Bowser's Revenge 6:
The Return of the Spin

A Project: M 2.5 Tournament

Please Note:
The venue is a family store; moms with kids come in on Saturdays. Try not to curse.
This tourney starts earlier because we need to leave venue by 9PM, so we'll be running things smoothly. If you're going to be late, let me know via text/etc!

Sodas, energy drinks, snacks, and maybe hotdogs available on site. Bring a couple extra bucks so you can be caffeinated out.

When: starts 11AM Saturday, January 19th

Where: FX Game Exchange
3000 Custer Road, Suite 170
Plano, Texas 75075

What: Project: M and Melee Singles and Doubles.

Sethlon’s cell: 832-482-5588

Schedule:
11:00AM Doubles registration and friendlies
12:30PM Doubles start
2:30PM Singles registration
3:00PM Singles Start

Setups: Bring them. FREE VENUE if you bring a full setup that we use for the tourney.

Entry Fee:
Venue: $3 (free if you bring a setup)
Singles: $5
Doubles: $5 per person

Payout:
1st place: 60%
2nd place: 30%
3rd place: 10%

If there are less than 10 entrants for an event, payout will instead be 70/30.

Project M Ruleset:
[COLLAPSE=""]1. 4 Stocks
2. 8 Minute Time Limit
3. Items set to “Off” and “None”
4. Buffer set to OFF
5. Modified Dave’s Stupid Rule: No player can counter pick the stage he or she last won on unless agreed upon by both players.
6. Controller mods of ANY kind (short-hop mod, L-trigger mod, etc), except for cosmetic changes (paint job, different colored plastic), are banned. If you are caught using a banned controller you will be disqualified from the tournament with no refund.
7. In the event of a match going to time, the winner will be determined by:
a. Whoever has more remaining stock left.
b. If stocks of both players are the same, the winner will then be determined by whoever has less percent.
c. If the match ends with both players dying at the same time or if time ran out with both players at equal percent, an identical rematch of the previous match will be played out. Same characters and same stage.
8. Sets will be best out of 3 games. Loser's Finals, Winner's Finals, and Grand Finals will be best out of 5.

Addendum for Doubles
1. Team Attack set to “On”
2. Life stealing is allowed. (Note that lifestealing in Project: M is done by pressing A+B, rather than Melee's start)
3. In the event of a game going to time, the winner will be determined by:
a. Whichever team has more remaining stock.
b. If both teams have an equal amount of combined stocks, then whichever team has a lower combined percent is declared the winner.

Character/Stage Selection Process
1. Blind Picks character selection.
2. Stage Striking: Players eliminate stages from the Starter Stage List until only 1 remains, and the players then play the first match on that stage. Players strike stages in 1 2 2 1 order.
3. The first match is played.
4. Winning player of the preceding match bans two stages.
5. The losing player of preceding match picks stage for the next match.
6. The winning player of preceding match picks character.
7. The losing player picks character.
8. The next match is played.
9. Repeat 4-8 for all consecutive matches as necessary until the set is complete.
*Dave’s Stupid Rule is in effect

[glow]Singles Stagelist:[/glow]

[COLLAPSE=""]Melee will be using the Apex 2013 Ruleset, with the exception of DSR and Wobbling legality

Singles Stage List
Starters/Neutrals:

Yoshi’s Story
Fountain of Dreams
Battlefield
Final Destination
Dream Land

Counterpick:
Pokemon Stadium

Doubles Stage List
Starters/Neutrals:

Yoshi’s Story

General Rules

Items are set to off
Stock and time are set to 4 stock and 8 minutes, respectively
Set will be best 2 out of 3, with all Finals matches being 3 out of 5
Wobbling is legal
Double Blind: If elected
Contest Port Priority: If elected
Neutral Start: If elected
Dave's Stupid Rule will be in effect
Gentleman’s Clause
Forced Character Selection: Off
Matches that time out will be determined by the remaining number of lives, then percentage of the current stock. In the event of a percentage tie, the match should be replayed in full. Sudden Death is not to be played, and will not count. A player/team may not counterpick to the stage they last won on. This includes the first match won via stage striking.
Pausing the game shall only be legal while either player remains upon their OWN respawn platform, and only for the purpose of summoning a tournament official or in the case of a controller malfunction. All other pauses will incur a stock loss to the player who pauses the game.
Any coaching that happens during the match (but not in between matches) is restricted. Players who violate this rule will receive a warning (BOTH the player AND the person coaching the player) on the first attempt. Players who violate this rule after a warning will be disqualified from the event and a possible ejection from the venue.
Players are to attend their matches at the designated times they are called. If you are late to a match, the following rules will be applied based on the amount of time:
If you are 5 minutes late: Results in a match loss
If you are 10 minutes late: Results in a set loss
These times will be strictly enforced to make sure that each player will enjoy the full event on a timely manner.

Additional Rules for Teams Play

Team Attack: ON
Life Stealing is allowed
If the game is paused accidentally while attempting to steal a life, the opposing team may deem that life forfeit. Wait until the announcer has finished saying defeated before pressing start, or turn pause off prior to beginning the match.
How to Play a Set

Players select their characters. Either player may elect to Double Blind
Use Stage Striking to determine the first stage
The players play the first match of the set
Prior to starting this match, either player may elect to Contest Port Priority or Neutral Start. Note: Only one of these two may be used, as both have a built in Port Selection mechanism using RPS. If there is a situation where a player would like to change which option they elected after playing the game of RPS, it is the opponent’s choice to allow it. The results from the previously played game of RPS will carry over.
Winning player of the preceding match bans a stage/stages (if applicable).
For Best of 3 sets, each player gets 1 stage ban.
For Best of 5 sets, there are no stage bans.
The losing player of the preceding match picks a stage for the next match.
The winning player of the preceding match may choose to change characters.
The losing player of the preceding match may choose to change characters.
The losing player of the preceding match gets first pick of port. Either player may elect for a
Neutral Start, but RPS will not be played to determine first pick.
The next match is played.
Repeat Steps 4 through 9 for all subsequent matches until the set is complete.[/COLLAPSE]

Other Rules

1. The Tournament Organizer is the arbiter of all disputes.
2. BYOC (Bring your own controller): Players are expected to bring their own controller and be prepared for every tournament set.
3. DQ Rule: Arriving too late for a match will result in a DQ. Player(s) will have 5 minutes to show up before a loss of the first match. 5 more minutes results in a loss of the set. For doubles, both players on a team need to be present in order to play.
4. MikeHaze rule: No intentionally disrupting players, whether physically or vocally. This applies to EVERYONE, players and spectators. Simply talking to the players (and Hype moments) are exempt.
5. Gentleman's Clause: Any change to the rules is permitted if agreed upon by both players, except for the 8 minute time limit.
6. Dave's Stupid Rule: players cannot counterpick back to a stage that they have already won on in a set.
7. Textures are Cool Clause: We're usually pretty lenient with textures/custom music. You're welcome to bring your set up to the tournament with them, but please do not have any disruptive music, hard to see textures, or dramatically altered character models. If you have a problem with the set up you're playing on, notify the TO and we'll get it resolved ASAP.

Gogo 2.5!!!

Project M stage changelist notes;
Hyrule Castle and Skyworld moved to Banned
Kongo Jungles moved from Changing Stages to Large Stages
Delphino Plaza moved from Banned to Changing Stages

Melee had quite a good turnout last time, so it'll stick around! I know some people were asking about using a different ruleset; would the Apex melee ruleset be preferable over FC-Legacy?

Sethlon, may I suggest one procedural ruleset change?

In Project M, make every set up have the starter stages be on random. At the start of the set, have a player automatically strike all non starters, and from there use the stage striking system.

hurray, Delfino is legal! I don't know if any of my PM characters are any good there, but it has always been one of my favorite stages anyways.

Where's my BR5 results thread yo?
Also it looks like I'll be needing a teammate if Penguin ends up not going.
Tai and his "surprise" teammate for last.

Lol, BR5 was a bit of a train wreck imo. And I thought you and Thoraxe usually team.

I would've liked it if you didn't go into my matches and intentionally disrupt me twice.

Norfair is a dumb stage tbh. The platform layout (especially the top one) feels janky. It could be a counterpick, but the huge top platform just doesn't feel right.

Whining about whining
You're a victim of it too. Just don't intentionally piss me off and we can be fine.

Sorry, I was lazy and didn't make a results thread for BR5. Full results are in the tournament thread though

Make Norfair legal.
I'd kind of like to, but there really isn't anywhere to put it without mucking up the current stagelist. I'll keep it in mind for the future though.

I want to do some random money matches with people. They're ever so fun!

Random characters every match.
Random stages (they can be just the "neutral" stages or more fun ones I don't care).
No repeat characters or stages.
Best of five.
$1-$10.
Melee or PM.

Who's in?

I just found a teammate sorry man. And assault on a minor isn't really my cup of tea. But I think I would be down for a mm if I'm playing a little bit above my absolute worst. Ya know, free money and all.
