Attn Samus Mains: Please Help Me In My Research Project

Hello everyone! I am currently doing a research project on Brawl for members of the smash lab. They have a couple ideas going around in there and I wanted to test a few of them out for myself. Therefore if you guys would not mind, I would appreciate it if you would help me out.

I would like you, since you know your characters better than I do (probably), to tell me in quick bullet points what the most annoying things for you to play against. I am talking about aspects of match ups that change how the match up plays out. Examples of this would be King Dedede’s standing infinite on Bowser, DK, Mario, Luigi, Samus and himself or grab releases like Marth on Ness/Lucas or Wario’s grab release shenanigans. Basically, anything match up specific where one character has a great advantage over the other character simply because of that move/moves. There’s plenty out there but I want to make sure I have them all! Please list them for me!

  • Short/small characters (olimar, mk, etc because short hop zair hits much less)

    Exceptional recovery options (harder to gimp, which is samus's preferred method of KOing)

    Projectile spam (samus has a bad roll, is tall, no reflector, bad cqc pressure -- pit arrows, falco lasers, link projectiles are annoying..)

    Chain throws (mainly just dedede)

    Shield pressure (samus really only has up b out of shield against shield pressure)

    Heaviness (Samus's most reliable KO move is dtilt at around 140%. heavy characters take even more % to KO off the top, but these characters are usually fatties which make them easier to combo to achieve that %)

- Pressure. If a character plays too aggressively. Samus has very little she can defend herself against Playstyles like an Aggressive Ness, Marth, or Wario I have found tend to be the hardest to fight back against out of anyone else.

- Only throw thats an issue is D3, but camping alongside her Zair and other projectiles help limit that. But it is still an issue.

- Her lack of Horizonital and Veritcal kill moves forces a lot of Samus uses to find other means of killing enemies. Her Utilt, Dtilt, and Dair are great kill movies, but very situational. In other words you really need to be about two steps ahead of your opponent.

- Smaller Characters cause huge problems for Samus (Pikachu, Olimar Squirtle. ect. )

Those are really the downsides to her... I cant think of any more besides her learning curve.

Her "Float" Seems discouraging, lack of ability to fall when in the air. This is good and bad I am sure as you can tell. Shes a heavy, but she falls about as fast as lucario.

The only infinite is D3's standing cg infinite?
There is also the Ice Climbers, but then again, they can infinite anyone except themselves. If you are aware of the danger of being grabbed to the point of death by the Ice Climbers, then you're always cautioning yourself to not get grabbed. Besides, the Ice Climbers have a short grab range, and if Nana is out of the way, the danger of being chain-grabbed is out of the way.

yea... ddds infinite is really extremely stupid for samus... nothing compares to this....
mk is a close second...

but generally things that disadvantage samus are (imo)
techniques that can get past spams (i.e. mk's tornado (even eats zair T.T), ddds cg, lucario's side dodge, sonic is pretty good at approaching through spams fast and staying in your face, and smaller characters bc they can duck under some of the missile spams and make it somewhat harder to hit with zair...)

characters who can't be gimped well, while this isn't drastically bad, it forces samus to play for the onstage ko... which just takes a bit more damage... I think her lack of ko power is a bit overexaggerated though. but with characters like ddd, this means that samus can't ko him until past 160% with dtilt.

finally something pretty annoying is characters who can outspam or compete with samus' spams (imo olimar, falco <.< and toon link...) which makes it harder to play the long range... and usually samus will be more disadvantaged at close range (not helpless though...).

I dont really understand what those topics are all about they keep coming up one after another. Matchup discussions from different threads and such asking us to give us their weakpoints (most of the time).
All in all this is not a so called "reasearch" of yours. Your doing nothing but collecting information we tell you and i can tell you arent interested in samus at all because all you want to know is her weakpoints. I dont know why i am even writing this or my previous posters "reveal" our weaknesses but whatever.

DDD is a common problem and small characters are generally disliked.

well, at least it has gotten the other character boards to reveal some of thier weaknesses as well.
