So what if in Smash Bros, Bandana Waddle Dee used some moves from the new stick ability? It looks really fun, I especially want to see Bandana Dee use that flinging move.

Also I bet one of the statues is going to be the four main cast stacked together like in return to dreamland/adventure wii

I'm really hoping the Archer ability returns.
It's my personal favorite copy ability (It makes the True Arena an absolute cakewalk and it's just fun in general) but with all the new abilities they're adding, it seems pretty likely that Archer will get the shaft. I hope I'm wrong.

What music do you think should play in Bandana Dee's newcomer trailer?

AmiAmi, a major Japanese hobby retailer, has opened up pre-orders for a selection of items from the upcoming Waddle Dee Collection, which will be released in Japan in March.

These items were made in response to the Waddle Dees winning a "favourite Kirby enemy" poll in Japan, and they feature Bandana Waddle Dee, Sailor Waddle Dee, and a selection of other Waddle Dees who are dressed in (adorable) outfits based on other Kirby-series antagonists who they bested in the poll.

Hello there, my deer friends. In ordeer to show that I am a deedeecated supporter of Bandana Dee, I have made a moveset for him. Dees is my first moveset.
It's based off of SSF2's concept, but it's quite deefferent, I promise.
I spent like 6 hours wrideeng dees down, so I hope you like it.

BandannaDee.png

Bandana Dee moveset

Weight: Slightly heavier than Kirby

Walk speed: Same as Kirby

Run speed: Slightly faster than Kirby

Jump height: Same as Toon Link

Multiple jumps? No

Air speed: Slightly lower than Kirby

Fall speed: Slightly faster than Kirby

Entrance: Bandana Dee crashes into the stage, landing on his face. He then gets up, ready to fight.

Idle animation 1: Bandana Dee dozes off and builds up a bubble that eventually pops, waking him up.

Idle animation 2: Bandana Dee fixes his bandana.

Jab: Bandana Dee thrusts his spear forward.

Jab 2: Bandana Dee spins his spear and thrusts it forward.

Rapid jab: Bandana Dee unleashes a flurry of forward jabs with his spear before finishing with a powerful thrust.

Forward tilt: Bandana Dee swings his parasol in front of him, dealing damages. Can be held down to deflect projectiles.

Up tilt: Bandana Dee thrusts his spear upwards.

Down tilt: Bandana Dee slides along the ground with one of his legs sticking forward to kick enemies. Moves forward.

Dash attack: Bandana Dee creates a spiral of energy orbs in front of him. A multi-hit attack.

Forward smash: Bandana Dee quickly lunges forward, slashing his opponent with his spear. Press the attack button again at the right time to perform a follow-up attack.

Up smash: Bandana Dee throws a spear diagonally upwards . If it hits while traveling upwards, it stuns, and spikes when traveling downwards. Can be aimed 180 degrees.

Down smash: Bandana Dee spins his spear and thrusts the its shaft forward, then performs a reverse gripped thrust behind himself (Think Cloud’s down smash).

Neutral aerial: Bandana Dee thrusts his parasol above him and opens it. If you hold down the attack button, Bandana Dee’s descent will be slowed down.

Forward aerial: Bandana Dee performs a rapid jab with his spear in midair at an angle. (Based on the new staff ability)

Back aerial: Bandana Dee turns around to wave the beam whip about a 45 degree angle above him to the same angle below him. Stuns for a few frames.

Up aerial: Bandana Dee thrusts his spear upwards in midair.

Down aerial: Bandana Dee flashes the spear and twirls it downwards towards the ground. Last hit spikes.

Grab: Bandana Dee grabs a nearby opponent.

Pummel: Bandana Dee zaps the grabbed opponent with energy beams.

Forward throw: Bandana Dee shoots his opponent off with a flurry of energy.

Back throw: Bandana Dee flips backwards and smashes the grabbed opponent the ground, sending them backward and throwing his spear at them shortly afterwards. Weaker than Kirby’s.

Up throw: Bandana Dee bounces the opponent off his parasol, and tosses them up.

Down throw: Bandana Dee twirls his spear downwards, then performs a downward thrust.

Floor attack: Bandana Dee kicks one leg out, gets up, and kicks the other out. (I admittedly copied that directly from the moveset in the OP because I couldn’t think of a floor attack)

Ledge attack: Bandana Dee gets up and delivers a small poke with the end of the spear. (See above)

Neutral special - Beam whip / Wave Beam: A line of energy appears and goes from about a 45 degree angle above Bandana Dee to the same angle below him, which stuns for a few frames. If charged, Bandana Dee fires an energy blast straight forward, which stuns for a longer time.

Side special - Nruff Ride: Bandana Dee whistles to summon a Nruff, which he rides on. He can throw spears while riding on it and jump off its back at will. The Nruff can be destroyed by opponents if it’s been attacked too many times.

Up special - Waddle Copter: Bandana Dee twirls his spear above his head. Anything touching the spinning spear takes damage. When used on the ground, Bandana Dee hovers like a helicopter for a short time period before falling helpless. When performed in midair, Bandana Dee simply leaps upwards. Midair version deals more damage.

Down special - Parasol Drill / Parasol Dive: Bandana Dee opens his spear and twirls it with two energy beams in front of him. When used on the ground, Bandana Dee dashes across the platform as he thrusts his spear forward. If performed in midair, Bandana Dee thrusts his parasol downwards at an angle, and he dives in the same direction.

Final Smash - Megaton Punch: Pressing the B button will bring down two cement blocks where Bandana Dee stood, and if anyone gets hit by them, they get popped out and land prone on top of the blocks. From there, 3 precise button presses are required to power up - one right as the oscillating meter fills, then right when 2 reticles cross over each other, then finally when a swinging pendulum is lined up with the green circle. With all 3 inputs complete, Bandana Dee leaps up and splits the cement blocks with an earth shaking punch and send anyone stuck on them flying. The more precise the inputs are, the more damage and knockback the punch deals. Landing all 3 perfectly results in a OHKO, and the view changes into a long shot of the stage cracking as the opponent is sent flying into the background.

Taunt 1: Bandana Dee turns towards the screen and waves his right hand.

Taunt 2: Bandana Dee spins his spear behind and in front of himself.

Taunt 3: Kirby’s panic animation from Kirby’s adventure.

Victory animation 1: Bandana Dee performs the classic dance and winks at the end.

Victory animation 2: Spins his spear above his head and then pins it to the ground as he happily looks at the screen.

Victory animation 3: Rides on a Nruff while raising his spear triumphantly until he gets thrown off it, and lands on his face.

Victory theme: Champion - The Arena (Kirby Super Star)

Palette Swaps:
Bandana Dee2 (1).png

(Please don't give me any **** for leaving some bits of the original color there or for using an official art for the Sailor Dee palette swap, I got tired)
Please let me know what you think!

Does anyone else feel like they've been trying to push Bandana Dee as Kirby's sidekick rather than King Dedede. What with the way he helps in Triple Deluxe and Planet Robobot (described as Kirby's friend) and even being his actual sidekick in Rainbow Curse and Battle Royale.

It's kinda like they're trying to make him the Luigi/Diddy/Falco?/Tails of the series.

To a degree. However, it can also be seen that he acts as a bridge between the two usually-friendly rivals, if we factor in all of his appearances.

I have always played as Waddle Dee in any Kirby game that he was available in :) I didn’t really back the lil guy this past time, but I will now!
On a side note...was anyone else kinda surprised when he was given spear and not parasol in RtD?

I wasn't, myself, because Bandana Waddle Dee is a distinct Waddle Dee, like Sailor Waddle Dee is. :p

EDIT: I'm sorry, I should clarify that better. Bandana Waddle Dee didn't wield a parasol in the first game where they showed his personality (Kirby Super Star Ultra, for the DS), so there was no reason that I'm aware of to expect that he would've used one. If anything, I think that it's surprising that he wasn't a fist-fighter, considering his role as the first opponent in Megaton Punch!

Sooo any thoughts on my moveset?
It's well-done, and I feel bad saying something so brief, considering how much time you obviously put into it.

I'm curious as to what the inspiration was behind the energy-based attacks, though - those aren't something that I think of when I think of Bandana Waddle Dee, I must admit.

I honestly find it very difficult to comment on fan-made movesets, because we ultimately never see anything like them in official Smash games... Sorry about that. :(

The energy based attacks are from the Beam ability. In case it doesn't make sense, this video explains it better (you can skip to 12:24 to hear the explanation).

It's alright. I can understand where you're coming from since I've refrained from doing that for a while for the same reason.

Ah, I see. I associate Beam with Waddle Doos, myself, since it comes from them.

Your guess is as good as mine
I actually have a couple of questions for you Dee supporters~

1) Would you be overly put off if a Waddle Dee became a fighter using only the Parasol? While Bandana Dee specifically has been associated with the Spear ability, Waddle Dees as a whole have been more associated with Parasol. Most Spear moves can potentially be performed with the parasol anyway, so besides the specific spear throw and spear-copter not much would likely be missing.

2) Going off of Lampy's moveset, how would you feel if Dee got in with a few more weapons from Kirby, specifically Beam?

I can't speak for anyone else, but I wouldn't be interested, myself. I'm in it for the specific character of Bandana Waddle Dee who is associated with Dedede, rather than a random generic Waddle Dee and their umbrella, of which there are tons, and of which there are none with fighting-ability on-par with Kirby's.

Bandana Waddle Dee was shown to use a parasol in Kirby Battle Royale, incidentally, so I don't see anything wrong with him using one for some moves, but I didn't sign up for a generic Waddle Dee using that exclusively. There's nothing special about that.

EDIT: I mean, it's kind of like asking if, instead of Daisy, would someone who isn't a character, but who wears a yellow dress, be ok, instead. ;) (And in case anyone misinterprets that, Luminario and myself are both Daisy supporters.)

2) Going off of Lampy's moveset, how would you feel if Dee got in with a few more weapons from Kirby, specifically Beam?
It's not something that I favour, personally. But if it happens, it happens. :p

I want Bandana Dee and I feel the Spear copter move is necessary.

And I'd like to see him burrow moves from other abilities. Waddle Doo's are Waddle Dee cousins and it wouldn't be that unbelievable for him to hold a beam wand.

More recently I'd like to see him using some of sticks moves with his spear, especially the one where he flings himself.

I wouldn't mind some other hats, but I want the default and moveset based Bandana Waddle Dee

Official site has been updated to include character intros on Kirby, Meta Knight, King Dedede and Waddle Dee.

Anything interesting on the waddle Dee page?
http://www.kirby.jp/25th/character/waddle_dee/

Bandana Dee can also be seen hanging out on Kirby and King Dedede's page, but I don't know what he's saying. It's too small and translate doesn't see it there.

On Dedede's page, he's just uttering "De?" (pronounced like "Deh"; Some say "Day", but my understanding is that this depends on dialect, and I was taught "Deh"), which is the katakana character that makes up Dedede's name in Japan. It's pretty funny, since they already had Dedede say it three times himself before that.

On Kirby's page, Bandana Waddle Dee is saying "Ashizukani" - or, "Be quiet" - since he's next to a picture of Kirby sleeping.

How about the part at 4:44 for a Final Smash idea?

My personal idea for Final Smash I call "Helper To Hero"

A cut scenes final smash where Bandana Waddle Dee calls on the helpers of the Kirby series to help beat down his opponent.

Also it seems review copies have been handed out, so spoilers beware.

I think I'll change Bandana Dee's up aerial in my moveset to an aerial version of this, though it would have less range.

For anyone who's interested, a demo of Kirby: Star Allies has been released on the Switch eShop today.

It's the same one that was exhibited at the World Hobby Fair 2018, containing the stages and boss-fights for Whispy Woods and Dedede.

Have at it!

Still don't have a Switch so I unfortunately can't get the game yet nor download the demo. Luckily I have friends that do, so I can play at least part of it.
Assuming Pokemon Switch isn't out by the time I get a Switch, this will be the first Switch game I purchase.

I presume that you were also waiting for the bundle on Nintendo UK's official online-store?

I got my pre-order in there, today, too. I really like the look of that set of pins.
