I wouldn't compare her to Olimar when he's the original star of one of Nintendo's latest IPs. He represents pikmin . Ado wasn't the main star of K64 nor is K64 the beginning of a new IP. Bowser Jr is the secondary villain of Mario and has appeared as recent as the NSMB games.
She's still a classic character, and her influence is still present in recent games, even if she doesn't appear directly. Look at Elline, it's just Adeleine+Ribbon, even the name is similar.
Kirby 64 is one of the most memorable Kirby games, maybe it's not considered the best one but it's one of the most important games being the first polygonal Kirby game. When they selected the classic Kirby games to make the 20th anniversary collection, they included Kirby's Dreamland 3 and 64, and Ado/Adeleine was in 2/6 of the games, in one of them she had a major role in the credits of the game, and in the other she was even a main character, on par with Dedede; I think that this alone brings her above many one-shot characters or secondary characters that only do some cameos at times.

Even if she hasn't appeared in a new game, she still appeared in the Dream Collection, that's a recent game: she has a character description in the booklet, and her keychains are in Triple Deluxe even if unnamed (Normal Daroach also is not present, he appears only as his dark version, so I think it's due to a strange selection they made).

Anyway, everyone has their points for supporting their favorite characters I assume.

I'm sorry I just feel like cameos and references aren't enough for a character to seem influential. Cameoos + Appearances + Standard Role + (other beneficial bonuses such as a bigger role in the gameplay, etc) are what matter. K64 was included because All traditional Kirby games were included. From Kirby's creation to the last game before the jump to later consoles such as the Gamecube and Wii (which at the time were the current and previous gen). Much too recent to be considered classic and worthy of the collection. Also by this rational, any characters featured as a keychain, in the book, or in a game from Dream Collection counts as influential to be a rep and that's just way too wide and convenient a guideline.

Why they haven't included Amazing Mirror and Squeak Squad then?
The dream collection is a summarisation of what the history of Kirby is, and only the very classic Kirby games are present.
Spin-offs are not in, and any post-classic game is not in as well, aside from that collection of new KRTD challenge levels (that work more like an expansion, a sort of DLC of the original game).

DS and GBA were the current and previous gen at the time. RtDL came out on the Wii and was traditional but obviously it wasn't included (other than challenges as a bonus) because current and previous gen titles are too recent to be considered classic. Same reason any DS game and GBA wasn't going to be on. The dream collection was only for titles 2 gens prior and further back.

GBA was not current, at least Amazing Mirror could have been in. If Shimomura's games were so minor and not-canon like you constantly say, they should have replaced them with main-series games instead.
Dream Course also, it's not a traditional platformer but it would have fit an anniversary collection very well, representing the spinoffs with crazy gameplay; I can see Dreamland 3 and 64 replaced by Dream Course and Amazing Mirror. If they haven't done it, there is a reason I assume.

I thought about it

and then realized I was really bipolar, and that I'd actually love BD in Sm4sh.

Or Adeleine. Either one is cool, since they'd both be unique.

Well I agree that spin offs like dreamcourse would have been fine to fit in but it looks like HAL just felt like putting in the traditional platformers. Also the GBA at the time wasn't current gen but previous gen. Something from a previous gen still doesn't = classic. That's like me saying a game on the Wii is TOTALLY classic by now. It's only been one gen ago. For something to be classic is has to at least age a bit lol.

Japanese Pie Chart of who they are voting for:

K Rool, Dixie, Krystal and Ridley are top 4? And Bandana Dee that high? Am I in heaven?

Throw in Impa and I'd literally be dead

See this is why I like Japan, they can be weird but at least they aren't braindead like some people here, seriously the other day said that goku should be in smash... Wat?

Japanese Pie Chart of who they are voting for:

Why people are still voting for Ridley?
I don't have anything against him, but c'mon guys, Sakurai TRIED to make Ridley playable, even he said that he was (pls dont kill me for this) TOO BIG, he tried shrinking him, modify his wings, but it just didn't worked
WHY IS RIDLEY STILL A THING? D:

2 things: It's really wonderful Sakurai to actually tried to make Ridley

And that Pie chart is hella old.

Because Ridley is Ridley.
People still love him. People still want him to be playable. Nothing is going to stop those people for trying.

This looks pretty... interesting. Japan does have a good taste in characters, however (like Bandana Dee!).

The problem with kirby is that there is too many characters people want.

The problem is that kirby usually ditches almost every character after 1 game.

The thing about bandana dee is he isn't affected by this, he is starting to appear in multiple games.

Then people end up arguing over which character should be in.

It creates a mess.

The Japanese chart resembles the west's top picks so much. I'm surprised that even they want Ridley considering Metroid isn't even as popular in Japan as it is in the west. Kirby being a bigger franchise there (The only country where the Kirby Amiibo is the second best selling amiibo only to be beat by Link) I'd expect them to be opposite but I guess not.

He didn't try though, If he actually did he'd realize that Ridley looks fine scaled down

I was gone for 3 days and I come back to 7 pages and around 400 comments, wat. Anyways, glad to see the Dee getting all this support. It's really nice to see B-Dee rising up as a popularly requested character.

Hi everyone I do not know much about Kirby (or bandanna Dee for that matter) but my best friend call911imonfire has taught me the ways of the Dee. I am a supporter
I have taught you well. (Also you missed an opportunity to make a pun. 0/10)
