This would never happen but in the chance it did, how would you guys as Banjo fans feel if Conker made it in before Banjo or any other Rare character? I don't know I'm just curious to learn about the relationship between Banjo fans and Conker. Would he be a respectable choice like Master Chief?

I'd be 100% ok with conker over banjo. They're in the same boat after all. Two characters that have so much potential but are ultimately held back by their company

But I also think that's why Smash has so much massive appeal because you have all these different characters from different world and aesthitics colliding compared to some regular fighting games that have most characters looking kind of similar.

Killer Instinct kind of has that same feel too though, While the characters had the same art style and vibe, But the cast is outrageous, I mean you have a Half mechanical Raptor, Skeleton Pirate, Sub Zero Alien, Killer Cyborg and Werewolf going at it which makes it the that much more awesome.

I will always see Banjo and Conker as two halves of the same coin, as equals. The only reason they aren't seen as equals by some is due to popularity. Banjo just happens to be more popular of a franchise than Conker. Asides from that, they both debuted in Diddy Kong Racing and have appeared in the exact same number of games. They also both have their share of cancelled games, and the two even get merch at the same time (they both got new figurines last year from Totaku). As iconic as Battletoads is, Banjo and Conker to me will always be the two main faces of Rare.

There's also that one commercial where Conker pulls a chainsaw on Banjo

I do hope Nintendo plans to do a mini direct sometime during the start or middle of April. Feels kinda cruddy that Atlus dictating how Nintendo releases their smash news. If anything they can have a direct before the later half of April to reveal the Spring update, possibly a solid release date for Joker and pack 2 reveal. Then Joker drops end of April and we can all either dance at a Banjo reveal or hold off farther.

While I do think Master Chief is the more obvious Microsoft rep given his iconic status, given their history with Nintendo and my bias towards them, Banjo & Kazooie are my first choice and Conker would be my second. Conker fits the Smash mold, but would offer some crazy gameplay mechanics. Also, I've always loved the idea of Conker in Smash whipping out a ****ing chainsaw.

Isn't it a little odd that the supposed release window for Joker was taken down when Atlus announced info for P5R would be near the end of April? It just seems a little confusing. I hope I'm wrong and we hear about something soon. Just seemed to be too weird to be a coincidence. It's possible Sak's is taking more time to get Joker out.

This. Say what you want about yooka, but at least playtonic seems to give a **** about banjo. That's a lot more than I can say about Microsoft and current Rare. Im more than willing to let playtonic redeem themselves.

I would be cool and excited with Conker as he would be my 2nd choice for a Rare newcomer, I'd be lying if I didn't tell you that I would kind of be disappointed, Not because Conker isn't a great character ,But because (With all due respect) Banjo-Kazooie is pretty much the defacto mascot for Rare (Conker in my opinion is 2nd ,But we can both agree that they are Rare's 1-2 Punch brand wise, I mean look at Rare Replay's Box art and intro) and is their most biggest, popular and successful original IP, I mean BK had 3 "Major" games even though Nuts & Bolts didn't sell as well as the first 2.

While Conker really only had 2 "Major" games and one of them is a remaster of the other and that while they are cult fan favorites, They didn't exactly sell well.

It would be like if I ordered Pepperoni Pizza and they sent me Sausage, I was expecting and wanting Pepperoni, But I would still be happy with and eat the Sausage Pizza.

So what exactly happened with joker today?

Nothing really. That pretty much says it all - no major announcement at the end of the tournaments today. The wait continues, and I continue to procrastinate by falling into the puzzle hell that is Puyo Puyo.

But in all seriousness, I think something will be announced for Smash within the first week of April - maybe an announcement for a Smash Ultimate 3.0 update that finally reveals Joker's moveset and stage (very likely to be Mementos - kinda disappointing cause it's not the Casino), the other content alongside the 3,0 update in Stage Builder and Home-Run Contest - maybe some new photo filters for fun, maybe some more Spirits added, and maybe some Mii Costumes revealed, and then end it off with a teaser for the next fighter.

I just think Minecraft works better as a stage/assist than a character, and I'd be personally upset if Sakurai/Nintendo chose Steve over Banjo & Kazooie. While it's nice to have characters that don't seem to fit with your typical Smash characters, there are characters like Banjo & Kazooie that fit too well to be overlooked.

And that's still nothing compared to what Guyver fans have to go through. Especially since that one scanlator group has/had embargo on the manga for nonsensical "support the creators" reasons.

To my mind, the most scream-slash-tear-inducing possible sequence of events for a reveal trailer would be the Smash opening wipe, then a pan down from the sky, an old banjo being tuned, failing to start its melody, until it finally manages to kick into that classic tune as the camera reaches Spiral Mountain and the bird and bear come into frame.

Tooie was the main cornerstone of my childhood, both have a very special place in my heart but Tooie just seemed like a more souped up, better version of Banjo-Kazooie to me when I was little. I've heard that intro so many times, I'd instantly start screaming and then proceed to cry whenever they pop up on the screen. I can't literally believe Banjo & Rare MIGHT be coming back in some shape or form to Nintendo. I feel like a kid again when it's December and your waiting for Christmas Day to finally open your presents. (I'm also real excited for Joker as well, so that's the hype for me now. Just in case you know, all this is a dud)

The problem with set decorations, is there are too many countervailing examples. I feel like Skull Kid on Reggie's desk was the most obvious, and that turned out to not lead to anything.

However, the resemblance to Banjo & Kazooie was really odd, and is still odd looking back at it in the sobering reality post-Ultimate. I literally cannot see anything other than Banjo & Kazooie in that image--but given it's subjective nature, I wonder how much of that is like a Rorschach test.

What if the yellow thing on the bottom are text, the orange redish thing is kazooie but outside of banjo, and banjo is doing something like a random pose?

I remember bringing this up months ago personally I want the duo skydiving downwards while yelling and crashing into the floor, Then getting up really quick while shaking off the slam and dusting themselves off and doing a "Ready to Fight" pose with both Banjo and Kazooie saying their iconic "Gu-huh !!!" and "Breee !!!"

I want the entrance to give off the silly, wacky and goofball personality the series and characters have and have the feeling that came outta of nowhere, literally gone for years and have finally returned on a Nintendo console.

The only problem is that they really only have like 3-5 seconds to pull it off before the announcer says "Go !!!"

Master Chief has your standard guns and grenades, but there's also a lot more you can add to his moveset. There's the Energy Sword which could act as a melee weapon, and many of the vehicles from Halo could be incorporated into his moveset as well.
