We all know the landing lag frames of a short hop dair will end if you time it well, but if it auto cancels, why can't you short hop dair and land on the edge? Wouldn't all of the immobility frames be gone, therefore allowing you to grab the edge?

Could have sworn you could...... I'll test it after my friend gets off of GTA:SA.

EDIT:
Do you mean auto-cancel from coming up from the ledge? Or going from the stage to the ledge?

Some of the ending lag frames of Ganondorf's D-air are autocancel frames, but those frames STILL count as ending lag in the air. You are not allowed to grab the edge during ending lag.

Landing is not identical to grabbing the ledge. There, explained.

Autocancelling happens with one but not the other. There isn't a "why?" other than "why was this the design choice?", which can't be answered.

It's like asking why you can't walk out of the IASA of Marth's dtilt or Falcon's ftilt.

The closest thing there is to doing so would be buffering a gerudo back towards the stage. If you're close enough you'll just immediately grab the ledge, with the start up frames of an aeriel gerudo canceled out. Also works with ledge-drop -> DJ -> Uair/Bair -> Gerudo. Do the ledge-drop by tapping back though, to avoid FFing and messing up your timing

autocancel doesnt mean there is no lag after the entire thing
think of it this way
frames
1
2
3
4
5
6
7

from 1-3 there is lag, frame 4 is no lag, frame 5 6 7 is lag. just an example, but thats how it would be

you can flipman any aerial, you just end up with lag out the *** for fair and dair.
I just wanna make one thing clear...
"Flipman" is the term for a lagless ledge->stage UAir, and UAir only.

BAir can also be performed ledge->stage without lag, yes... But it's useless.
