Ok, my favorite (and what I would consider the best games of all time):
Final Fantasy VII,
Chrono Trigger,
Castlevania Symphony of the Night,
Starcraft,
and of course, Super Smash Brothers Melee!

I know there are other great games, but IMO these are the greatest games of all time (there are thousands of games out there that I haven't played, so there is actually no way for me to know if these are actually the best games ever. But until I find a better one, I am sticking with these...)

Edit: it seems I forgot a couple...
Doom and Doom 2 are the best FPS games in the world, hands down!

My favourite video games of all time are Final Fantasy VIII, Final Fantasy X (including X-2, yes, believe it), Final Fantasy XII and Kingdom Hearts II.

...because I'm not a Square-Enix nerd or anything.

I'd have to say, in my opinion, that the best game out there is Final Fantasy Tactics. At least, that's my favorite.

Zelda OoT
Zelda TP
SSB
SSBM
Mario 64
and the best pokemon games ever: red and blue.
that was back when Pokemon was simple.

simple games are the best ones.
oh, and that list is in no particular order.

don't get me wrong: when I say simple, I mean non-complex, as opposed to easy

Paper Mario
Super Mario Land 2: Yoshi's Island
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

It's really hard to choose between those.

SSBM is the greatest game ever made. It is easy to pick up and play, yet very difficult to master. As your skills improve, a character who was once dominant (Roy) will suddenly become weaksauce and vice-versa. (Fox) It is a moderately balanced fighter with no "God tier" characters at any level of play. There are 26 unique characters, each with a unique moveset. Many moves are very innovative and powerful (Peach's dsmash, Mewtwo's disable) without breaking the game. The system itself, whereby you win by knocking your opponent off the stage, is also very innovative, and provides a plethora of new strategies. The comboing system is very well made, and large combos are possible, but the player must react quickly on his opponent's movements, instead of relying on a preset button combination. The game is shalllow and repetitive in a single player environment once the player becomes skilled, but that's like saying LoZOoT had a shallow multiplayer mode. The game is meant to be played with friends for fun, while remaining a viable option for those who wish to take their skills to a competitive level, and the game executes these properties to perfection.
