1) I picked up Ness in part because I finally played Earthbound. I had watched some PK Flash combo vid before as well, and I thought it looked awesome. It made me want to learn to use Ness. When I finally played him, he felt pretty natural, so I decided to use him. Of course, I found Yoshi before actually posting around SWF, and lurked those boards for a bit. I finally decided to join the Ness boards when I realized I was better with Ness than Yoshi in doubles.

2) Ness mains are all pretty cool guys (and girl ). There's a lot less trolling here than there is from the Yoshi mains, which is a bonus. Good example is when I finally got vids of my Yoshi up and I was slammed by some of the more veteran Yoshis without any actual critique, though my video of Ness still has yet to be noticed here. (Check the thread, guys.) I did end up getting a critique, and apart from those that like to troll, my Yoshi is apparently very good, though a bit slow on reaction to punish mistakes.

3) I think it's really ironic and funny. I wasn't even aware of that when I picked both them up. XD

4) Favorite genre. Well, I don't really have one. I just kind of listen to a select few songs that I've come across that I like. I like some Japanese music, some of the older rock like Queen, and a lot of video game tracks. Basically, the only things I never listen to are Rap, Hip Hop, and country pretty much.

5) I main characters based on who I just click with when I play them.

6) I can't use MK for the life of me, nor do I care to learn. XD

Polar Bears, Just For Laughs Comedy Festival (I've still never gone, but really want to), about 100 square feet of open space per person and most importantly the ability to know how much money I have just by glancing at the colors in my wallet.

why do you use DDD?
I've wanted to use him since 64, which he was supposed to be in. After he was cut from Melee too it was awesome when he was confirmed for Brawl. Turned out he's actually pretty good too.

whereve you been for the longest time?
I haven't gone anywhere but my confidence in my ability as a player has taken several serious hits so my posts have become more sparse while I focus more time on actually training. Also; maintaining a 4.0 GPA takes time

whyd you start using ness/continued using ness?
I used him as one of my secondaries () in 64 because I couldn't believe how awesome it was when I found out he was in the game (I didn't know until I unlocked him). In Brawl he was one of the characters I wanted to try besides Dedede, and after getting stomped at my first tourney using Dedede I started putting more time into Ness at home. Eventually I actually felt that Ness - or at least my Ness - was better than Dedede (this was really early '08). Bottom line though is that Ness is still the most fun character in the game

I tend to avoid cookie cutter strategies in Chess because of the possibility of being preempted by an opponent who can recognize the opening. I do use the Colle System with some frequency though.

I never actually once checked my rating, I just played. I went to local and county tournaments often with the high school club but never cared about how I actually ranked. I won the majority of my tourney games though other than when I was playing county champions or the like. I haven't played a ranked game in 5 or 6 years so I'd be surprised if I even still had a rating

what was that thing about chess theory you were working on? (i think it was you...)
Eh, most of it started looking like it was turning out to be a dead end and what was actually useful in it would already be pretty well-known to good players. It mostly dealt with the proper offensive use of pawns but I realized several factors that made me give up on it:
-The results it would yield (if any) weren't worth the time
-I'd been dabbling in too many forms of competition and had not been able to commit myself to any of them due to spreading my time too thinly
-I'm honestly just not good enough of a Chess player to be trying something as drastic as finding groundbreaking theory for the game.

I loved Melee, but I played it for years without ever having any awareness of the competitive community. During those scrub days I played Samus, Sheik, Roy, and Mewtwo. Now though I'm actually more into Melee than Brawl and although I'm still not very good I play Falcon, Sheik, Puff, and working on picking up Fox.

I live in Windsor, Ontario right now for college, which is right across the river from Detroit. It's not bad right now, about -2 degrees Celsius or so. The weather has actually been miraculously clear this week too. Our weather seems to come in bursts though like once or twice in a month during winter we'll get 3 feet of snow in one day but it will all have melted away by the time it snows again. Honestly though I find our abnormally hot days during the summer to be more intense than our abnormally cold days during the winter. I'm literally in the southern-most part of Canada though, and it gets a lot colder the further North you go.

Favorite season is Fall. The bugs start to die away, and here it's never too cold during Fall, so I don't have to put on a lot of layers. It's comfortable, there are no pests, and even better, Fall season is soccer season. The only sport I play. Alas, my school does not recognize soccer at all. It's nearly unheard of. </3

Vanilla. Chocolate is too thick and it coats my throat too much. Makes me thirsty. I also LOVE the smell of vanilla. Like, if any girl is wearing vanilla scented perfume or something, I always notice it. It's heavenly. Actually, I like vanilla so much I once tried a little taste of pure vanilla extract during cooking class one time. It does not taste as good as it smells.

If Ness was real, I might first have him cast PSI Healing Alpha on me to make sure I wasn't dreaming. Then we'd go play some videogames at the arcade, go see a carnival, watch some band perform, wander around the city, and have some steak for dinner. I'd also want him to teach me to use a Baseball bat efficiently, because I suck at baseball. I'd also love to learn a little bit of PSI if it were possible.

Definitely a Night Owl, though I can do both. I just prefer the night a lot more. Quieter, I can do whatever I want since my brother's asleep. Dog's asleep, Mom's asleep (sometimes, other times she comes and tells me to go to bed cuz it's late.), and the internet is full of nocturnal people, so it's cool.

Um, guys, I appreciate the questions, but it is Avarice's turn now. I'll answer some of these, but I'd rather not steal his spotlight. It is his week after all.

Canada Questions: It is awesome because Zap Rowsdower lives there. He does not want you there, so you can't live there.

I use Yoshi because I just happened to play him one day and I instantly clicked with the character. I just "get" Yoshi. He feels very natural.

I come to the Ness boards because I second Ness and I love you all. <3 I picked up Ness after seeing a PKT mindgame compilation of him on Youtube. I had also recently beaten Earthbound. He feels natural to me as well, and I love him in doubles.

Favorite Overall Move: Pivot Grab and Grab Release (Yoshi.) Fair and Bair (Ness.)

I don't play Chess. Well, not competitively. I'd say I'm okay at it, I've never studied openings or anything however.

I play Brawl because it's not as tech skill demanding as Melee/64, so I don't have to practice tech skill. I do like Melee from a casual stand point, though not so much anymore since seeing how good I am in Brawl makes me feel bad about my Melee suck. 64 is fun, I like to play it with my friends and stuff since it's so broken they can possibly beat me at it. We're all good at it, though I'm a bit better than my friends. I main Ness in 64. <3

This is a really tough one. I really like living in Canada, but there's a bunch of places I'd like to live for varying reasons:
-Vegas; I'm a big poker player
-SoCal; Basically everything awesome is in SoCal... the weather disasters are pretty ridiculous though =/
-Japan; All the usual reasons you'd hear from a gamer, plus I find the language itself to sound soothing. On the other hand, I've heard foreigners living in Japan usually don't get the best treatment as they're a bit xenophobic; I could be misinformed though.
-Philippines; the age of consent is 12

Honestly I'm not really hung up over where I'll live.

Sometimes...it's a really long story . Basically, there have been numerous drastic changes to my personality over the years, sometimes they've been in-line with my behavior on the interwebz and sometimes not. I'd like to think for the most part though that I'm similar in person to my behavior on the web.

Probably not because I don't really go for blondes, but beyond that with my luck I would get stuck in the friend zone . I might have the worst luck with women in the world (for someone who actually actively seeks them).

So where exactly in Canada do you live? Since you said you live pretty south of Canada, do you know what US state (or possibly a great lake) is to the south?

Normally I live in Chatham, Ontario, which is a fairly small town and is actually just 15 minutes North of Lake Erie. On a clear day I can see Cleveland across the lake from my friend's cottage. During school though I live in Windsor, Ontario which is actually so far south in Canada that Detroit, MI is to the North (and is just across the river).


What do you plan to do in your future life career-wise?
I seriously screwed up my career plans by neglecting my University studies a few years ago. Now after working for a couple years I decided to go back to college and I'm currently studying computer networking but I only have a vague idea of what I want to do. Inevitably something IT related though.

Do you enjoy Canadian bacon?
It's called pemeal bacon thanks . And yes, yes I do.

What qualities/traits do you think Canadians have over Americans?
Little to none. The coincidences of birth should not be responsible for who you are as a person, especially in places that enjoy the level of freedom as us.

Yeah, I've been to Detroit and Port Huron, MI a few times. I've also been to Disney World 3 times .

Have you ever attended a US smash tournament?
No. I wanted to go to Pound 4 but I wasn't able to. There's a very good chance I'll be at APEX2 though. Also once I get my passport I may start attending Ann Arbor or other MI or MW tourneys regularly since they are actually closer to me than the Toronto tourneys I normally go to.

This is funny because during the days of the 80's/early 90's when there was rampant paranoia of satanic cults there was an area of my town that was suspected to be a hotbed for them. Turned out just to be a bunch of hot air though.

Some of it is, though very little proportionately. I don't know what -if anything- US schools teach about the Yukon gold rush but a lot of people died just braving the weather to reach it.

Do people actually go "eh?" up there?
Yeah but not with any sort of obsessive frequency. In fact ever since the jokes about it arose I was consciously trying to avoid ending some questions with "eh?" sometimes even though I rarely used it to begin with.

Have you ever played Marik, a Yoshi main?
I've met him in person at several tournaments, but now that I think about it I've never actually played him, even in friendlies

Which Mother game is your favorite and why?
2. I barely played Mother 1, and although I liked Mother 3 it didn't have the amazing humor of 2. RPG's typically really only need one thing to be great, which is a great story. Mother 2 and 3 both had that, but they also both went above that with innovative gameplay. 2 Just had the amazingly silly humor that sets it above every other RPG ever. (Mother 3 had its amusing points too, just not really near the level of 2.)

Do you think Ness will move on this upcoming tier list? Will he rise or fall?
I think he'll rise above Lucas and Mario for sure, and Zelda is going way down anyway so he'll also be above her. I think he should rise a little more than this, I just don't think he will.

Do you like to use Ness's U/Dsmash?
Dsmash I rarely use because sh-nair can usually do the same job faster and safer. Usmash I've started using OoS a lot; it's the best OoS option against laggy attacks that hit too far to shield-grab (Snake's ftilt)... it pops your opponent upwards too which is the most important part of building momentum as Ness.

What's your least used...
Aerial?
uair; it's really good, I just tend to save it for a surprise because it's an extra kill option that I don't want my opponent thinking about when he's focused on avoiding the bthrow.

Tilt?

Why is Lucas your least used character?

I can't use him. I'm far too adjusted to Ness' PKT and PKF. Also all the little things that are similar between Ness and Lucas make me try to use Lucas the same way I use Ness which simply doesn't work because they are very different characters.
