Favourite Kirby NPC who is not a mook would be Magolor. Helps that all his battle have über cool music.

Including mooks, it's Knuckle Joe. RIP

Honestly, I agree. I just like referring to Meta Knight in that manner, it entertains me.

As for what he said to get them to join him, I don't know... The thing is, we don't know if Sailor Waddle Dee was a defector, or just a wildcard. If the former, it stands to reason that he would join Meta Knight. If the latter, perhaps he just wanted something more interesting than the lazy lifestyle that most Waddle Dees seem to be content with.
He is a sailor, so I think it would stand to reason that maybe he was drawn towards the Batman with the giant overkill battleship.
I don't remember, but wasn't it said that the Waddle Dees only help Dedede because he gives them food or something?

I think that was stated in the anime, so we don't know how true it is to the games.
Also, does anyone have a picture of an alpine hat wearing Waddle Dee from Triple Deluxe? I swear, they are so cute but I can't find a picture of them.

That makes perfect sense, honestly.

I don't remember it ever being said in game canon. I think the funny thing there (and I wonder if I'm the only one who's noticed it), is that you can infer that in spite of being a greedy git, Dedede seems to be quite well-liked by the populace - after all, when Kirby goes on the attack (and we can't deny that it was well-deserved in the first game, and in the first game alone*), an awful lot of the kingdom's residents step out to try to stop him! (It's this that sometimes makes me wonder if Dedede was actually adopted by Waddle Dees, and was spoiled a bit because he's the only penguin like him around. It's one of those things that I'd love to know.)

*Obviously it's warranted during Dark Matter invasions, too, but that's a totally different... ahem... matter.

I think that was stated in the anime, so we don't know how true it is to the games.
If it's from the anime, chances are it's non-canon, as that was intended as a separate continuity (hence why everything is so out-of-sorts and everyone is so out-of-character).

I really like Sailor Dee, he does stand out to others, as he is not lazy like most waddle dees. He is the first waddle dee to be show speaking, showing that Waddle dees can think. And his bravery is notable as he stuck with Metaknight even as the Halberd was crashing and burning, while Captain Vul ran like a little *****!

Hence why all the 'Original characters' suck! Such a missed opportunity, should have made the anime based of the games...

Home... where else would I be?
I have a new question: What was your first Smash game, and where did you first hear about it?

For me, it was Brawl, and I first heard about it from a friends, before I started watching videos of it and thought it looked really fun, and ordered it on Amazon. (took about a year to get good at it though)
My first Smash game was Super Smash Bros. Brawl, since I was still new to gaming, I didn't many of the characters. I was so hyped to see Mario, Kirby,Pikachu, and Sonic in the same game. (I used to worship Sonic, so seeing him in the game made me squeal.) I first heard of it on the Smash Dojo.

Hi everyone!
I was on vacation in Vietnam so I didn't check here much.
Anyway, now that I'm back, I can finally buy Kirby Squeak Squad on the Wiiu! Can't wait.
Then I have to try out the new Splatoon update.
Then download the Smash content.
Omigosh, I have so much to do.

Also my first year anniversary on Smashboards had passed earlier. Yay.:bluejump:

I mean, can you blame them? Though he may have his negatives, Dedede seems to place the well-being of his "kingdom" before his own. Whether he does it out of genuine concern or Vegeta Complex where he thinks he's the only one allowed to bring misfortune to his kingdom, I don't know.
Aside from his rather out of character actions in the first game, he doesn't seem that bad of a "ruler." Using "ruler" loosely because we don't know if King Dedede really is a king or not.

Going by how he's about the biggest softie in the wider Nintendoverse (I mean, he cries at the end of Kirby 64 ), I'm guessing it's out of genuine concern.

He's just a bit selfish, really, hence my wonderings about him having been a bit spoiled at some point, since he steals everyone's food, and still the populace turn out to defend him from Kirby.

Officially, he's a self-declared king (the first hints of it were dropped in Kirby Air Ride, and since then they've trickled out a few more with more clarity, before reaching this current point where it's just outright stated that he's a self-proclaimed monarch). Whether this counts for anything, I don't know (EDIT: Actually, Kirby Air Ride poses the question, "Is he really a king?", so I guess it may not!). It certainly seems that nobody minds him being such, though!

He also tackle-hugs Kirby at the end of the Subspace Emissary.

Well, you saw what he did to the Squeaks when they took his cake. They were kind of in the right. They had no idea what Kirby would do to Dedede over food.

Honestly, he doesn't seem like much of a king, aside from the regal aspect. Taranza just waltzed into Dedede's castle and kidnapped him without so much of a fight. I really would like to know where Bandanna Dee was when that happened.

This is the other fuel for my wondering about his origins - he just does so much that's unbecoming of royalty.

It seemed to be early in the morning, so perhaps he was still asleep? Occasional trouble aside, it probably gets kind of boring in Dream Land.

Maybe he was running errands in the morning (the sun was to high to look like early morning, I would say about 9 - 11 am) the waddle dee that coward at the back and was too scared to try and stop Taranza, must have alerted Bandana Dee shortly there after. That is what I think.
But the question is, how does Bandana get everywhere Kirby is going before Kirby gets therethere?!! He must be tougher than I thought. How did he get through the mazes and portals and enemies in Royal Road!? BEFORE KIRBY?! O_O

Bandana Waddle Dee is determined and loyal - he may very well have been embarking on a rescue effort of his own!

1. He isn't a mass murderer like Kirby, so that saved him some time.
2. Because he isn't bound by the rules of being a playable character, he can just fly over everything.
3. He's more motivated than Kirby.

spoiler, the final boss, if you want to read press the button
The the chest is snatched by Meta Knight, and kirby tries to find it, after he beats Meta, Daroach snatches it, he opens it and is possesed by dark nebula, after fighting him, you follow nebula, who is a dark matter, and kill him in a few seconds, he's pathetic, dark daroach is really hard though.

Essentially, the driving point of Squeak Squad is Kirby going bat**** because the Squeaks stole his cake. After beating down Meta Knight (and several others), for being suspected of Grand Theft Shortcake, he sort of ends up fighting darkness itself reincarnated. All over one slice of cake.

Can't help but feel sorry for King Dedede and Meta Knight. All they have is Dream Land's best interests at heart, and they keep getting unjustly beaten down by Kirby.

Dedede genuinely did nothing malicious in that game. If someone comes up and starts attacking you over cake, you are going to defend yourself. The only truly malicious characters in that game are penultimate and final boss, penultimate only because of possession by final. Daroach can be considered Kirby's Dream Land 1 King Dedede, being kind of selfish, but redeeming himself in later titles, but also being possessed by the true final boss in a game.

I bet MK had to get a Restriction Order against Kirby so he doesn't get near him, and he could get is own cake slices. xD

I would like to teach you, but, I'm still learning myself. I drew for years using the traditional way (pencil and paper) and when I got the drawing tablet, I felt genuine fear to even dare to use it because it felt way too different to the pencil and paper at first, and I couldn't draw my usual stuff because my hand trembled when I held the tablet's pen, but, I only kept practicing and tried over and over to get doodles as the way I wanted, tryout and error, and well, now, I can't even think to draw without it, because it feels smoother and I coordinated my hand on the tablet and my sight on the screen, that was hard at first since I got used to look down to draw.

I say that you only have to practice, with whatever comes across your mind, draw it, sketch it, in many ways, and as many times as possible and it will be getting better and better.

If someone took one of the few things you care about (I'm not saying you only care about a few things, just go with it), you would get pretty mad, wouldn't you?
I wouldn't go on a murderous rampage over an easily replaceable piece of shortcake.

If there was a deeslike button, I'd press it, then press it again, then press it again, to prove that I dislike this twice as hard. You had no technique man. You weren't even subtle about it. :troll:
Subtlety?

That's for DEEvious and subtle people like me. So subtle in fact, that you have to read my posts twice to find the dee puns.

He has a friend that can literally paint food.
Yeah, but notice how many main characters of the Dark Matter Trilogy appear outside of the trilogy besides cameos. King Dedede, MAYBE the Waddle Dee. The first 3 animal friends only appear in the Star Stackers and the anime, Dark Matter only appears in Squeak Squad and a subgame in Mass Attack, Dream Land 3 Animal Friends don't appear anywhere else in games. Same with 0(2) and Adeleine. And anyway, maybe Kirby was having a bad day and was ready to tuck in to the cake when it disappeared.

It's similar to someone going to get revenge over a loved one dying (or otherwise disappearing) in a game, where the shortcake is Kirby's loved one.
So as of Rainbow Curse, KirbyXApple is canon! Sorry Ribbon and Chuchu, Apple beat you two to it!
KIRPPLE 4EVER!!
