But then again, delaying it from a week shouldn't hurt, I suppose...

Pozer, if this event is closer to you than Houton, then plz go. Gas will hit 4$ by next week so there is no sense in driving to Houston when this event may be closer to you.

Plus, Houston is smash central of texas. we will always have tournies. we have 3 planned for june alone.

I may change the IC chaingrab thing, but I'd like to see it in action more. I saw some noob pick it up within a few days and got it off fairly consistently.

What are the dates for the Houston tournies? I can push it back a week if theres a huge one on the 7th.

You gonna have some in july lee?
Definitely!

I'm interested in this. D-pad sounds cool. Is there a venue fee or something? Will there be teams? Melee?
No venue "fee", just a small amount taken from the overall pot for the place. I would definitely like to have teams if time permits. Is there a demand for Melee? I remember at FS3 only like 5 people played in the Melee tourney :(

What percent or amount is a small amount? Teams would be great =)
I'd like some melee casuals at least even if no tourney.

Venue fee makes things a lot easier when sorting out the money.

Too many times have I seen it where the money is taken from the pot to sort the cash, and 1st placer gets screwed.

In general, its always best to have some kind of venue fee.

Mm You think you can give me a map? I've just moved to san marcos, and I don't know the area :p 5$ is a good entry fee. Don't chase away nubs who know they'll lose. Otherwise I might not show up :p I won't pay more than five to get an *** wooping :p. By the way, I Smash 64 ways, Melee all day and Brawl into fall.

Wait..is this a joke?

The entire back room disagrees with what TGM did, and we talked in the car about how it wasn't broken at all, and rather easy to get around...and then you make the rule the same as TGM's?

I am really confused :/.

Also...Port Town?

WTF?

Yeah, I copied and pasted the wrong rules. Lulz. That was the stuff I had from the original bi-weeklies. Well I didn't copy and paste the wrong ones, but I forgot to edit them. And I have no idea how Port Town got in there. Must have copied/pasted wrong.

Port Town is definitely banned. I'm going to secretly add green greens so that I can destroy everyone :p

Oh...Good.

Holy **** I love the stage picks. Halbred on Neutral and Lylat on counterpick makes me happy.
Maybe...too happy?

Hmm didn't notice the Halbred Lylat switch.... I'd like to point out that neutral stages shouldn't be able to attack and kill you...
I can only hope you kid about the green greens thing

Hey guys this is Tony one of the owners of the D-Pad, I would like to thank lee for posting about the tournament. I had no idea that he was gonna do it, I was looking at the other tournaments going on and i saw ours and freaked out. Well I hope everyone comes and has a good time. I have a pretty nasty falco and would like to play some good people. If there are any questions about the store or the tournament please ask.

P.S. 3s MM's for anyone who plays. :p
