Everyone seems to be excited about teams, and I am looking forward to doing them...

however I think things need to be straightened out before we get too ahead of ourselves. When would the team matches be happening? Saturday night? Sunday? There really should be a time set especially since people will be playing other games, and if there are going to be signups people need to know when it is happening or else the doubles tourney is just going to end up being extremely small based on who happens to be around the 64 section at the time.
I laid out the details before but you probably missed it. Tentative time is 11am on Sunday. Signups are being taken via PM and and then during the singles bracket. $5 entry fee.

That's gonna be hype... money on Isai's team, easy

I really hope dmbrandon's ban was A$ using his power for good for a change. As much as I was impressed by the capacity of his various bodily cavities, he had it coming.

There should definitely be commentary. I've heard Kefit's touhou stuff, he'd probably be a pretty good choice. No one else stepping up?

Next national I'll be riding that mic FOR SURE, y'all don't know about my commentary skillz.

I imagine the same people aren't going to want to commentate all day, so we should probably have a number of people rotate in right? I'm willing to give the mic a go, I was serious earlier when I said me and jimmyjoe were gonna team commentate, I dunno if he was lol.

Ok guys here is an option I have

We want to do some extra content after hours ( midnight or so ) so we want to really showcase some side events. I think this would be good so you get exposure and such.

Now wait I know...midnight for LF/WF/GF THATS LATE...but here is what gets interesting

You can record it....commentary and all...and we will just play it on stream. Think of it as a taped show like smackdown.

That or you can wait til Brawl is over Sat and play it out.

Mind you we have the venue until 3am so we can def do that if everyone brings setups for melee/brawl but we can try that.

Guys are you down for that? I think it's a reasonable compromise if you're willing to stay that late on the third day.

Or if Brawl ends on saturday and we're able to use the stage, that would be awesome.

I think that recording it in advance and then playing it on the stream is a good idea. I'm not comfortable with waiting for Brawl to finish because things may fall behind schedule and I also don't want to force players to play late at night.

Yeah you're right. So we finish 64 all on saturday then, and hype it up as much as possible when finals comes around.

Cool we will do a few recorded mms if you dont mind :)
Also if anyone wants to know here are the rules from the Apex site.

Super Smash Bros. 64

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Competition Rules

Competition format is Double Elimination.

All sets with the exception of the below are best-of-3.
Winners Semis, Losers Quarters and Losers Semis are best-of-5.
Winners Finals, Losers Finals and Grand Finals are best-of-7.
Online matches are best-of-5, with Winners Finals, Losers Finals and Grand Finals best-of-7.

Set size is 64 cap

Game Settings

Mode: STOCK
Stocks: 5
Handicap: OFF
Team Attack: ON
Stage Select: ON
Damage: 100%
Item Switch: NONE
All Characters Available

Stages

The Starter Stage List consists of Congo Jungle, Hyrule Castle and Dream Land.
The Counterpick Stage List consists of Peach’s Castle.

First match of all sets is selected by a 3-stage striking system with the Starter Stage List. An impartial observer/tournament organiser flips a coin to decide who strikes first. Rock-paper-scissors is alright too, but it’s technically a skill irrelevant to smash.

The 64 Recommended Ruleset uses the stage striking system. In this system, players take turns striking stages from the Starter Stage List until only one remains; these stages are not banned and can be counterpicked later in the set.

Characters

All characters are legal.

Black DK (Right-C), Dark Samus (Down-C) and Dark Falcon (Right-C) are discouraged if Congo Jungle is the stage for visibility reasons. The opposing player may reset the match without penalty if they wish for a colour change. Taking or dealing any damage nullifies this right.

Low Tiers are all characters in B tier and below: Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Jigglypuff, Ness, Luigi, Samus and Link.

Set Procedure

Players select characters for first match. Double Blind Picks may be called.
Players strike stages.
The first match is played.
The loser of the previous match selects the next match’s stage from the Starter Stage and Counterpick Stage Lists.
The winner of the previous match selects their character.
The loser of the previous match selects their character.
The next match is played.
Above four steps are repeated if necessary.
General Rules

Game will played on console
8/10 minute time limit is put in place for all matches, especially Hyrule.
Draws are decided first by stock, then by percentage.
Disrupting your opponent physically or intending to disrupt their play will result in a warning. Repeated action will result in disqualification from the tournament. Observers who physically disrupt players are to be dealt with as the Tournament Organiser sees fit. Disqualification is recommended if possible.
Pausing is discouraged, and should only be done at the end of a stock, if at all. At other times, the pauser loses their current stock. If the pause causes the opponent to lose their stock, the pauser loses two stocks.
Extreme stalling is disallowed. Any reported case of such will result in a warning, followed by automatic forfeit of the match. If this is reported again, automatic forfeit is enforced without a warning. If there is no movement from either player, the player with fewer stocks/loser percentage is considered to be stalling.
Mages DQ is enforced. When a match is called, both players must promptly arrive. If a player is 2 minutes late, they receive a warning. At 4 minutes late, they lose the first game of the set and forfeit counterpick rights. At 6 minutes late, they forfeit the entire set.
Taken from the recommended 64 rule set.

I'd be down to MM some people as well.

For those who are just coming for 64, do you plan on being there all three days? Does anyone know if the smash64 stuff is going to be set up on Friday considering the event doesn't start until Saturday?

In case you missed it, we're planning on running an unofficial $5 teams tournament on Sunday morning starting at 11am. PM me with your partner's name to sign up. I'll collect entry fees during the 1v1 tournament.

Sunday morning may not work for some of us. You should think of moveing this up to maybe Friday night cause that would be cool.
