guys, it will be proven fake on the 26, if you don't believe my proof. but lemondrop does have a good point, but i still don't believe sakurai would say this before putting it on the site.

Please say this is true!
I'm not 100% certain of it.
The screen of Samus was only released yesterday, a bit too hot off the press wouldn't you say?
And I could create that myself, i'm hardly a graphicist. And Sakky is the most introverted keeper of juicy gossip ever, i'm not getting my hopes up, it's exciting nontheless.

You know, if you google search the interviewer, Carlos Doriga, not a single result returns. I'd imagine that the person interviewing Sakurai himself would have at least one mention on the internet...
I think I'll be going towards fake- a rather good one, all things considered.
... Also, I think they would have capitalized Hedgehog in the phrase "Sonic el herizo". But that's pretty small.
But the premise itself, them having created a sonic character already for testing and now waiting the most official confirmation that he will be a character is believable, though I'd think Sega would be able to answer it sooner than that- I imagine they'd have been discussing it before they were even asked.

Before anyone jumps to conclusions, I like Sonic well enough.

My only problem is that when Brawl goes online, and someone wants to go play online, do you know who all the eight-year-olds and/or noobs are going to want to play as? Sonic.

I'm not saying he shouldn't be in it. I know no good would come of that. I'm saying we need a few characters that would be exceedingly effective at beating noobs. Does anybody know what I mean? Kind of like Fox and Falco in Melee were designed for the such a purpose. I'm not trying to be harsh on any specific people, but people who come on with a character and pretend like they own the place are one of my biggest pet peeves.

Of course, that is what we have experienced players for, so maybe I just ranted for nothing. Oh well, I guess you could call it brainstorming.

I'm gonna say it again, but hopes this is enough.

A picture speaks more than words.

1) In regards to the Zero Suit Samus Picture;
Very often, Video Game Magazine companies are given exclusive photos to put in their articles directly from the developpers of the game. It's very possible that Club Nintendo recieved this image before it was released on the website (They do prepare these screenshots beforehand afterall...)

2) In regards to the Sakurai text;
As you can clearly see, this is a very bad scan of a portion of the magazine. The page is curved, which could cause many of the letters to become skewed

3) In regards to "Ventendo";
Perhaps its a different pronunciation for their magazine, or they could be making reference to something else.

4) in regards to the spacing
Because a magazine doesn't use the "Justified" word setting, means it's automatically a fake scan?

Lesson is, before you go around making accusations about this being Fake, wait for a second source of the information. We already have 2 people on Smash Boards who have stated in this thread that they are going to go out and buy the magazine and make CLEAR scans of the page. If they do this, and the scan shown here is identical to the scan shown in their magazine, you'll be left with nothing but your foot in your mouth.

What you can accuse of being fake, is the information on Sonic that Sakurai revealed to them. But then again, I would not call that necessarily "fake" information, but more like "false" information.

In other words...

SONIC IS THE NEW LINK.

Link users rejoice!

By the way, one strange thing is how one photo is far blurrier than the other. My guess? Someone's scanned in a legitimate article, and added new text and images.

About the "ventendo" thing, IIRC most of theyr magazines had odd gramatical errors, and since "v" and "n" are close to each other, it's very easily to make a mistake when someone is writing fast.

One isnt blurrier than the other. If you're talking about Pit that's because he's in the background.

My main concern is that they used a picture from YESTERDAY, in a magazine, it has to be edited, sent to print AND distributed. I'm doubting it a lot.
I still think the interview bit is very believeable though.
We have to wait for the scanners.

Looking at the Club Nintendo Forums.... it seems to be fake, or the forumites over there don't know anything.

Look:

http://www.clubnintendomx.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=55791&start=180

It's in Spanish.
How does that help us if we can't read it! haha

And the spacing thing.. I think your right.. Because from what I know (I'm not gonna find one of my magazines.. too lazy.

They make the spaces between words bigger so it will all equal out right?... *Goes to find a magazine*

I have a lot of hopes that Sonic will be in... But this is fake, Its not the first time it happens
(and it talked about sonic too), so be realistic...

Chibi you are trying to convince yourself, but this is FAKE, FAKE, face it.

Congrats to the guy who made this, now he's famous.

Yeah, the people there claim to know nothing about it. (actually, it's just one guy replying, but hey, it's something. I'll check for more replies later.) I'll check the magazine out and if it's not there I won't buy it, but I'll tell you guys. And only now did I began to read the text on the mag, and I would find it weird that of all typos they got the magazine name wrong.

Uhh.. not really. Honestly I couldn't care less if Sonic was in the game or not. In fact, I would rather Sonic was NOT in Brawl, but that is just my own opinion.

I just found people were flailing around the word "FAKE" based off such weak arguments. This is exactly the kind of thing that happened when Smash Melee was released, and someone showed a Screenshot of the Character Select screen. "Look at those character portraits, they aren't even aligned properly with the other rows, its such a bad photoshop job" (in reference to the clones on the side of the character screen)... and look what happened there?

Now, until a second source goes out and buys a Club Nintendo magazine and confirms/deconfirms the presence of the exact same article, I seriously feel that everyone should just shut their mouths about it, and instead of focusing on the article, focus on whether or not the information revealed in the article is real or not. This hasn't been the first time where we were "told" one thing, and given another when it comes to video game magazines and articles. Heck, Iwata himself even told us he was pushing Smash to be a Launch title with Online support (and we all know how that went right...?)

QFT again. I also remember those times. I actually laughed good and long when it was found to be true.

How about we wait for confirmation from those magazine buyers?

Chibi: yeah, Maybe the "Ventendo" thing isn't a reliable proof? THAT IT DOESN'T EXISTS?

And, No one will buy Club Nintendo Magazine, simply 'cause it cames at the beginning of the month, and Julys number didn't say anything about this. (I don't think why ppl says "Club Nintendo" said this, it clearly says VENTENDO)

Its up to you believe it or not, although it's Fake. I couldn't care less.

Imagine July 26 update: Sorry Folks, Sega wont let Sonic be in Smash. (GIMME A BREAK)

[Sarcastic]Yeah! Sakurai is gonna say that Sonic is in before Yoshi even it has a stage![/Sarcastic]

Edit: Heres Julys Number, I wont scan all the magazine, but it doesnt say ANITHING 'bout this (Again, This article is from VENTENDO no Club Nintendo... Did I said VENTENDO doesnt exists?)

See?

Now this is the sort of reliable proof you need to prove that the screenshot is a fake. The fact that it was stated that this article was taken from July's Club Nintendo, and in the actual July Issue there is no such an article is the best possible way for you to prove the validity of the scan.

That's all the proof I need to know that the scan is indeed a fake.
