Post-Robocop, people have been asking me about the next big trip to America.

Turns out Pound 5 is in Mid-February next year. It's not giving us the best time period to save money, but it's the off-peak season, so flights are around $1100 from SYD/MEL/BNE to LAX. From LAX to the DC Metro area would probably be another $300. A benefit with the closer date is that we're more likely to take advantage of Australia's pending parity with the US Dollar, meaning expenditures will be ridiculously affordable.

I can afford 1-2 weeks of leave if there is enough Australian Brawl and Melee interest for this, and now there seems to be. If people would rather wait for Genesis 2 and Apex that'll be fine. I'll be in Genesis 2 anyway, US Summer and all.

So yeah, I'm officially interested in Pound V, get on the bandwagon, fellas!

PS - Sorry Plank, my own tournaments have better locations than yours - imagine if the Hyatt was in the Australian version of downtown SF/NY instead of Arlington -- cus that's what we had

Even though there will be sales later down the track, the costs for getting to Genesis 2 atm are way uncool, at $1900.

BS, my venue is the best venue ever. "arlington" is just a suburb of DC, its literally right across the bridge from DC (a 2 minute metro ride) AND it's 23,000 sq feet with $100 hotel rooms instead of the standard $350

IM CONVINCED THIS CANNOT BE BEAT.

i forgot australia flies to west coast then to east coast. im used to europe that has to do the opposite.

i can prolly arrange a 10% discount on airtran or something, although i doubt that even goes to australia XD

Bruh, I've been to Arlington and Alexandria before, nice cemetery. Sorry pal, you can call BS, but I know what I'm talking about  Tourneys here tick all the boxes you've ticked (24 hour venue, cheap hotel rooms within the event space, a **** nice event space, a bar, outdoor balcony/seating lounges, etc). We have a great amount of floorspace to function for 270 ppl, and our venue is annexed to several of Melbourne's largest nightclubs, bars and is also the point where all of our public transportation lines merge. Melbourne is also a 24/7 city (compared to DC). The setting we have absolutely trumps Arlington. You can walk outside the venue here and access hundreds of things to do by only walking a few city blocks, at most.

Props on securing a nice and large space for Pound though, America's used to hosting in less prestigious digs. It's a lot like the MLG/Evo venues.

So let's not get ignorant now.

PS - Airtrain doesn't fly to Australia. Try and see if you can arrange something with Delta/United/American?

I think you'd have to run the unanimously best tournament.

So CAO would pretty much be undefeated here.

By players who have attended both:

"Rocky > Pound IV"

"Rocky > Genesis"

So if Robocop > Rocky, Robocop is the best ever!

'nuff said!

Australia's largest brawl tournaments are found in avcon/animania, with 200+ attendants.

That does not mean they were quality tournaments, their rulesets were so lolworthy which try to appeal to 'casual' players.

psh, try to run one with 600 people and keep it the same quality. it gets too hectic!

@zapollo i see, that is lame.

^ Try appealing to demanding Australian players that complain about everything. EVERYTHING!

hahaha <3 you Plank -- but in all seriousness, I'll try my best to come over and if you want some TO help, I'll be more than happy to assist.
