Just so you guys know Ill do some math for you to help you see how much a roadtrip would cost you instead of flying.
Its 2168 from San Diego CA to The Church in Southbend IN. So seeing as I don't know what part of San Diego or Socal for that matter you guys are going from I estimated 2350 one way. So round trip we have 4700 miles. Assuming the van gets 15 mpg thats aprox 315 gallons of gas. Times that by 3.50(Estimated again) for regular gas, you get 1100, add that to the 350 for the van we get a grand total of 1450 so lets round it up to 1500 for some of the estimating i did. Divide the 1500 by 7 ppl(Vans typically hold 8 if its 3 across in both back seats.) , But at 7 people we get roughly 215 a person. Now along with the 64 hr round trip, thats about 7-8 days total(including tournament). So 4 days on the road that you have to pay for food, lodging, snacks etc figure you spend at least $25 on food and $10 on lodging a day thats an extra 140 for each of you right there. Putting us at $355.
Now I don't know any of your schedules, so if you were to fly I would assume you fly in a day early(July 11th) and go out a day after(July 15th) Theses are the prices for the Airports I know in Socal:
San Diego-South Bend: 496
LAX- South Bend: 430
SNA- South Bend: 431
ONT- South Bend: N/A on those dates
Now if you combine some of the airports above such as flying out of SNA to SBN and then coming back into LAX gets you down to 423 round trip.
So lets review to fly out of LAX to SBN and stay 5 days, 3 of which are free housing and the tournament, its 430. Where as driving and leaving on the 10th, costs approx $355, if 7 ppl go, and getting back on the 16th. So you will all have to weigh the facts and think if $75(essentially you entrance fee) is worth the driving time and extra work of a roadtrip. At the same time whats more fun then a ****ing roadtrip ?!?!
