There was this credible fellow on Smashboards who's apparently known to be a reliable source for Sabi (or something along those lines. According to him, his NoA buddy reinforced the deconfirmation of Bamco and now confirmed that Capcom is officially outta the running for FP5.

Oh wow, lots more pages since I left. Sorry I have not been on at all, guys. I was really ecstatic when Super Puyo Puyo 2 made it to the SNES emulator on Switch and I was even more surprised it was left in overseas emulators as well and not just the Japanese one. I am still hoping for Arle as a fighter and will be very happy if she makes it. And if not, they confirmed there will be more DLC fighters after the fifth one in this current pass.

Came here to mention this. Leaks aside, with this anniversary tweet, our chances have grown even stronger. With a sudden revival of Puyo Puyo in the west recently (Puyo Puyo Tetris and Puyo Puyo Champions), the SNES Online Library including Puyo Puyo Tsu untranslated when they could have easily included Kirby's Avalanche instead, and now this anniversary picture with all the DLC characters and Daisy "coincidentally" being in the picture, I now believe that Arle is the 5th character in the Fighter's Pass. To think I hopped on this thread only a few weeks ago and now Arle might actually make it in.

I hope Arle gets in, and I think she's realistic for #75, but I'm not gonna start celebrating unless she actually gets in (or is leaked like Terry and Banjo). Also, I think the image used for the first anniversary is very coincidental and doesn't mean anything other than "oh hey guys Smash is a year old". It could very well be someone like Travis Touchdown and we wouldn't know it.

Matter of time before we got the frontrunner position. Don't set your bars high just yet. It's still a week away and there still are deconfirmations going on.

I always knew I would discredit any leaks that said SEGA characters are out. I usually take leaks with a grain of salt anyway and use evidence pointing towards a character (like the evidence I mentioned in my last post). If it’s true though, it was fun while it lasted. Genuinely curious what character we’re getting at this point. But in any case, we’ll see what happens at the VGAs/Nintendo Direct/whatever Nintendo will do to announce the next character.

Well, i don't really believe in this leak, and even if this is true, i still have hopes for Arle in Smash. Whether as a Fighter's Pass character or one of the Future DLC Fighters.

Yes of course; there is always the next DLC wave or pass and in all honesty shes a very likely candidate. That said, I wouldn't completely lose hope on her being slot 5, there is a lot of conflict right now on whether Vergeben or his source are 100%. Sabi hasn't deconfirmed her yet, so she could be on the table still. Depends on who you trust more as a leaker.

My thoughts exactly. Even if Arle isn't announced tonight, we shouldn't lose hope. Heaven knows Puyo Puyo most likely has an interesting start to the next decade coming up as Sunredo has mentioned. That said, PLEASE hype responsibly.

Considering current circumstances, (Vergeben's word still being in play, as there was no fighter reveal at the VGA; Sabi being RIGHT about no VGA reveal) I think Arle is out again. Also, I'm unsure how she'll fare post-FP. In any case though, there's the possibility that Puyo Puyo could get spirit'd. (It happened to RE.)

I don't recall Virginben stating that Hayabusa was in (I do recall IamShifty saying that though); there was a Verge article claiming Vergeben said this, in which he didn't. Also, he backpedaled on Granblue a while ago, back in November 2018. Viagraben was also a bit skeptical on the Minecraft claims himself. Oh, and the Minecraft and Granblue claims were outdated themselves, so I don't see how they're recent news. Additionally, dismissing Terry as the "obvious choice" for SNK is like dismissing Master Chief as the "obvious choice" for a Microsoft rep or Jack Frost as an "obvious choice" for an Atlus rep, even though Terry would be the first answer. Oh, and not to mention, it's an example of Moving the Goalpost. Lastly, Vergeben backpedaled on the Thanos snap too, only "killing off" specific characters.

Besides... we are going to get Arle but Vergeben tries to deconfirm her just to troll us Puzzle game fans.... i wish Arle is approved Legitimately as a Fighter by Sakurai, i don't wanna lose another Puzzle game Rep. Lip's spirit was already saddening for me and i don't want to be depressed. I just want Arle as a Fighter now... Amitie as Arle's Echo Fighter would double my happiness for Smash.

Huh, this never crossed my mind before. If Arle gets added, she will definitely be in English. And out of all the English voices in Puyo Puyo Tetris, Amitie was the one I enjoyed the most. So, if they are in English, I might wind up using Amitie more because I was not as big of a fan of English Arle. Nothing against Erica Mendez, but Christine Cabanos fit the cutesy tone way better and I enjoyed her the most in the dub. Ringo could have sounded more snobby.

I was talking about Arle becoming a Fighter since that is the last hope for the Competitive puzzle game genre, and Panel de Pon getting a revival as a following result. I don't want Arle to be a normal spirit. I want her to fight, and with Arle as a Fighter (Bonus Points with Amitie as her Echo Fighter), Nintendo would realize they have to step up and finally unleash Lip (Panel de Pon) as a fighter too.... as SEGA would need a worthy rival from Nintendo in this genre....

In fact, if we really can't get Tails/Knuckles/Shadow, Arle will make up for it, and we need 2 mascots to continue the legacy of the Nintendo vs. SEGA Rivalry even though the rivalry is not like before.

Just think about it.... Mario is dominant in the Platformer genre back in the day of him against Sonic, and now, Arle is dominant in the Puzzle game genre, so close enough to beat Tetris, and Arle is unstoppable, which is why i want her in Smash Bros now because once she is in the fighter spotlight, Nintendo will then do ANYTHING to stop Arle's reign of dominance, and that is to ANNOUNCE Lip as a Fighter....

My point is that i'd pick Arle because not onpy i like Puyo Puyo, but also because i want to learn from my mistakes about not wanting her in the past because of one bad mindset i was forced into about Smash Bros, and because the Competitive Puzzle Game genre needs love and recognition in the Smash Community, and because a gaming character with such a cute artstyle is barely anywhere in Smash.
