Neutral Special: Assault Rifle
The Assault Rifle is the staple of any modern day military, and Assault was trained to use one of these bad boys. The Assault will arm himself, if he hasn't already, with the rifle, taking himself .3 seconds to do so. The Assault Rifle fires a burst of 3 bullets each time the trigger is pulled, a process that takes .5 seconds to do so each squeeze. 1 bullet is individually weak, dealing about 2% in damage, but if all 3 bullets hit, it will deal about 5% of damage, with moderate hitstun and little knock back.
Neutral Special : Shotgun
It's highly effect at close range and deadly powerful, just like a real shotgun! All jokes aside, the engineer's shotgun is no laughing matter. The engineer, if he hasn't already, pulls out his shotgun taking 0.4 seconds to do so. Each shot consists of a spread of 12 pellets and each pellet deals a minuscule 2% of damage. Of course following the golden shotgun rule, the closer you are, the bigger the damage. At point blank range, the massive knock back and hitstun can break shields and can cancel out counters, and any one unfortunate to not have any of those two up will be knocked out for .5 seconds. He's unfortunately not armed with one of the cool semiautomatic shotguns, so he has to pump his shotgun after each shot, tanking .2 seconds per pump. Like most fire arms, the shot gun uses ammo, and it's armed with 8 shells and has another 8 in reserve. But like most firearms that use ammo, the shotgun has to reload. The poor engineer has to load each shell in the shotgun, taking .4 seconds to load each shell, totalling 1.60 seconds to reload the whole clip. He's also helpless in this state, or so the opponent thinks. You can cancel your reloading animation and fire the shotgun by pressing the B button.
The shotgun also shares a trait with moves similar to Peach's Vegetable special. Occasionally, the shotgun will fire a 12 gauge buckshot, which is practically the pellets in one character piercing package. The buckshot has a range of 1 battlefield and can penetrate up to 2 players and shatter shields and counters from up to 1 half of a battlefield. For players who have eagle eye's, a visual hint is given in the game. When a green shell is dropped (the shotgun usually drops red shells) it signifies that a buckshot is the next thing to come out of that barrel.
