It's just the media reporting on every little thing that happens... it makes every crime seem like a much bigger deal.

Oh you're absolutely right, I hear about this kind of stuff so much now that it's like:

"Oh hey another kidnapping, huh? Ah well, nothing new, is there anything else on the news...*time goes by watching the news channel*... Okay, there's some debate about politics...nothing really new, they just bash and be really bias...what else...?...*more time flies by*...A robbery...again this happens all the time...*sigh*"

I do suppose that it was just brought up to me that times now are "worse" than they were back half a century ago no thanks to the media.

To Green: I suppose you're right...wouldn't society be much better off with those two people dead instead of say sending them to life in prison where we have to go out of our way and make money to pay for the prisons to cell the inmates... give them free food/bedding/Television/toilets/etc... while attempts at trying to fix them into normal people would/could prove futile?

To Chis: I don't know, I went to France once...I think they treat people like crap if you dont, A) Speak their language. B) Come with a lot of money for spending. C) Expect to live there. *continue rant*. I went there for tourism reasons/my mom forced me to go with her, I'll tell you I did not really enjoy being in France...but then again I didn't want to go to Europe in the first place. Maybe somebody who actually enjoyed gonig to France will tell you differently.

We do live much safer now then before, the chance of a violent death (even worldwide) is much lower then it was even 20 years ago. I don't have the exact numbers because I got it from a book I didn't buy due to being in college and therefore only read it in the store.

The number of violent offenses went up, but thats probably just a result of a larger population since the rate per 100,000 is down significantly. Touche Eor, touche.

There's a slightly negative view on the Poles because some people think "They're taking our jobs!" and also asians because a) the ridiculous terrorism/muslim thing and b) the way the media blows up (no pun intended) a story of a muslim imposing their beliefs. Similar to when the Rabbi complained about the christmas decorations at an airport.
