I didn't find anything about banjos being brave in any kind of culture...
But I DID find out that in the Native American culture, bears represent bravery. Considering some of the Native American themes in Banjo-tooie (mainly Humba), it could have some weight behind it.

I mean that just makes more sense to me, honestly. But I'm still taking Banjo being Brave with a grain of salt. Brave could literally mean any video game protagonist honestly. I'll be holding out hope until Sakurai either confirms or deconfirms the beloved backpacking bear and bird buddies for Smash, hopefully the former turns out to be true and we can finally breathe a sigh of relief and scream out in ecstatic joy!

This new idea would make more sense than jumping from roots in old stories or cool references, straight into "let's directly-translate his name" in my opinion.

Keep in mind that I found "strength" more than "courage" and "bravery" as to what bears represent, but as long as bravery is there, it all works out for me.

Just a friendly reminder, should another character than Banjo be announced at E3, Banjo could still be announced at the VGAs a year after Joker's reveal. If Banjo were not to be announced, I can lowkey imagine Crash Bandicoot getting dropped.

It makes just as much sense at E3 because of the crossplay between Nintendo and Microsoft lately. And the fact that they are both completely taking the spotlight at this year's E3.

Yeah but this wait and anticipation is already driving people nuts, including me, so if they end up not getting announced at E3 as one of the two Fighter Pass characters, I'm gonna be very sad and disappointed. But I guess I should be used to waiting for some news about the bear and bird only to lead to disappointment, so I'm not gonna be expecting them at all, honestly. This is gonna be a long month though, lol, and I personally will be upset if Crash gets announced before Banjo & Kazooie. Its bad enough the likes of Cloud, Bayonetta, and Joker were able to get in before them.

Well, the results of the unofficial Smash Ultimate DLC ballot are here, and in a stunning upset, Sora managed to beat out Banjo-Kazooie for first place by a decent margin. Honestly, I'm happy those two are the top two; they're in my top three most wanted fighters alongside King K. Rool.

I'm still thinking that Banjo is in, is because of Rare's silence about Nintendo right after the smash direct of November 2018 and the speculation about Banjo using Duck Hunt as a base because playing as Duck Hunt or Mii Swordfighter in century smash in 2.0.0 and above can cause save corruptions in certain sd cards.

The ones who voted steve the most are either from 4chan or bandwagoners who just want us banjo fans to lose

That's possible but it feels crummy to downplay his popularity as if barely anyone likes him, you're making an assumption. Though I don't doubt some of the trolls did vote for Steve; this feels very bad that a character is deemed troll-worthy by the way, someone mod Sonic's new design in Smash heheh.
Steve in Smash got a good amount of upvotes on the Minecraft subreddit, and people on Miiverse wanted him.

The lack of Dixie Kong on that poll is the greatest crime. I don't care whether people feel satisfied with DK representation. By her own merits, she is one if not the most important Nintendo character not in Smash yet.

Orrrrrrrrrrr he's an iconic character that got a lot of votes.
The actual realistic scenario as is. The twitter is more able to get reception from hardcore gamers to begin with, so of course we won't usually see the results with casual voters taken into account. All it shows, really, is that he's not as hated as people try to make it look like. He's just a popular character that not all like.

Definitely a case of most. Must be "25 of more votes", cause the one I voted for isn't listed(not that I expected my pick to have more than 1-4 votes at most, but yeah).
Paper Mario and Reimu took spots 19 and 20 respectively.

I'm still happy we got 2nd place, Repeating 1st is hard to do and sometimes I feel like previous 1st place winners then have a bounty on their head to not repeat 1st place, But considering Banjo-Kazooie is a dead franchise that's past it's prime, I'm more impressed they managed to get 2nd place than the 1st place winner who just got a release earlier this year and can piggy back off of Disney branding for exposure advantage.
It's great to see Banjo-Kazooie constantly putting up a fight on and coming out on top of various voting polls.

Between this poll and the SSF2 update video. This has been a good few days for Sora. Also Banjo claiming second is good to see though I wish the spreadsheet of results had left in the 35% of votes they cut. Would have made the results more worthwhile.

Probably Nintendo just stealth drops a teaser trailer on their Youtube channel for fighter #2 sometime this month.

I can honestly imagine a segment during Nintendo's E3 presentation where they pass things over to Sakurai and talks about some added changes to the game or modes showing off gameplay footage and stuff then at the end Sakurai is on his table moving things around and saying
"Oh is it already over? Sorry, I was keeping busy by working on this puzzle and I'm almost done, But it looks like I'm missing just one piece."
(Showing the Smash roster mural with an empty spot, Then zooming into the empty spot followed by the screen turning dark then cutting into the Smash logo screen slash that's used to reveal new fighters for a few seconds followed by the Banjo-Kazooie reveal trailer.)
Then at the end when they show the Smash roster mural with the empty puzzle spot it gets completed with the Bear & Bird followed by the black screen with copyright characters from all major companies and the last one at end shows

If by some crazy miracle these top four filled out the rest of the pass, to me it would be one of the best possible outcomes ever. Although I'm not too keen on BWD and would personally prefer like a Spyro or a Darkstalker there instead (yes, my age is showing. Leave me alone lol) , I also recognize his uniqueness and appeal and know there are far worse choices that could be there instead. This is the closest I've ever been to feeling like other fans think like me XD
