ya ill be attending this tourney, but only for free play and doubles. i can help organize it, i never do singles so usually im helping out with brackets and yelling at people to play, like in previous tourneys i attended lol.

ya, i can team with you arthur, only cause its no money, and allan isnt going (i usually team with him) :p

also, dafuq door fee? uofc charges for room rentals or something? or is that just going towards drinks and whatever?

edit: oh man, ceo tourney stream this weekend, dunno if i want to go to smash anymore
Ok first off, this tournament has little to nothing to do with VGC. Yes the rooms cost money to rent, that's why they need a door fee.

Also, you should MM back your money from this Matt guy, or we can go around MMing other doubles teams lol

IMO wobbling should be legal because it's legal at nationals BUT MAINLY because nobody is at a level of skill where it can break the game
If someone here could 100% guarantee a grab and then start wobbling it might be an issue because it could change tournament results, but I don't think it's going to change that much at our level of play

And I have absolutely no mode of transportation so I can't go anywhere

Hey guys, It's Matt. Looks as though I'm not going to be able to make it tomorrow. Unless my friend's unreliable co-worker can miraculously cover his shift, It's not going to happen. Really is too bad you guys only host 'em once a month. :/

Matt, I'd like to invite you to come Sans-friend. As we will not bite.

I assure you, you will enjoy yourself and you very much should come.

Besides I want to meet you, and I challenge you to a money match, because you believe you can beat us I've heard =P

Oh and, Ben, when do the events officially start tomorrow?

I'm just curious cause people have been asking me, I assume despite being open at ten, most events won't start till noon like usual?

Yeah, I really want to. It's just I'm only 16, and going across the city to hang out with a bunch of adults, alone, isn't the best idea haha.

if something happened like a controller was accidentally taken that would be big drama.
nerds in a room playing video games, not really any danger. getting to an fro is another matter, i cannot guarantee your safety of course.

It is very worth the trip to play this game with other people
i hope u come, i need more people to be better than:troll:
4stock from wobbling?hmmm
even +1 stock from wobbling is significant mentally

I was young when I joined, I can assure you there is still a fairly young audience as well.

As much as "STRANGER DANGER" exists, we really arn't a threat. I understand if you decide not to come, but you really shouldn't worry as if anything, you'll be in the UofC, as well as around a bunch of people most likely smaller and weaker than you.

Well I totally would if I knew you guys already. It's just that it's across the city, and at the moment, you're all complete strangers.

And it's pretty obvious you guys wouldn't really be a threat. Unless you looked like DaShizWiz. I would crap myself in that case. But if I knew UoC better, I probably would come to be honest. Never been there before, either.

lol that was the reason why I couldn't go to Paul's tournament two years ago when I joined, especially cause his house is in the Lawn and I didn't know anyone
even going there now is frikkin annoying cause I can't leave too late or I'll get stabbed

But yeah... most of us are Asian, if that makes a difference. Most of us are also university students.

But be like what I did and make your first tournament one at the university or at a proper venue and not at someone's house if you feel better.

Also if you don't know the smash community yet in person... no offence but the chance of you beating anyone right off the bat is very very slim.

Paul plays fast, which is visible. Allan or Brad play smart, as in they'll let you do stuff and then mess you up because of what you did. And in my opinion and experience, it's much harder to fight the latter.

Yeah that's right I put Allan and Brad in the same sentence with no negative connotations for either side. Get at me

Matt hasn't even met any of us in person, yea we are nice but the buddy system is best for these kinda things. It is a sketchy situation at that age. It's no worries if you can't come this time, you shouldn't do anything your not comfortable with. Check when your friends off work. The event starts at 10 and runs until 7 so maybe you could both stop by at the beginning or end to introduce yourselves.

@Tyson, show bro, theres ppl that'd like to play you for sure. Maybe bring your laptop and watch the stream @ the tournament room? It's pretty nice and you could hit up the food court for snacks.

@Brad Yea I plan to start events at 12. This doesn't mean I want ppl to start to show at 12 tho, try to come earlier, or I will be ronery (I'm gonna try to be there for 9:45, as I'm going to be moving all the TVs).

@Arthur lol dangit with the smash theorycraft! Just say hi and introduce yourself to a human being nicely. To be fair tho I think Pauls Falco would be hard for a newbie to overcome

I officially decree wobbling to be fine, just STOP TALKING ABOUT IT LOL. Anything besides that crazy freeze glitch thing is fine by me.

I'll talk to my buddy and see what he can do, because I'm pretty sure we both work in the evening, so maybe we could come by from 10:00-2:30 or something. 'Cause yeah, I'd definitely like to meet you guys, maybe destroy a few of you in the process ;)

Alright Taste, calm down there haha.
Just for the record, I'm white too, although don't see me as racist at all. Asians are boss

Morning would be for sure the most chill time. If you can make it out from 10-2:30 thats a HUGE amount of time and you for sure should come. I'd come out for 2 hours even. Still, a jobs a job so don't stress out over it.

I grabbed toonies from the bank for money matches tomorrow. Bring it fools I am currently in the black for mms

Alright Taste (Still haven't gotten your real name), just talked to him, and it looks like we're good to go. I'm guessing we'll be there around 10, maybe a littler sooner or later depending on how fast transit works. Would probably be best if you have a professional representative escort us to the gamin' room, so I don't get lost and die in the University. I'll keep in touch via text tomorrow morning though.

lol well I don't think it'll be too dangerous, tho you might get mauled by rabbits. Either I or someone else can meet you at the train station and walk you over. Just text me. (Name's Ben)

For you reference, a UofC map.
http://www.ucalgary.ca/map/files/map/CampusMap_2011_08.png
The train station is on the bottom right and your destination is MH, second floor, above jugo Juice.

Basically, once you get to UofC station, you can walk straight to MH. On the second floor is the food court as well. We'll still send someone tho

We ain't all about the $ Matt, so don't think u have to play these guys for money. They're just super excited to be playing someone new.

Mr. Rush what equipment should I bring for you tomorrow?

Yeah guys, don't all try to take his money LOL. Unless it's an "Arthur money match" (25 cents). Don't worry about age, 16 is like high school level and we've had like younger kids attend tourneys before. No alcohol, drugs, or anything illegal obviously. Probably a good idea to stay in contact if you're actually coming because getting to Machall from anywhere can be a maze the first time.

Uhh I don't really need anything specifically..to make recording happen like last time. What's our TV/setup count?. I'll prob be around anywhere between 11..to 12 lastest.

Best bet for day parking is kinesiology. If your not there for the whole day then anywhere else is fine.

TY Ben for hosting, that Zelda ***** too much, MM lv 9
Daniel you played well once again as expected
Tom you gotta go to more smashfests to get better, but our team with your Marth was too good
Clarke you're improving slowly but surely, like the timing of the IC smashes and stuff
Brad you were pretty cool today, you made me realize I don't know how to play on Rainbow Cruise
Hansel your Puff is solid in Melee lol, spacing is 2 good
James HOLY **** F-SMASH 2 GOOD, STALE MOVES FOR THE WIN (literally)
Jake your Cochrane Falcon dittos are legit
Colin if you improve your spacing you'll get a huge advantage just cause of the character

Other random people who showed up today: Your guys' space animals are pretty good, they'll definitely improve over time

Non-whites > whites

Roy crew battle dittos ftw/ftl, that f-smash is scary when your recovery sucks ***

I'm probably not going to Lanified tournament, I'm spent and tired and smashed out of fuel

Shootouts... I guess..?

Ben: good stuff hosting as always. Haha playing you actually forces me to think a little. You'll be seeing more flip kicks from my Fox in the future xD. Also, smashfest for next Sunday ?
Arthur: GGs and good stuff in winning. Always bringing the good games and hype.
Brad: **** you for ****ing me up so badly LOL. ggs. Probably shoulda stuck to my Fox, though I would still loose badly haha. Nice GFs set too.
Tom: Dammit...didn't get to play you that much..lol.
Jake: Sick Falcon dittos haha.
Colin: Super chill guy, should play with other Falcos if you get the chance.
Clarke: Back to ICs even though winning with Peach is probably easier hahah...
Mo: You have really improved, I liked your patient play vs Ben.
James: MOTHER****ING MVP OF THE CREW BATTLES RIGHT HERE. UNSTOPPABLE.
Hansel: Seriously you probably can beat Melee players with your spacing.
Alex and Matt: Pretty friggin good spacies... tons of potential at your age.

Lvl 9 Peach *****.

I'll post vids when I have time.

Today marked the beginning of a new rivalry that will rock the fabric of the universe, a rivalry generating more salt than the waters of the Dead Sea. From this tournament arose a heated competition between two individuals, soon to be bitter rivals until the end of time. Today began the the rivalry between Ben and level 9 CPU.

He's probably moneymatching that ***** as we speak.

Anyway, shoutouts,

Ben: Thanks for hosting another awesome tournament. Congrats on winning your first match in singles. That Zelda is ridiculous with those crazy kicks. You bodied me in Brawl, so I need to work on that.
Arthur: Nice job winning! Your tech skill is amazing, and you've improved a lot. We'll see if you can take games off of Allan/Paul/Simon.
Brad: You're so chill, congrats on second. The Pokefloats game was crazy legit, and so was that Donkey Kong.
Hansel: We need to de-rust together sometime. Nice job finishing the crew battle for the minority. XD
Daniel: Didn't see much of that Sheik, but you've got a nice Fox too. Thanks for bringing your recording equipment and grats on third.
Mo: Crazy good Falcon with nice reads!
Clarke: That stage should be called Marth's Story. Sorry for the fsmash abuse. Your ICs are pretty good though.
Jeremiah: Your name is so legit. Keep at those secondaries! Hopefully there will be more Brawlers next time.
Tom+Colin: I don't know you guys too well, but hopefully Cochrane will come back and represent!
Kurt: Diploma prep is so much lamer than smashfests.

Finally, special shout-outs to Marth's fsmash. BFFs for life. Also to Allan for teaching me this cheap strategy even though I can't wavedash, and to the original white boy. Sometimes it takes a white boy to beat other white boys (except Brad's Ganondorf, that **** is OP).

That will happen, it just has to happen on a day where melee isn't more fun.

Brad you were pretty cool today, you made me realize I don't know how to play on Rainbow Cruise
YOU HEAR THAT ALLAN. OOOOH

It's not all about being serious, thats all that matters. Arthur you've been mad improving and thats something you should be proud of, just don't get caught up in improving physically, there is a lot of mental work to be done, and silly stuff like rainbow cruise will forever be an element you'll need to be prepared for if you want to take me down.

But hey, grats, I wouldn't have gone DK and given you a more gratifying finish, but I mean, you would've been so salty about the stages if I hadn't. Only fair.

Brad: **** you for ****ing me up so badly LOL. ggs. Probably shoulda stuck to my Fox, though I would still loose badly haha. Nice GFs set too.
I really enjoy playing you because you're unique. It's really an interesting match because I have to think a little bit playing you, you and arthur combined would be a scary person. But hey, I went in to the losers first round, I had to show some people that I ain't no scrub. Scrub is a guy that ain't get no love from me.

tl;dr you did great, I would've given you a more fun show like Arthur, but I had to make sure arthur didn't go running away after the tournament boasting too hard. Gotta keep them on a leash you know.
