I read the whole thing and Joe, I'm glad you notice your faults. I earnestly believe you will surely grow from here on out. Good ****.

you can't argue that lag is legit.

if it was we wouldn't make such an effort to eliminate lag from all our tournaments

activegamers in particular changed all their tvs in order to satisfy complaints about lag, even though they apparently believed there was no lag themselves
LOL Kira your argument is so poor.

Edit: And no *****, I'm not gonna waste time pointing out why your reasoning sucks because I just don't give a ****. <3

Joe that was a good read, I'm glad you took the time to write all that. It's interesting that your motivation was to "not be bad" rather than to "be good."

I think I've told this metaphor to other people before, but smash growth is like a staircase. you learn something, beat someone, and you go up a level. Then you stagnate for a while as you refine your new skill, then you hit a wall. This wall normally takes shape as a bad tournament, or even a single bad loss. But immediately following the wall is another big step upwards. People WILL have their bad tournaments, but if they don't quit they always come back drastically improved.

I'm sure you've noticed that right after someone has a really good tournament, they typically do poorly relative to their last achievement (hi kendrick). No, it's not a science, but it happens all the time lol

yeah that's what i was aiming for

i didn't want people randomly thinking i was a ****, hated macd, or was just mean/bitter/jaded

a win's a win, johnny, you at least deserved making it so close that a chance weak knee could decide it, even if you don't feel like you "won" it :)

Huh, thats actually different from what I thought. Personally, my drive to improve is generally because I want to be able to play and compete with my friends. It's a drive to have the game be more entertaining to me. [Unlike you, I never tried hard in school because I had nothing to prove and it was boring. I have a ****ty work ethic a lot of the time because I have no desire to be anything but ordinary.]

I would expect you to be more motivated by wanting to win, because your attitude and demeanor doesn't really reflect the self-consciousness that a fear of losing like that is likely to spawn from.

I have a want to want to win, so sometimes it looks like I'm more determined than I am

for example, I'll take everything more serious than it is because I want to convince myself that I want to win, when someone else would just pull it out in the clutch and feel great about it, I'd imagine

I'm not genuinely afraid of losing (most of the time), it's only under specific circumstances. Like whenever I play oscar, it's more serious than anything, which gets dumb because i psyche myself out of it sometimes. What frightens me most is stagnation; sometimes I don't have a burning desire to improve, I just don't want to NOT improve =\

I'm working on it though haha
adding new stuff to my game, focusing on different parts of a matchup in friendlies

the way i see it is similar to what dave said. you just always gotta learn something new and get better. so find a specific techskill (or particular read) and just get really good at it but not become obsessed with it. and just keep doing that. though i dont like the word wall.

feeling defeated when I went to bed two nights ago downstairs while people were still playing, improving and growing and enjoying themselves. I knew that if I really wanted it, I'd be staying up playing, trying to prove myself. Instead, I went to sleep.
this is an awful way to think and not true at all. you need to take a step back and relax

and re: the lag issue, it's obviously unfair because while both players deal with it, no two players deal with it equally, therefore making it a battle of who adjusts better to lag, not who the better player is

Hope it's not too late for shoutouts

TheLifeRuiner: Man, so much sweet Ganon-on-Samus action.

maple: Wow, did you get bored ****** me in all those friendlies? You're too good. :D

jkun: Thanks for those tips. Hopefully I'll see you and the rest of the 949 guys soon.

that guy who played ganon in those doubles friendlies: Are you emerican? Your ganon was fisting mine so hard.

mango: I saw that.

to everyone who ***** that noob ganon: I'll be good eventually. You'll see. I'll actually win a tournament set one day. :p

joe just beat castlevania as a vacation

i thought i was sequence breaking

i wolf jumped across to the clock tower, got the gorgon shield to drop, then jumped up and got hit by a medusa head at the apex of my jump to push me up some stairs

then i learned you can wolf dash on stairs to get a big jump :(

but **** i felt accomplished :D

i got the bat and the mist (kind of wack hidden), and now i'm going back to the parts of the map i know i need them for

what really sucks is that during the nightmare sequence in the caves, my game freezes because there's too much dialogue :(

it's optional, but you get an item for going through it I guess, so that sucks

i havent gone past killing the crow boss

dude i used basillard for SO LONG

that **** *****. its a tiny dagger that u can spam really fast. theres no range, but if you hit an enemy they go into hitstun so it doesnt really matter. just be courageous like Roy players and get up in their face. and when you are past the apex of your jump it angles down, like his demon dive. mad useful. then i got a rapier to drop and it has a hadouken command. then i bought the damascus sword.

i was dual wielding swords, but i just got the shaman shield and the gorgon shield (WHICH IS AN ACTIVE HITBOX!!)

i love trying to get past things even when it's fairly obvious you need something else to do it

like the hall with the spikes on the floor and cieling, i kept trying to do hellfire as far as i coul through it, then turn around midway so the spikes would send me backwards towards the way i wanted to go. eventually i got pretty far and it said "mist could pass," so after i got it i went back asap to try and get through. only to find out you need bat lol

it was so fun trying though

Johnny - you've imporved so much, so crazy you are with falcon especially against foxes. Good stuff against replicate in doubles

Gurbir - Brackets were tough for you =(. Thanks again for letting me use your controller.

DEHF - your falco is so slow that it's weird. Doesn't spam as much as other falcos

Alex19 - your fox is crazy technical. I need to practice against you

Fiction - You choked =(. You'll get me next time. Last hit on mute city ftl

Lucky - your fox is tooo good.

Woah, I just got some insane craving to eat seared tuna from reading the last page of posts.

I cannot figure it out for the life of me how the 2 are related.
