Sorry, but the grounds that that thread was closed on are F***ing stupid. I'm not defending the thread, i'm just saying that the thread was closed for no reason.

Bahamut: The discussion of emulation of any kind is forbidden on Smashboards.

*closed*

Emulation? Who the hell mentioned emulation? Many people plan on playing the ORIGINAL game from different regions on a WII console. Thats not emulation, thats playing a wii game.

Even so, discussion of emulation is not forbidden on smashboards. Ever been to the smash 64 threads? There's plenty about downloading smash 64 roms and playing them on kalliera, but no one has a problem with that.

This post will definitely won't do that good for me, but I can't let someone like this dude talk like that.

General illegal activities don't particularly need to be in written rules. Piracy is piracy, even simply admitting to having it.

Condoning the piracy of Brawl on this board could very well land us in legal troubles at any given time.

In other words, get over yourself. Just because you can't trust your own common sense to work doesn't mean it's our job to do that for you then complain about it.
Define "general". It's legal in Germany to have private copies, so you can't say it's generally illegal.
Besides, don't think too high of you just cuz you think you know what's going on. As long as stuff like this is going on here, you can't tell me anything.
wth you're not even connected to my case, so why are you talking? -.-

If it is a private "back-up" that you own from a retail game, then that is fine. You have the legal right do do that anywhere. However, it's not exactly easy to prove this.

Sharing the copy, download sources, and the processes of illegally obtaining it, is not fine.

If your case is in fact the former, then I apologize. PM whichever fellow moderator of mine who closed your thread.
If your case is the latter, then I have no sympathy for you.

If your case is either, then complaining about it publically will only make matters worse by wasting more forum space. Use Forum Disputes or talk with the moderator. To me, you just sound whiny.

My case is the former. I already posted the mod and even Kirby King about that, but they're both strict. They're saying, private copies aren't legal and that closing my thread without a warning is just normal. Of course I could prove that I own the original game [by taking pictures of the game and the bill and showing them], but no one even asked for that. The pure possibility that someone has a copy without having the original game makes the thread worth closing. At least that's what they say.

But what is someone supposed to do? I have the game, I have a chip, I can't play the game so I do something so I can play it by copying it. There's no other possibility [except buying Japanese Wii or changing modchip which would cost too much]. And it's a legal possibility. But not in their eyes.

I for my part stopped talking about dumping/copying/whatevering the game cuz those threads of mine would get closed in an instant, but seeing other threads talking about stuff that's also about modchips or copying the game, and not being closed, makes me go berserk over 3 lvl9 Sonics with Metaknight. It just seems unfair to me, and being unfair sucks, and this board definitely doesn't suck, but because of this it sucks a little..aw :O either I have to ignore this, or the mods have to tread everyone equally. But I tell you this: maybe I'll be weak and ignore it now, but the mods will have to pray that they don't accidentally meet me in WiFi mode

btw, I would talk ontopic, but then this thread would just get closed again :p

//EDIT

Without whiners like me there wouldn't have to be any rules at all, don't you think?

Yet another reason why you don't void your warranty and install a WiiKey/other mod chips.

Sucks for you :p

I've already installed the Wiikey, and I'm not privvy as to where to get the switch/how/etc, so I just wanna yank out the wiikey and get a freeloader for later. My question is this:

How do I pull that Judas chip out?

Don't rip out your chip...uninstallation is a pain. You might as well just install the 4 dollar on/off switch the guy was talking about.

Some guy posted a workaround on the psx scene forums. Supposedly if you mess up the wiikey via software then the Wii won't detect it and a RETAIL copy of Brawl will work. He says he tried it twice and it works.

- Get any update for the Wiikey 1.9b or 1.9g for example

- When the update is around 50-75% pull the plug on your Wii

- It should screw up the Wiikey and your wii won't be able to read burned discs

- Brawl should work

If it doesn't then it's probably a dirty lens..

It's a sort of on/off switch for the Wiikey because if you want to play burned games again all you have to do is use the Wiikey recover and update back to 1.9g and everything should go back to normal...and Brawl won't work..

So recap:

Turn Wiikey off -

Do an update and plug out the console during the update to render the Wiikey's chip software useless. Somehow this affects Brawl's code that allows it to figure out whether your Wii has a modchip or not and the regular US RETAIL Brawl should work..

Turn Wiikey on -

Use your Wiikey recovery cd to fix the Wiikey and re-update it back to it's normal settings with 1.9g and also don't forget to config 1.3 to switch back on whatever you had..

I am 100% sure this works.. Yes it's time consuming as hell but it's really the only thing we have for now..atleast until the Wiikey team releases an update for the Wiikey that somehow circumvents Brawl finding the chip.

What I did exactly... in simple easy to read steps

1. downloaded 1.9b from the Wii firmware updates thread that is stickied to this forum.

2. burned it

3. proceeded with the update as normal then at 70% I plugged out the power cable on the back of my Wii..then waited for like 15 seconds (for no reason)

4. When I turned my Wii back on the 1.9b disc couldn't be read so I figured the Wiikey was not working... THIS IS GOOD

5. I popped in Brawl and splish splash BOOM.the "Super Smash Bros Brawl" intro came up.

6. I smiled... and posted this.

YAY Now to go and play Brawl. Spread the word everyone!

Things to know...

-----
The first screen that has a loading bar is the test flash for the Wiikey. All it's doing is testing to see if the Wiikey can be flashed...you should let this run to 100%. At the next screen is the REAL flashing where the software is being flashed (written) to your Wiikey. While this is happening any interruption can probably cause a corruption..in our case ..this is good.

----
From what I've been reading 1.9b works better than 1.9g. So burn yourself a copy of 1.9b then use that for corrupting your Wiikey.

----
If your Wii is still reading backups(burnts games) after you think you corrupted your Wiikey then obviously your Wiikey isn't corrupted. After your Wiikey is corrupted all burnt games will not run...that should allow Brawl to run since your Wii in that state is a NORMAL un-modded wii. If your Wiikey is still reading burnt games then keep trying..eventually it will corrupt..it has to. Try at different percents, I heard of 50% and 70% working usually.

----
If your Wiikey is corrupt and your backups don't work and you STILL can't play Brawl then unfortunately there is something physically wrong with your Wii..for example your lens may be too dirty. Dual layer dvd's require alot more precision and are more prone to tiny scratches and whatnot..also check the disc... If you're desperate you can blow out the dust from your Wii. The way this is done is you blow (yes with your mouth) into the bottom port of your Wii you should literally SEE dust coming out the back of the Wii.

If that doesn't work for you (it didn't for me) try following up with this:

1) Go to Wii main menu
2) Browse to Disk Channel
3) Put Brawl in
4) Wait for Brawl to be detected
5) Put Wii on standby (power button using remote)
6) Turn Wii on (at this point, the disk channel should show Brawl without any disk reading time)
7) Start Brawl

Worked first try for me. So much love.

Last month, THQ told analysts in a quarterly conference call that it would be introducing its SmackDown vs. RAW series of wrestling games to the Nintendo DS, Wii, and PlayStation 3 this year. Today the publisher spilled the first details on SmackDown vs. RAW 2008, which will also appear on the PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, and Xbox 360, combining for the company's largest cross-platform WWE release yet.THQ also gave a glimpse of what to expect from this year's installment of the game, saying that WWE spin-off league Extreme Championship Wrestling will have a "significant" presence in the game, with a number of ECW stars, arenas, and weapons included. As for the gameplay focus, THQ said that "realism and strategy are at the forefront" with its new struggle submission system, which uses analog controls to let players dictate the amount of pressure applied to their opponents in submission holds.
