yeah if there was any smash game banjo kazooie where going to be apart of then it should be the EVERYONE IS HERE smash game otherwise whats the point ? if simon belmont & a piranha plant can be in the ULTIMATE smash game but not banjo that says a lot about how nintendo & sakurai feel about him not important enoght to be considered part of nintendo history heck the next smash could only have 20 characters & play completly diffrent for all we know sakurai might be like well i made this ultimate smash with everyone whats next? oh something new & diffrent

Banjo should of been in base game the fact he is not is a crime IMO
It makes more sense for them to be DLC imo, easier to split up revenue and I can see Banjo selling a ton to younger kids because of the animal design.

Welp there’s nothing

Goodbye
Come on man, no offense ,But You gotta quit flip flopping so much, I see certain fans on this thread who believe in certain leakers and then go "I give up, I'm outta here, It's not happening, Good bye" being all dramatic and then retracting their statement shortly afterwards like nothing happened, Kind of annoying.

I have to agree with OptimisticStrifer; if there DOES end up being another Smash game after Ultimate, then there's an INCREDIBLY good chance that they won't be able to pull a repeat of "Everyone is Here", which is what makes Ultimate so special. As a result, unless by some miracle they DO manage to bring everyone back for the next one, whatever game comes after it won't feel nearly as special, even if Banjo-Kazooie are there.

Could you imagine if Banjo gets announced at the VGAs and is part of the day 1 patch o.o

Then let's hope rather for a Wave 2 or Wave 3 of DLC to include Banjo-Kazooie if they aren't part of the first five. This Smash Bros. is still releasing pretty early in Switch's lifespan, they could make it a platform to last for many years to come through DLC and patches. We'll, see, but that could be our (and every other fanbase's) best shot.

But y'know, I feel really good about Banjo-Kazooie for the initial five, if just for those Blast Corps and Jet Force Gemini Spirits in the code.

Although I do think they could maybe get everyone back if they do a port; which I would be totally fine with and it would be more fiscal than building it back up from the ground again. And TBH; Ultimate will be good enough to buy again lol.

Couldn't have said it any better, Back in Smash Wii U when "Supposely" Bayonetta won the ballot (Even though it looks like King K. Rool may have won it), I was very disappointed that it wasn't Banjo-Kazooie or King K. Rool, But looking back it really worked out for the best, They save some of the best reveals for Ultimate which is has so much more hype and exposure because it's on a successful platform that is the Switch and King K. Rool's Komeback, hype and Smash debut wouldn't have been as big of a deal as DLC on Smash Wii U. So I'm glad it turned out the way it did.

Sorry if this has been asked already/is a bit dumb, a bit new to this thread, but couldn't those be signs that stuff was just cut instead of it pointing to Banjo DLC? Don't get me wrong I want Banjo to be in more than anything but idk I feel like it could be another cut content thing like from 4

If 3rd-party content is worked on but then cut, then it'll probably come later after release.

I guess another thing to add (at least, from my personal perspective), is that I'm going off on the idea that this upcoming Fighter Pass is the only DLC we'll be getting. Now, I admit I could be wrong; they could at some point down the road announce a second one, and I would be completely fine with that. However, for the time being, I'm not going to be betting on there being more than one Fighter Pass, especially because I don't want Sakurai to be overworked.

Thats fair, Personally I don't expect there to be a second fighter pass either, but who knows.

Agreed on the Sakurai thing also, the man needs a break.

I just support agumon becouse he is my dream character.

But i can't post about him on the discussion topic becouse people , for some reason , hate him.

They said i "just post about agumon" , and its a lie, you can search my messages if you want.

And even so , i can talk about Agumon 100% of the time if i want , this is not against the rules of the board.

But for some goddam reason , some people HATE to read about agumon there.

Random Agumon from nowhere in a Banjo topic, haha.

That said, I'd love Agumon. But I grew up with Digimon and looooved Rumble Arena.

Right now I'm not sure that anyone really knows what the extent of what this could mean. Could be something as silly as Nintendo not realizing they don't own the franchise (though this is unlikely), something that's in development, something that was cut completely, or something larger like being content associated with future DLC fighters.

That all said, it's significant because it's 3rd party, specifically Rare. If Nintendo tried to make a deal with Microsoft and it fell through, I imagine Rare wouldn't want *any* content in the game, even so much as names that should have been scrubbed. So their presence is something to hold onto as hope, in my opinion.

But you're right, it could mean a multitude of things, including simply cut content with no intent of ever being added.

If I had to pick a Digimon for Smash it's Agumon hands down he's my favorite followed by Gabumon.

I'm confident in Banjo being DLC and I will be until they reveal that last DLC character. My hope for Banjo will never fade. He's my last really big want.

I'd have Yoshi, K. Rool, and Banjo my 3 all time favorite video game characters. I'd be content the only other character's id want beyond that is Dixie and Ganon (piggy form from ALttP).... but they're not "needs" for me..

Thanks for going a bit more indepth with it!

I really hope this means Banjo is in though, I grew up with those games and love all of them to death. Going to keep my expectations low though, don't want a repeat of the grinch thing.

Are there any other series (Nintendo-owned or otherwise) listed in the files that don't have spirits? Going by earlier statements that Nintendo owns the trademark to the Japanese title of JFG and might have the same situation for Blast Corps, it might not be unreasonable that a dev was simply going through a list of Nintendo trademarks and adding entries for all of them, not really thinking enough about it to realize BC and JFG shouldn't be there. We've all made dumb mistakes like that at some point.

I do hope it means potential Banjo DLC, but I'm not getting my hopes up too much.

From what I've seen JFG and BC are the only ones with files but no spirits. I could be wrong about this though.

I'm just glad that hope for Banjo-Kazooie is alive and well. Would be so incredibly cool if there was something at the VGAs, though we can't go in with those expectations, of course, we've got a whole year and a few months more of speculation for these DLC characters, we shouldn't be rushing this out the gate... and hey, who knows, there's still next year's VGAs too! Hah!

This year would've been perfect though, considering the 20th anniversary, but eh, development and timing of things don't always match up, in fact, they more often than not don't.

Same to all of your points! I've wanted Banjo forever but since he left Nintendo's property I always sort of assumed he never stood a chance. Since Smash 4 DLC brought out Cloud, Ryu, and Bayo (though she's sorta like 2nd party now), I realized that he did stand a chance.

I wanted to believe the Grinch leak, I really, really did. I still think he has a chance now as DLC, but there is a fair amount of facts against such as him being a main competitor's third party, fallen out of relevancy from not having any recent games, and a general shift in popular game genres so that today's younger player base having no idea who the character is. *THAT SAID*, he does have a pretty large appeal to most older players our age (late 20s / early 30s), and he's a character design that would appeal overall.

This is completely my opinion, but I sort of expect the Fighter Pass to have:
1-2 Advertisement characters for upcoming games.
2-3 Third Party characters
1-2 Fan favorites, pulled from the results of the prior official Smash ballot.

Given all of that into consideration, I think that as long as Nintendo and Rare wants to play nice, they are very possible to make it.

Of course, that's just me hoping and I'm not going to expect it because yeah, Grinch leak disappointment and all, haha. *cries in Banjo*

Upside is the game is looking absolutely great and I'm gonna be happy either way, but man, wouldn't Banjo be nice?

Never believe a text leak. On top of that, never ever believe a text leak that's explaining a trailer's sequences in detail. It's always some bored kid's daydream.
Furthermore, don't believe a text leak that starts in lowercase letters or have bad grammar.

Seriously, not everyone that works in the industry has skipped out on fourth grade.

There's also trying to push for a wave 2, in which case, even more chances to hope for good things.

Hello everyone, so I’ve been a bit hesitant for a while to join in, but now that I’ve finished playing through the series and started to formulate some ideas on their representation in Smash, I wanted to come in and say that I’d like to voice my support for Banjo-Kazooie. Can I be added to the support list?

I agree with you on what the break down could look like, it would make sense if Nintendo is picking.

Imo for advertisements the two I'm thinking are Sylux and Elegard. Sylux because of his lack of a spirit or reference color in samus or dark samus's pallets and MP4 being soonish(though that may just be the metroid fanboy in me talking) and maybe a character from Fire Emblem three houses (hopefully Elegard or whatever, she uses an Axe and thats something we don't have in smash).

For third parties my list is gonna seem a bit weird, but I'm thinking our Bear & Bird, a DQ/random square rep, and Leon from Resident Evil. Banjo because of the things like JFG and Blast corps, radio silence on anything involving banjo in smash since june from rare and Phil Spencer, and just my own personal hope. DQ/square in general is kinda in the same boat Ken was before his announcement where no matter who leaked it he was there. Leon is kinda a weird choice but bear with me here. RE4 is getting rereleased on the switch, Capcom and nintendo have a huge history, capcom seems to be cool with nintendo using their characters for whatever (having Megaman die in the Ridley trailer and letting Ken get beat by Incineroar in that trailer), and RE4 was originally a gamecube exclusive for a short while.

And Agreed on your last point, this game is already looking pretty damn amazing.

I haven't played the Prime series but Sylux to me just looks like a lame Dark Samus. I know that's unfair of me and if I played the game they were part of I probably wouldn't feel that way, haha. Edelgard could make sense, but I'm not sure that she's even the main character of the upcoming game, not that it matters. I actually would really like Adeleine if we're talking about missing Spirits, but only because she has a paintbrush and I like the idea of fighting with colors, haha.

Honestly I'm not sure how I feel about the few characters that were left out as Spirits. Sure, they could be planned as DLC, or they could just like, have been left out. Maybe they'll be added as Spirits later if there are other types of DLC. *shrug*

Would a Resident Evil character be fun if they didn't have realistic firearms or overly violent movesets? (Which I'm almost sure won't make it into Smash.). I've played some RE games but without their guns and violent zombie killing, the characters seem pretty boring. They work in MvC but that game has a bit higher of an ESRB rating. But hey, I'd be cool with them.

Honestly I'm cool with absolutely any DLC character. More is more, haha. I've always loved animal characters in a non-furry way (to each their own though, no judging), so I'd love it if Banjo, Spyro, Chocobo, or any other animal like character makes it, haha.

Chocobo would be pretty cool, it'd be a good "wtf" character for the fighters pass.

A RE character could probably keep some weapons, since Snake gets rocket launchers and Bayonetta gets to keep her guns. But at the same time who knows, I doubt we actually get a RE rep.

Sylux is... weird. We don't know much about him except he has a broly like hatred for the space government and samus. His weapon set could be unique though and him seemingly being set up to be the prime 4 villain would make sense for him to get in.

Overall I have to agree with you though, I'd be fine with anyone as DLC since I know Sakurai would make them fun to play.

I don't understand this "needs a break." His job is to make games. Do I get a break from my job?

People are just being sympathetic, I mean the man devotes everything to these games, to the point where he put his own health at risk.
But once the game is out, if he only has to focus on DLC here and there, it will be a much lighter load for him to handle.

DLC is always less intense than base development if only for the amount of content being delivered. I still firmly believe Banjo is the most likely name for the pass at the moment.

Yeah I feel like after K Rool, Simon Belmont and Ridley finally made it in, Banjo is like the last big fan service character left who still needs to make it in. Sure there’s Geno and Isaac, but Banjo feels like top priority

Not sure if this would tilt things in our favor, but apparently, the Let’s Go games are getting Spirits as post launch content.

For those who can’t see the image, those are spirits of Pikachu and Eevee in their Let’s Go forms.

So would this damper or strengthen the Rare spirits arguments?

I say strengthen, it only confirms that they can (and probably will) add more spirits in the future (including Rare spirits).

Well, in the very least it shows that they are up for adding other content other than just the Fighter Pass. So it could mean that a Minecraft addition or Rare package or something. I think it doesn't really change much in the way of Banjo's chances, but it doesn't lower it at all.

Definitely strengthens imo, shows that we'er going to get more spirits as time goes on. Which means that the JFG and BC spirits can get added in if Banjo becomes DLC
