I started searching today on the engine that smash was running on and i saw all kinds of things about brawl saying it was running on havok and havok having it on there site in the upcoming games part and it said they were gonna use brawl as in...Havok is the engine in brawl.

Even if you search "Havok physics" or "Havok engine" You see things on brawl so that pretty much tells us brawl is using the havok's engine if its on there site right? Wrong. I recently went on the site and brawl was no where to be found? http://www.havok.com/
Did sakurai change his mind or was havok lying about using brawl? So what is brawl running off of?

p.s. i searched the forums and nothing on this was to be found so sorry if im late T_T

Yeah, I went to Havok's site and I didn't see Brawl in there either. It was kinda dumb, actually, that I spent 20 minutes going in between pages looking for the Brawl tab.

I could have sworn I've seen it there before. Maybe it was put up mistakenly and removed.

Nintendo probably didn't want anyone to know about it as of yet. They're weird like that >_>

It was there, perhaps the Staff requested that they take it down on their site for some shady reason Sakurai concocted.

I could've sworn I saw it earlier. Oh well, Sakurai is one of those people...

He more likely than not has a few Japanese/English speaking agents who check things like popular communities, legal rights, character references and any possible issues. There's really no reason not to since the perspective of fans can easily bring up something they missed.

Who's to say Nintendo gave Havok permission to put it there? Havok might've done it out of pure speculation, and then Nintendo could have contacted them telling them to take it down.
Reasons for this could be:
1. Sakurai doesn't want people knowing that Brawl is running on Havok
2. Brawl isn't running on Havok and Sakurai and Nintendo don't want to give fans the wrong idea

-Pm me about my sig if you're unsure ;] .

Brawl was originally up there.

I remember clicking it and it leading me to the nintendo site. Or something like that.

I'm sure it's just that Havok had Brawl there because it really does use their engine and Havok wanted people to know all the games that use the engine. But Nintendo wasn't ready to release that information and so had them take it off the list. I'm sure Havok knows who's using their engine.

"Havok confirmed for Brawl!! Jubilations!"

But lol, judging the engines specifics, i'm guessing Brawl is running it anyway. Ninty just wants to keep it on the hush low maybe?

it definitely was there this weekend when i went to the site when i was reading Wiki on Smash, and when i got to Brawl i saw Havok engine being used, i remembered hearing Havok and what it actually does, but i had to visit the site to get information from the actual company instead of google.... and it was there, it was removed, it wasn't a lie

yeah... havok engine would be overkill and a waste of money for brawl. Nintendo has the time and power to create their own videogame engines.

This'll sound funny and its a long shot. But maybe one of Sakurai's working mates visit the forum and found out we're obsessive freaks and told Sakurai we had found out some of Brawl's new mechanics, and maybe Sakurai asked them to remove it from their list?

Just so to teek things a surprise for us....

This is interesting... I don't think Nintendo is lying about Brawl using Havok however due to some private reasons they may have requested those at the website to take down that Brawl is using it.

I searched wiki and found out that havok is basically the physics engine. It specializes in allowing characters to interact with items (pika on box). It was first used in a lot of FPS games but now its used in lots of games including StarCraftII. The havok engine also makes things such as smoke (Smoke Ball).

Some interesting notes is that Havok was introduced to the gaming industry in the year 2000 and its headquarters is located in Ireland.

Electronic Gaming Monthly said SSBB uses Havok in one of their issues.

There were two previous threads about having Havok engine for Brawl. So I am sure that it was up there, and I concur for the reason that they want it to be a secret at this point.

Or maybe they were working with it, and at this time they aren't really using the engine any more than their previous one so its not truly a Havok engine?

The havok engine is used in every game nowadays. I wouldn't be surprised if it was used in Brawl. I mean, Sonic The Hedgehog ('06) used it...albeit thats a horrible example, but its still used by it. By the way, it was Max Payne 2 that made the Havok engine popular...not Half-Life 2. They use the Source Engine, which was developed by Valve.

There was SSBB on this Site, but Nintendo dont want it, because Disaster: Day of Crisis was also there and is also removed.

Could have been removed for a number of reasons, but it wouldn't have been there in the first place if Brawl WASN'T using the Havok engine. Also, it's too late in development to change the engine. Probably taken down because Nintendo don't like their fans knowing too much about their games before they're released.

I argee. It seems Sakurai doesn't want to reveal too much information about Brawl.
