ivysaur's fsmash hits IMMEDIATELY after charge release

IMMEDIATELY

there are no startup frames after the charging animation

USE IT MORE

(this explains why magik hits with it all the **** time)

it's not max range, it's going to be from where ivy launches itself to about 1/3 of the max distance i'm guessing

chuckles is working on ivy, i can whip up a quick fsmash thing though

max range is on frame 3 btw

and during release, ivysaur has a property where not all of the hurtboxes are "displayed", which basically means partial invincibility so keep that in mind

well first let me explain exactly how smash attacks work

there's first a start up animation that lags it every time you use the move

then there's a frame that allows you to charge if you are holding a or z

then after that frame, the animation for the attack portion begins (like charizard's dsmash, where he hops up and lands and then the hits come out)

with ivysaur's fsmash, all of the lag is in the first animation, and the charge frame is the last frame before the hitbubbles come out

the first animation takes about 16-18 frames or something, so that's how long an uncharged version takes

unfortunately there's about 40 frames of lag after the attack but it has a ton of range and partial invincibility. with the shield pushback of a charged fsmash at max range, it's still pretty difficult for most characters to punish it

so basically it's an awesome mindgame and if they do ANYTHING other than shield, you can immediately react and hit them. and if they just sit in the shield, the pushback is pretty good.

watch some of magik's ivysaur videos, he does it all the time

This explains why I feel the need to charge it more than any other smash.

if someone spotdodges on the exact same frame that you hit the c-stick over to start f-smash won't it hit anyway?

or would it just be better to hold it and then let go when you see opportunity..

I've been trying to dash attack kill more though...its quite reliable and helped me step my ivy game up

Every time I see this topic, I just picture Ivysaur F-Smashing a planking MK off the ledge into oblivion.

TKO were you fighting G-reg on the live stream for pound 4?

Most of Squirtle’s moves revolve around shooting water which san deflect moves and make people slip, sorta like Mario’s water pack. His Up+B recovery is decently useful and it can push people out of your way if they meet you in midair.

His tail whips are decent enough for A attacks, but he’s really not much of a head on combatant. That doesn’t my personal play style, so I find myself rarely spending a lot of time with him, except for novelty’s sake.

Luckily, all three Pokemon come together for a pretty **** effective Final Smash. I love the little text box that pops up, just like when you attacked in the original game. Nice touch there. Plus, the beam itself is wide reaching and powerful, able to sweep up opponents trying to avoid being swept up and do a lot of damage to those caught directly in its path. Overall, it’s a pretty great FS that fits the character(s) and the series. Don’t know how I’d change it, really.

yea that was me....thanks man...I didn't know if anyone was watching....Jiggz Mad Hard tho cuz im not patient...lol

Edit: in doubles my squirtle is a stock tank (ill be living to like 180) so of course hes gonna be tired....is it hurting my team if i dont switch out even tho hes tired but yet i know if i switch to ivysaur at a high percentage i would die like as soon as i get hit?

I guess it really depends on the situation. If you can do some damage and your teammate does damage try and refresh dthrow while you're alive. Also who you're playing against is a factor and stage. Just be smart about it.

Nah it's not too bad, since you can rely on your partner to get the KOs. If your teammate is teaming with Squirtle he should be expecting to be used to your lacking KO power. Squirtle will still do very well at disrupting your opponents' play, so it's not necessarily hurting your team.

I'm not saying you should always keep Squirtle out in that situation... just that in 2v2s, fatigue shouldn't be as big of a factor in deciding when you should switch.

Squirtle's great in doubles, even when fatigued. It's hard for opponents to keep up with Squirtle's shellshifting antics while also focusing on your ally. His fthrow and bthrow also throw the enemy low enough to the ground for a lot of smashes to hit as well.

I secondary Ivysaur and I seem to get more kills off up Uair than I do with Fsmash. Can you stutter step his (Ivysaur) Fsmash by any chance?
