Hey duders, so my hori pad is doing this thing where I'll press right on the stick and it just won't go right. It doesn't happen every time though like, if I go to the character select screen. Then I like dashdance with hand sometimes the hand will just stop when I press right. My question is if anyone knows a way to fix this? Thanks.

The sticks are more durable on the Hori pads, but sometimes the internals break for whatever reason. You can try replacing the analog stick with another one from a hori controller (doesn't need to be N64), or with some modification you can put a game cube stick in there. Maybe others work too, not sure

Thanks man, I found out that I can play for like an hour until the controller gets to a certain temp then the stick starts acting weird. I'm gonna just knuckle down and get another hori. The z and r button are starting to stick anyways and miss inputs. So might as well just get a new controller.

you have a mario picture under your name

dk, i guess try to fade back so dair hits your arms. mix up and go high, fade back, fall through, etc.

falcon, if you're low and you're getting hit by one of the hits, you're probably screwed. if i know the kirby is dair heavy i try to go mid and DI on stage through the drill. pull back a bit with falcon or something.

I'm not saying shield. I'm saying shield jump. If you are bair ing on accident just hold the z after the z cancel and jump asap. Use jouske method to jump early as possible. Shield jump is superior to jump always. Just hope its not a falcon that can usmash

Hi guys, let me preface this by saying that I'm still very, very new to smash 64 - so I'm not very good. I started to get all my roommates into it and I can see us slowly getting better and better. I recently got my older brother to come play with us (he used to play it constantly when it was first released.) I thought I would absolutely destroy him, as he hadn't played for a good 10 years probably - but guys, he BODIED me. He plays pikachu and I beat him one out of maybe seven matches. So after that massive introduction my question is "how do I best handle pika?" I can decently combo him but I can never seem to finish him easily, he can get to massive percent and still recover and I don't know how to punish his up+b(is that the correct term?) I found that the only way I can even start getting damage on him is if I dash dance and pray to get a fsmash or dash attack. I know one thing I could definitely improve on is z-canceling my aerials but I'm not very good at it yet and he can punish them so easily. I have to get him to like 130% before I can kill him and all it takes for me to die is him to get a back throw on like 50% and then he just edgeguards me with fsmashes. I can rarely recover back on stage against him because if I falcon dive early he just gets an easy grab into backthrow and if I wait he just fsmashes me. He loves to just float around doing aerials on me as he comes down or to just sit glued to the stage trying to get a grab. What advice would you give in this matchup? Sorry for the wall of text but I really, really want to learn to beat him.

What are the better ways to do this with falcon? I have had a little bit of success against him doing dairs and spiking him, but if I miss he gets back on with ease. I also try position near the ledge and do dtilts but this rarely works. I know for sure I need to practice predicting the landing location on his quick attack, because as of now he can do them without any punishment.

Go on YouTube and look up some beginner Falcon combos. There is a pretty simple one for Pikachu on Dreamland that doesn't require any z-canceling. Falcon u-air combos are pretty effective vs all of the characters so they are good to know to do in general.

So I've been challenged to a money match set in all Smash games by one of the best local players, XeroXen. The challenge is for Nov 23rd, and it's going to be streamed and recorded. I don't want to disappoint, but I haven't touched Smash 64 in a very long time. I need some suggestions of solo training methods to help me improve in as little time as possible
