Honestly this part sounds like an excuse. That's like saying if something isn't important to you, you don't have to be respectful. Like if a friend had a problem that was really important to them, you'd disregard it and waive it off as nothing important. That'd be called being a bad friend and in this situation it's just being a bad person.
Even if you feel you can't relate to American cultural discussions, that doesn't mean you can start disregarding its subject matter and making jokes out of it. Your "meaning" might've been different (ie. making a related joke) but the subject was no laughing matter.
. . . i think your looking into this to much, or taking this harsher than it really is
Just because i don't understand the reasoning why does not make me a bad person in general and sounds more like a snap judgement if anything
Also if i wanted to be disrespectful i could of started to mock you guys for this tradition of overshadowing.
And waiving it off as nothing important? Its just two damn holidays, that no one in their right mind will actually forget about, everyone will celebrate them and move on, that's it, the end.
And disregarding anything? I've simply made a connection to my friends post. A connection to his joke only which was about our thanksgiving, the only one who put that post into this whole conversation about "American"was you
And finally, everyone makes jokes, about everything, it was a simple thing between two people that had absolutely no offense to anyone and was simply something between two people who understood it. But for whatever reason you decided to pull it into something that I'm not even sure the post can even relate to now.
Figuratively, yes. Literally, no. And I meant it literally.
And you say i use excuses

The last part of your post makes me think that this actually applies to you. I've been using the same tone and style to this point, but your language and syntax is becoming noticeably more caustic.
Just because i don't understand the reasoning why does not make me a bad person in general and sounds more like a snap judgement if anything
Not understanding is not the problem. Not understanding and continuing to be disrespectful anyways is the problem.
Also if i wanted to be disrespectful i could of started to mock you guys for this tradition of overshadowing.
This point was kinda irrelevant. There's more than one way to be disrespectful, you know.
And waiving it off as nothing important? Its just two damn holidays, that no one in their right mind will actually forget about, everyone will celebrate them and move on, that's it, the end.
You're disregarding the importance and the history that goes behind these traditions. That really is a problem. Understanding these kinds of things does matter. I honestly feel like you're grasping at straws now so that you won't have to admit that I made a valid point.
And disregarding anything? I've simply made a connection to my friends post. A connection to his joke only which was about our thanksgiving, the only one who put that post into this whole conversation about "American"was you
At this point, you're just trying to shift the blame from yourself for taking part in this.
And finally, everyone makes jokes, about everything, it was a simple thing between two people that had absolutely no offense to anyone and was simply something between two people who understood it. But for whatever ever reason decided to pull it into something that I'm not even sure the post can even relate to.
Jokes can still be bad and poorly executed. Just because it was in jest doesn't mean it's excusable. If that were true, Weegee wouldn't get negative reactions for when he messes up with the timing of a joke.
And you say i use excuses
That wasn't an excuse. I'm not dumb, thank you very much.

Did you do it for love?
Did you do it for money?
Did you do it for spite?
Did ya think you had to, honey?

Maybe it's because I'm very tired, but why are we arguing again?
Some discussion or jokes about the difference in holidays between Canada and America, I think....lead to this....

I'm honestly just staying out of it for a number a reasons, and the fact that I wasn't sure what the discussion was all about from the start is one of them. And I might be looking at it wrong but to me it looks like it's getting out of hand....

Honestly I have no idea what's going on. Apart from something to do with cultural differences and holidays. Maybe I should go take a nap...

Ha! Does Canada have a state/province/territory that is 1/5th the rest of the nation's size and almost nobody lives there but more than Wyoming! Beat that!

So I got Mario Maker, Shovel Knight (physical copy :awesome: ), and a Yarn Yoshi amiibo today. I haven't played Mario yet, but I did play Shovel Kinght and it's pretty good so far.

Your mention of Super Mario Maker reminds me, I need to update my Christmas list this year.

Not a lot I'm interested in, anymore. ...Well, I'm hoping this coming Nintendo Direct will announce new characters.
