Well, it's like throwing a piece of meat into the lion's den. When there's a prize to get, some people go crazy. It doesn't help you can only get her at one store.

Which is why retail exclusivity sucks sometimes. But Target shelled out the cash for it. Who knows what could have happened if Walmart got her?

I work retail myself. The company I work for doesn't sell amiibo, but I have seen some people get really worked up over things. It's kind of sad people turn to savages for a plastic figure.

I've heard other stories too, including:

-In Australia, a man attempted to steal a Sonic Amiibo from a small child. Was caught, and didn't resist, as far as I'm aware, and just left.

-In the US, in a Target store, a man tried to steal a Yoshi Amiibo from a toddler in a trolley, claiming to want it for his daughter. The kid cried for attention, and his dad noticed. Dad came over to get the thief to leave his son alone, but the guy wouldn't leave. The Dad got pissed, and shoved the guy away. The guy started to fight back. The two got into a fist fight. The Dad was big and strong, the other guy was pretty scrawny and slow, so he got beat up. However, the Dad went overboard and kept beating him up after he stopped resisting. The whole store could see, and the manager called for the police, and both were apprehended. The manager escorted the child out to the police, to make sure he was safe. Don't know what happened beyond that.

Well, you're right. Look at Disney Infinity. It got sprinkled with Disney Magic, which made into a challenger to the Skylander's throne.

The amiibo have done so well is because it's by Nintendo. It's the characters we all know and love. But it's sad that people go to extreme lengths. I don't ever recall ever hearing people fight over other games' figures.

Really, hearing stories like these sound like something you'd hear about Black Friday.

I've gotta say, each of these waves is crazier than the last.
More frightening as people become more aware of the difficulty to get these.

The crowd mentality, and witnessing it in certain situations, really makes me understand how unhelpful the government is and how a militia is a practical thing to join. I cannot imagine what people are like in disaster areas that get no relief.... a mother fighting for food for a child, for example. The extreme is much more severe. What happens then, and what would you do?

The 'Murica & Petch era keeps on going as the Amiibo Cup Season 8 happened last night. Weegee made the finals again, but can't seem to close it out. Iron Woman saw very impressive improvements from her previous seasons. 'Murica failed to repeat as champion and fell deep into the standings. With Wave 3 out, the Amiibo Cup Season 9 will be put on hold until all of my new Amiibo come in. The competition & rules are about to heat up even more. Will the era end or will one of the newcomers come in & knock them off?

I was asked why Rosalina is gonna be rare, but the other Mario characters thus far haven't been by a friend. Here's my two sense on why they are doing it (excuse the Skype time stamps):

Because she's in a grey area
[21:28:36] Rosalina's Chiko: Mario, Luigi, Peach, Bowser (and Yoshi and DK if you want to count them) are characters that have been around for generations.
[21:28:47] Rosalina's Chiko: Literally everyone knows them
[21:29:12] Rosalina's Chiko: And they appear in nearly every game
[21:30:05] Rosalina's Chiko: Rosalina was a character that was intended to only show up in Galaxy, but got made a part of the main cast due to astoundingly positive critical and fan reception.
[21:31:04] Rosalina's Chiko: While she's really popular, she isn't known by absolutely everyone, as much as I hate to admit
[21:31:56] Rosalina's Chiko: She is a character with a huge fanbase, but nobody outside of that really knows who she is, unless they are Smash fans or something
[21:32:24] Rosalina's Chiko: So they make her scarce to get her fanbase rabid
[21:32:41] Rosalina's Chiko: Hence, the bum rushing you've been hearing about all day

I'd argue that they are making rare just about EVERY franchise character that they want to make more well known. Pit, Captain Falcon, Villager, Marth, WFT, Little Mac, Ike... the majority of characters who aren't already known to the main public seem to come into the game as rare.
