I have seen it combo before in training mode.

Also, even if it doesn't combo perfectly it can still be inescapable. If you do it right jumping/fast falling/attacking won't get you out of it.

Yeah!! even if the combometer doesn't count it, there's no way out of it if you do it right.
But I wonder if there's an aerial that gives you some imbicivility frames so that you could counter a Falcon-Punch and manage your way out of it in that way inb4...
gonna take a look again at Fireblaster's Thread.

I've done it before without tap jump so it is possible. Don't remember the percents, but it was mostly about being like frame perfect in your dash forward/jump after the fthrow.

No, but to perform a double uair without making a second jump with a keyboard and no buffering, it's kind of dificult.
But why would you not buffer <_<
Just hold up and press A
Unless you're trying to fastfall, but it's not like you need to do that haha

Or you just go crazy nuts and learn to time the second uair after a ff.

you can thank star king for getting me started down that path. Kb is too legit.

And yeah, what wenbo said. Buffering the uair is quite ez

you never know!!! :p
just to practice to be ready when the time to make a drop platform + uair comes, wich is really useful and is completely doable with no N64 controller, I do it an 85% of the time with a ps1 controller, I'm still working on it.

But we're talking about keyboards ....
What controller your use is like totally irrelevant because it's still a joystick you're using

Also Falcon is dumb enough that you can do Uair chains -> up-b without ever needing to do a drop through Uair ... as useful as it might be ~_~

Woo basic playstyles

Platform drop uairs are still useful with a lot of characters, so I think they're still worth learning to do.

its the same thing I guess, cept there is not much flavor involved. Mafia is always more fun with flavor.

Decisive games on this forum is actually pretty good

so lately i've been getting good with falcon, even better then my mario.

question: horizontial spike/gimp uair pivots, how do they work?

my timing is bad on them, and i'm guessing you just hit them with the tips of falcon's toes but idk.

Falcon has to be diagonally below and in front of his opponent so that the tip of his uair hits.

Best way to practice it is:
- go on training mode vs Pikachu on Dreamland
- put him to around 50-70%
- f-throw -> pivot -> jump -> double jump + reverse uair

That way you'll understand the right positioning for it. (oh and best way to kill Pika btw)

After that you can try any set-ups that lead to reverse uair and practice them because it helps a lot.

That's right!
It depends of the position you do it from.
And Bairs/Nairs are also good combos starters and easy to hit with.

Besides practicing the button movements, there is no extra trick to doing pivots...right?
That and the Run Pivot Ledge Cancel (if puting a name to it) when you cancel your run with a ledge by turning around at the very ledge and doing whatever you want.
I'd say no, there's no extra trick imo.

Any ledge in general.
It's like the Taunt cancel, same thing, but with an attack or whatever you want.

you can jab with fox, dash pivot then turn around jab for doing flashy stuff.

i think you can find many uses for pivots, i think funk uses them a lot more than about anyone else though :p

I think it's more about finding truly applicable uses for it.

Obviously pivot isn't really a hard concept but using it effectively, when it's actually needed /helpful is another thing.

He's the less noticeable character to do that with because of his speed imo...
But Link, that's pretty cool :awesome:

Exactly.

Pivots may be easy, but there are oh so many uses for them that you have to try out and learn, which takes a considerable amount of experience and patience. If anyone wantz private lessons about pivoting just add me on MSN. ;)

So GUYS. Doug's thread is being NEGLECTED. This will not do.

What do you like to do out of Fthrow when you're feeling funky? I always go for the regrab and then try to combo into an Fsmash because Fsmashes are 2cool. Like shuair-Usmash-uairz-Fsmash or something using a DL platform.

Well ... at first I always did fthrow pivot bair combos, but then I had a stroke of genius and realized that you could also fthrow uair.

The rest, as they say, is history.
