Just like Wayforward's silence meant Shantae was playable?... I just don't think silence really can amount to much of a proof for anything and at best signals involvement in the event a NDA is truly being kept.

The corruptions were happening on unofficial SD cards, so while that theory can conveniently line up with peoples ideas of like Erdrick and Banjo, it really could have been for any reason.

Those two elements just don't seem like super compelling evidence to me. Especially compared to something like Cuphead on Switch or the Minecraft Xbox Skins on Switch, etc.

Well, the results of the unofficial Smash Ultimate DLC ballot are here, and in a stunning upset, Sora managed to beat out Banjo-Kazooie for first place by a decent margin. Honestly, I'm happy those two are the top two; they're in my top three most wanted fighters alongside King K. Rool.

Idc who got first, the fact that Banjo and Sora are top 2 in those reuslts makes me happy because i want them both. The fact they haven't stopped appearing in polls since even before ultimate's dlc cycle makes me hopeful both communities have been loud enough to get both characters in the game. Crossing fingers we are heard.

Even though Banjo & Kazooie got outplaced by Sora (who I personally am not a fan of honestly, but I can see why people would want him in), the fact that a seemingly ‘dead’ and ‘irrelevant’ franchise that hasn’t had an official game in over ten years and hardly any chance of making it into Smash before recent years is all of a sudden getting not only a resurgence in popularity and topping fan polls and request all the time, but is actually closer to getting their chance in Smash than they ever had gives me just the slightest glimmer of hope! Not enough to truly expect them, since I’ve been burned one time too many in the past, but enough to be proud of them in spite of all the obstacles and forced obscurity they have had to face. Give ‘em hell, Banjo & Kazooie!

Seeing Banjo doing well on fan ballots is nothing surprising. Im more surprised to see Tails so high up to be honest. Jim Carrey Eggman will be the Sonic character we get anyways to promote the new movie, so sorry, Tails fans.

Also a bit surprised to see no Edrick on top. Guess hes just more expected than wanted.

I completely agree. People right now are soured because our past three newcomers were not speculation favorites. Incineroar was the most controversial newcomer for base game, Plant has worn out its welcome for a lot of people, and then you have Joker who while cool was not a big character in smash speculation (as a joker supporter, he had five pages of discussion when confirmed). People forget how Castlevania is a classic franchise. People forget that although they were almost inevitable, people were excited for Inklings. Ridley and K Rool were the obvious super hype additions. Echos we got like Chrom, Dark Samus, and Ken were added just as pure fan service. Even for more casual players Isabelle and Daisy were big additions. Combine that with every vet coming back and I think it’s sad people do not expect some fanservicy dlc.

That being said, I am confident in Banjo right now. Fan service is the name of the game, and he would be a hype addiction. I am excepting a double reveal at E3, which bodes well for the bear and bird.

I really hope Sora’s our supposed Square rep instead of Erdrick. Not that he’s bad, I just think Sora’s a more interesting character than him.

I’m really surprised that Banjo managed to get top 3, and I imagined with the influx of Steve supporters he would have beaten Banjo. Regardless, I’m still pretty hopeful that Banjo would be our 2nd or 3rd character reveal at E3.

I mean, if you open the spreadsheet, Banjo has an advantage of nearly a thousand votes. Let's hope the support means something.

As for Erdrick... I think I've warmed up to him in these past few months. I still think Sora would be more interesting as a character, but... eh.

Honestly, I kinda just wish they would reveal the supposed SE and Microsoft characters (if this is really the case), if only so we could move on to speculating about other characters and companies. That and stop the Banjo-Steve flamewars.

My Squaracter of choice would be 2B or Tifa, but Sora is one of my friends most wanted, so Ill trade 2B if it means I can get Banjo and its a win win for my friend and I. Otherwise I dont really care for Sora at all.

Sora is my "my friend really likes Kingdom Hearts while I find KH confusing and scary, but I could stomach him knowing that my friend is happy"

I mean, one's fate has no real bearing on the other's and you're right, it's just another random and pointless poll. Clearly if I had to choose just one of them, I'd choose B-K, but at this point in the game I'm a little tired of rushing into each and every fan poll like we still have something to prove. Obviously we don't lol.

Honestly Facebook is the last place you want to get any sort of character recommendations from.

and Twitter is really pushing it.

Most people know fan polls on those sites really don't matter. There is a reason a lot of people add rules like "ONLY VIDEO GAME CHARACTERS" because we all know people will vote Spongebob, Shrek, and Goku to the top of the list. Or "my character is so obscure might as well put my vote in for a character that actually has a chance". In reality there will always be a bandwagon effect for any character. Especially if people think the character has a chance. So people will be more inclined to vote for a more likely character then their most wanted. How many people voting for Banjo actually want Banjo and it's not because "He seems more likely and I don't like the alternatives"

In general, never use popularity (whether be on Facebook, Twitter, Smashboards, etc.) in both the general Smash and Nintendo communities as a major measuring point or sole factor to determine a character's likelihood of joining the roster. Popularity is a factor, but it varies from pick to pick. A character like K. Rool and Ridley can arguably have popularity as a major factor for their inclusion, but for a character like Cloud, Incineroar, Wii-Fit, Joker, etc., it is clearly not the big factor for their inclusion.

I'm dead pleased for Banjo, Geno, Rayman, Crash and Tails being so highly wanted. Especially Tails, didn't see that coming.

But damn do I wish Dixie Kong had more popularity than she has, I assumed post K. Rool reveal she would upsurge in popularity but apparently not. Seeing Hollow Knight above her just feels off man.

It's some sort of crime how we get Joker and Bayonetta before any sort of secondary Sonic character. Even Shadow, the most obvious echo next to Ken, doesn't make the cut. I'm starting to think Sakurai hates Sonic characters.

Considering how all the third parties outside of Sonic, Megaman and Pac-Man are human. It might be less not liking Sonic characters are more just wanting to make more Human characters.

even though some of these characters didn't make it in the Top 18 i'm glad and relief that people are still supporting Fawful,Paper Mario,Dixie Kong,Wonder Red,Chorus Kids,Karate Joe,Ninten,Masked Man,Viridi(though i don't like her nowadays),Eggman,Klonoa,Lloyd Irving,Leon,Amaterasu,Professor Layton,Quote,Frisk,and Heavy from the poll,plus Shy Guy made it there. guess after Piranha Plant, he seems to have gain so much support.
