26 Bosses

I made a thread about this a few years back, but the players have changed so much since then that I think it's worth trying it again.

The goal of 26 Bosses is essentially to try to determine who is (currently!) the best with each of the 26 Melee characters, but with a slight twist: Each player can only be used once. In some cases, this means that a player won't be assigned to their best character, but instead to a worse character that they play better than anyone else. For example, some would conclude that Chu Dat is better than Wobbles with Ice Climbers. However, Chu is also one of the few players to use the low tiers well, so it might be better to assign Wobbles to Ice Climbers and Chu Dat to something else.

In other words, what is the group of 26 Players that will collectively provide the most overall skill? Active players only.

First, I'd like to point out that Wobbles has been better since at least mid-late 2009. Anyone who considers Chu are just blind fanboys.

I elected not to give answers to characters who's metagame I'm unfamiliar with. Mango has retired his Jigglypuff from singles play, and even beforehand, Hungrybox was arguably a better Puff than Mango (And still is), but Mango was just an overall better player.

I think Mango should go in the Fox slot.

He'd be wasted on the Jiggs slot because of Hbox like you said, so he could either go in Falco or Fox. In Falco he'd be replacing PP, and in Fox he'd be replacing Jman/Lucky. It's close, but it's probably a stronger lineup with PP in it at the moment.

CF is a weird one. Darkrain won the falcon tournament at P4, but sometimes performs significantly worse than the other Falcons in some matchups. Darkrain and SS also don't seem to be very active lately. Idk about that slot

Mario can't go to Mango since he's used already, so it should be... Boss or Eggz? Idk how good Eggz' Mario is since he doesn't seem to bring it out anymore. I don't think Green Mario is active anymore. Other Marios worth mentioning would be like Shroomed and DJN and they're used elsewhere.

Some other suggestions:

Ness - Mofo. Are there any ness players worth mentioning that are active now besides him? Hax's ness? lol
G&W - Bombsoldier.

Young Link - Vanz. Vanz's sheik and peach are insane but that one has to go to armada so... put him here maybe?

Mango should get Fox/ Marth/ Mario. If we give him Marth we can give m2k Sheik, unless anyone has a good idea of whom else we could give Sheik to...

There is Kirbykaze and Tope, I guess. Meaning Mango should prob get Fox.

H-box def gets jigs.

DK would go to Bum, but I dunno how active he is there. Maybe Rockcrock?

At least in the way I'm imagining a measurement of total skill - putting all 26 together in a crew, how hard would it be to defeat that crew in a crew battle?

Also as for falcon, I think it's a toss up between ss and darkrain. Darkrain is better at the ditto, he even told me it was his favorite mu when I met him at a local, but ss seems to do really well against top players like mango, zhu, armada etc.

im going off on a whim here, but i just thought of a cool idea: if you beat all the bosses, there should be like 4 players (like mango) who are just so good, after you get the badges you have to then play them!

im feeling my creative juices flowing!!!! /sarcasm to this post

but really, mango is hard to put on a spot because he's practically the best at all the characters.. but there's mains who aren't that far off and may know the character better in specifics

These are staples IMO. Armada should be placed on either Peach or Kirby. Fox is either Jman/Lucky, most probably Jman though. I've seen too few Yoshi's to determine if V3ct is the best or not, although he probably is. All of the other characters are either arguable (CF), I haven't seen enough of the players (Luigi), or I do not know any player that could fit the category (GaW).

That guy who almost beat Eggm's Fox with his Pichu (was it Unknown522?) should get the Pichu spot, though.

because he's bad. there are multiple better ness players available. i'd rather give ness to someone who doesn't know ness and can just play smash and adapt to ness.
