everyone's saying it's dubstep though, but if it's electro, any other recommendations similar to it?

it's dubstep.
Lol tyler, lrn2genre

Despite popular belief, there is more than 2 genres of EDM. For some reason, people seem to think the only 2 genres are techno and dubstep. That is wrong.

You see, dubstep follows an irregular drum beat, yet Scary monsters and nice sprites has a kick drum every 2nd beat. The bass is also missing the cliche wobble of dubstep.

are you deaf...? there is most definitely a wobble, just because it's not cliche like you want it to be, doesn't mean it isn't dubstep. and dubstep doesn't need to have an irregular beat, i don't know where you got that from.

edit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AVomKZpXz10 i wonder if this is humanly possible

Speaking of electro, here's a fantastic local band: http://www.facebook.com/permalink.p...if&notif_t=wall#!/pages/Sun-Fuel/242605487917

"Dubstep rhythms typically do not follow the four-to-the-floor patterns common in many other styles of electronic dance music such as techno and house but tend to rely on longer percussion loops than the four-bar phrases present in much techno or house. " -Wikipedia

And, that's not a wobble in scary monsters and nice sprites. It's more of a distorted "aye" sound. Electro uses this sound.
