Brawl+ keeps freezing...any suggestions?

Hey all, I'm having a problem in that initially the game kept on freezing on me and made a loud buzzing/beeping sound whenever I go to the CSS for versus mode. I'm guessing it can't be the custom music because it was working fine earlier. Then just recently, I couldn't get past the strap loader screen. Right before the intro movie, it froze and had that beeping/buzzing sound again. I'm using PhantomWings File Replacement 3.5.1 and I put it in with the rest of the codes in the .gct file. I'm also using the 4.2 Plusery set (aka the nightly build) if that makes a difference. I've been sifting through these topics almost endlessly for the past two days but came up with nothing. What oh what could it be? :dizzy:

Use the Q&A thread.

/obligatory yet unnecessary rule

Ok, onto the answer. You say you're using the latest nightly build, and you've also added the file replacement 3.5.1. Nightly builds already has 3.5.1, maybe running the same code twice is causing the problem?

Also, the CSS stuff could be you not applying the fixes for some CSS features, making a custom CSS incorrectly (yeah, that can freeze it).

Whoops, sorry about that!

Well actually, I grabbed the .txt file, and was kind of rushing through getting to .gct. I just double-checked and I have ONE file replacement code. I must've accidentally erased it and then put the code back in.

I haven't actually made custom CSS...I only use/get the one from whatever build I download.

Another thing I want to point out (if it helps) is that I'm using the Brawl Custom Song Name Changer tool by Dantarion (and I made sure that the right files were in the right place/directory). Although, the game froze up before I put that info.pac file in my SD card so...

Well then, I'm puzzled.

Try this: download a nightly 4.2 premade GCT, and load it. If THAT doesn't work, you have your answer (it has all the features you mentioned anyway, music included).

And yes, I know you're already using 4.2.

4.2 already has 3.5.1 in it already. I also never have crashes, so I think its a mistake on your end. Try a fresh download and double check your files included on your SD.

If it still crashes, then try first loading only with GCT, then add files in batches to find the problem texture music.

BTW, info.pac freezes the game if anything earlier than 3.5.1 is loaded, and it will freeze the game if something was wrong with your songs.db

I have 4.2 with the latest file patch code and an alternate SSS that Maestro made, and my game crashes if you navigate through anything too fast (menu, end-of-battle stats).

It will also just crash no matter how slow I go after 3-4 matches have been played.

I guess it could be something with textures/music; will the game still work if I remove the file patch code?

CloneHat, you probably didn't activate "Custom Random V1 [spunit262] (10 Lines)" which is connected to Yeroc's CSS as a comment line by "Â*"

So get rid of that and then Code Manager it.

Or a lazier but "slightly more rewarding over time" method is to use BrawlPlusTweaker.

See if that works for you.

Hm...okay, I'll try taking the entire .gct afresh. One thing though, the 4.2 build respawns Luigi's Mansion (albeit at a slower rate). What was the code to make it so that the mansion never appears? I actually don't know the difference between the deadland and level freezer code (and I know that the deadland code isn't in the 4.2 set). Thanks for everyone helping me out!

They removed deadlands in the latest build.

Also, I had to remove my music, because music made everything freeze up for me. But it was perfectly fine without the music hacks.
