Yep. Playing some Brawl this weekend cause I was bored. You know, trying to get that 100% complete. But, alas, I pressed the R button, the button I use for shielding ALONE, and...it does not work.

I've been trying to find a triwing screwdriver, but it's kind of rare, so I guess I'll order one from ebay or something. See, this controller is important to me. I've got my name on it, used it since the beginning of smash, and it's finally conked out.

No, I cannot use the L button, or any other button for that matter. It'll just set me back trying to adapt after about eight years of using the R button.

On the bright side, I reacquired my flash drive, which has some notes on my personal writing, so I can continue writing after several months of...smashing alone.

Thank you for listening to me being sad. =( Also, if you have any tips on fixing the controller or getting a triwing screwdriver, it would be appreciated. The problem is that the R button doesn't click when pressed, it just kinda...squishes.

Do what I do. Throw your controller into a wall and hope it works after that.

/has had the same controller since he got the Gamecube on release date. It has never crapped out on me.

I've only ever owned 2 controllers, but one mysteriously went missing one day...

Re-learn shielding with L.

lol Never. I'll never use L! (in other words, I'll just buy another controller).

The throwing against the wall thing might've worked, but this scenario, I don't think it would.

♥ My post count is my age. Deal with it.

Learn L or $30.00 plus shipping and handling.
I'd go with L.

You could just leave it alone for a while (like a week) then come back to it.
And then cross your fingers and hope that it works.

If you are just going to buy another controller. I suggest saving your money and throwing the controller against the wall.
Make sure that you also record yourself doing so and have unfitting music play in the background.

Unneeded period in that sentence SuSa.

throw the controller against the wall if it still doesn't work well, not like it mattered because it was broken anyway.

or use the L button, why R to shield?
who uses R?

I'm the type of guy that, if he wants something, will do pretty much anything.

"Want your R button back? It'll cost you your left nut."

"Sure, k, take it."

See?

Yeah, but, throwing it against the wall won't fix this. And I want a triwing screwdriver anyway so I can mod the controller, take the springs out of the shoulder buttons.

Also, threw it against the wall. Nothing new.

You can buy a new one on PlayAsia.com OR check your local Play 'N' Trade store to see if they have any controllers like the GameCube ones. I'm not talking about MadCatz here or whatever. I'm talking about controllers that look exactly like the GameCube controllers but don't have the Nintendo logo on them. I bought one and it hasn't crapped out on me yet. I must've had it for at least six months already.

I fear that my controller is going to reach the same fate soon. The R button just doesn't feel right. :/

Its better to buy a controller on eBay, Trust me, I went through the exact thing. I bought a used one that works like new for 15 dollars total.

EDIT:
How did that period get there?
That's how I lost most of my controllers :p
