I don't think Paul is pushing the cockiness, he's just goal oriented. And his strategies are different than most lol. If he goes around saying "I'm the best, no one can beat me..." then we have a problem. But I'm sure his reputation and skill level will drop drastically when that does :p

Oh and Steven, something Forward told me when he came here. He basically said that every pro melee player has their own story of what they sacrificed to get that good. "I could have done better in school" or "I could have done this instead". Kind of makes you wonder huh?

Yeah, I was in the car with you guys when he said that. That's partially the reason why I made the goal that I did.

I will definitely allow Brawl to outprioritize all but two things:
School and girlfriend.

I'm seriously putting it on the line to get good at this game. I don't know whether or not you can comprehend that.

hmmmm, my goal on brawl is to be the best Mario fighter there is, and maby come up with the best fighting style, I change my fighting style on melee thanks to the CPU at LV 9, lets just say it well confuse ya, it did my friend lol he didn't know what to do:laugh:

Don't worry Paul, I'm not saying you are cocky, you are one of my closest friends and I'm pretty sure you're not that cocky if at all. I'm just saying that I started saying similar stuff to that when I took a downhill turn with my personality. I don't want another old me!!! I guess I'm just being overly cautious now...heh, yep, sounds like me!

Anyways, moving on from the cocky stuff...Hmmm...turns out, I have nothing else to say at the moment!!! Wait a minute...actually, Steven do you know when the monthlies will resume?? That is, after all what this thread was originally made for? They don't have to be right away, but just a question to think about.

Well, unfortunately we can't have the monthlies at Ninja Monkey anymore. At least, not unless we all pay the standard $5 an hour fee (which I assume isn't gonna happen). The Paseo Ninja Monkey closed down, and the Montgomery Ninja Monkey needs the business too much for us to be taking up time and space that would otherwise be used by customers (plus, the drive to the montgomery location is quite a bit longer for you west side people). So, the search for a new location begins. If you have any ideas, post 'em! Hmm...Davis mentioned Destry's house, which would be perfect, but then, that's up to Desty and his parents.

Well, when they charge $6 an hour to play games that people could just play at home I'm not surprised that Ninjamonkey isn't doing too well. Anyways, it appears that our best option for now is to hold the monthlies at someone's house. I have some ideas in mind for a venue; I'll keep you guys updated.

Cool Paul. If your ideas don't work out, maybe we could just hold the monthlies at different people's houses, and switch off every month or something. Does anyone like that idea?? If not, then we can see what Paul has up his sleeve.

Crap!!!! I just remembered that I still have 8+ hours of gameplay time left on my account at Ninjamonkey! I wonder if my account still exists or if it disappeared along with the Paseo Ninjamonkey. Either way, that just isn't cool.

Rules are scarce, but I read/think that the matches are 1 minute timed (loss), in-game tourny mode (loss), and no BYOC (loss).

I'm assumming starting roster & stages, 1v1, and all items on medium appeance.

In order to participate in a tourny you must have the game reserved at the Gamestop/EB that is having a tourny.

Those rules are stupid. Basically, every match is 1-minute and the player that dies first loses. That means that they are 1-stock matches!!!!? The Grand finals aren't any better...five minute matches with the TOP SCORING player becoming the champion. Also, players HAVE TO USE the controllers that the store provides. They CANNOT use any of their own controllers.

I really don't know about this. I was thinking about going and participating because I THOUGHT winning the championship in April would have put my name on the map early. But with rules as stupid as those the competitive smash community isn't going to take these tournaments seriously.

Hmm...what strange tourney rules. Pretty ********. Whatever...I'll probably do the same thing that Paul is doing, for the sake of not staying up til 4:00 in the morning playing a tournament due to school and track practice the next day, and because the rules are stupid.

I'll do it for the hell of it too. Not too many national opportunities to play Smash are offered to me, so this could be cool. And hey, most of them haven't even played Brawl yet. Face owning commence.

I might've gone if there was any sort of prize for winning the store tournaments, but you have to go through four levels of travel and gay-*** to get anything.

Don't talk to the people at Gamestop. They don't know ****. It doesn't matter where you go. You don't have to reserve the game or anything. Read what it says on the **** site.

I'd love to pwn face, but I agree with Steven, it is four levels of travel and gay-***. You have to pay for travel from round 1 to round 2 and from round 2 to round 3 and it doesn't even say where those will be at.

They provide you controllers, first round is 1 minute, second round is 3, third round is 5, and the last round I think is 5 best two out of three.

And for those of us under the age of 18... one of our parents will have to follow us ALL THE WAY TO SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA if we make it that far. That won't be savve with anyones parents, I don't think.

Fail.

I was really looking forward to winning $5,000 and a plasma TV =/

Hey, its got a cool prize if you win first dude, a plasma TV with a nintendo wii system and hell of a lot of games and 5,000 dollor. MY GOD thats alot of stuff. Its just a drag that my Los Lunas Gamestop is not holding it and its a little late for it to start, 10:00PM. Hey Kash what are you going to do with the japans of SSBB when the game comes out here, and one more thing, where do you guys get thos cool pic in your signature?:confused:

Sig shop is where I got mine. And I'm going to go to it and just see whats going on with it. if its a bunch of **** talkers I will go win it :D If it doesn't look worth my time then I'm just going to let everyone else win
