Naw, that would be too confusing to have 2 screens. In smash going off screen usually means a KO, if you fly of the side of one screen do you end up on the other screen or KO'd?
lol..u obviously dont kno nething about system linking...if u system link...both tvs r gonna b showing the same exact thing in da case of ssbb...both tv screens r gonna have all 8 players on them...the reason for having 2 different wii's and 2 dfferent tv's is to support the 8 different controllers...since each wii will most lkely only support 4 controllers each...but like i said...bot tv scrrens will be showing the same thing..so 4 people will be looking at 1 tv and the other 4 at the other tv....peace

LAN play, perhaps? Think MK:DD and Kirby Air Ride, and whatever other GC games had LAN. I don't see why Brawl wouldn't do it.

Okay well put it this way a game system is a computer how many input devices does a computer usually have 4 maybe 5 at most. Adding too many input devices means too much info is flowing into the machine and it has to process it all and output it onto the screen. The Xbox 360 can't do that and it is a computer. MAaybe the wii will have more power than the 360 but the likelyhood of supporting 8p is unlikely.
P.S. i know what i'm talking about i have the certifications from microsoft to prove it.

Exactly, perhaps te most they could have 6 players tops.It could be possible, and the games could still be even, and team battles would be fun.3 teams.

Maybe they'll have to scale back the graphics. But I doubt 8p LAN would kill the Wii processor. MK:DD did it fine. Kirby Air Ride had 8p.

I HATE how people always argue, " no it can't be done because there can only be 4 human slots" because who cares? they could make it 6-8 characters, and only have 4 playable to humans, and the other 2-4 ONLY available to Computers..and plus if you don't like it, don't use it! It does not make the game worse for ANYONE , it just makes the game better to some people, who want more than4 cpu's to fight with. :)

Or LAN play. A few Gamecube games WERE capable of 8 players via LAN.

Also, you could do 6p against CPUs in Melee, via AR.

those games didn't have the graphics that the wii will have. they'll have to sacrifice resources going towards the graphics to make 8p possible, and i doubt that they would make that possible. On my Psone i had a multitap and it supported a couple of 8p games, don't mean they were good.
In other words has it been done be4? yes should brawl have it? No. too much possibility of lagtime and too many people on screen.

They didn't have the graphics processor that the Wii will have either. They pushed the gamecube processor to it's limit. This is close to launch, so it won't nearly be the best the Wii can handle. And if you don't like it, don't use it.

Whoa getting a little fiesty there aren't ya?
Anyways, I know a think or two about computers being that that is my line of work and I have a whole bunch of certifications under my belt. The wii can handle intense graphics and high animation, but 8p is too much action. Is it possible sure. is it likely no. Most people who play online games with thousands of people suffer from lag, and those are high quality computers with rediculously strong video cards, but eh...

a fun thing wouldbe 4 on 4. or 6 on 2 and so on and so forth. my point is it would be a great OPTION, not something you would always have to play every single time and would freeze if you tried.

if it could be done effectively it would rock...well maybe not 8 player. But i think 6 player is a nice number. Do it like Halo2: One Wii player per console. Then the camera always centers around you. 6 player would make stages like hyrule plausible and much more amusing. I personally would also welcome 3v3 teams. It would be interesting to say the least.

While it's pretty much confirmed it's 4 players and less, maybe they meant per console.
Possibly.

I think 6 players online could work, if it weren't six Wiis connected, but rather multiple people on a console, such as three consoles with two people each, or two consoles with three people each.

And in certain situations in Melee, (Such as Multi-Man Melee. You could also access it with the AR, but it couldn't be 6 players even then) there were six characters. Five of them being CPUs, one player. If one Gamecube could run this with the only problem being a squished HUD, I think the Wii could handle 6 players online, if it were from 2-3 (maybe 4) Wii consoles.

About stages, some stages in SSBM would be big enough to support 6 characters, such as the Temple. And I'm guessing there will be some Brawl stages about the same size.

As unlikely as it is now, I think 6 players online 4 offline would be good.

But I agree that 8 is madness. 300 would be Sparta.

whoever said system link, why would they do that, it would be pointless. They only do that with split-screen multi-player games so they can get more screens (hence mario kart double dash and kirby).

Yeah and the site said 1-4 i was wondering why there was this whole arguement to begin with...

"Game Experience May Change During Online Play"?

a) Where does it say that?
b) That's like saying on a plastic coffee cup "warning: may contain hot liquid"
