True story exactly how it happened.

Where was I....I was at a crossroads. Nobody near me played Melee anymore and I couldn't
stand playing Brawl any longer hoping for it to some how become.....something better idk. So a friend of mine who was in Florida at the time said he played some friendlies with Kyle(green mario) and some others and that they were deviating from brawl as well. I decided to see what if anything was going on in the Melee scene so. I youtube'd "ssbm" and clicked Upload date under search options.

I watched recognized Silentspectre's name and was like "whoa these guys are still at it." I watched the first match, I was like wow I can't believe I stopped playing this. Reloaded and the second match was uploaded. I watched it and what do you know.... WOMBO COMBO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Happened. Jumped out of my seat and freaked out! The next day I went out and picked up a copy of ssbm. A few days later I joined this site. Still haven't looked back yet. In a way I have everyone involved in the wombo combo and Brandon's channel to think for saving my smash life.

I remember perfectly when wombo combo happened.

I was in the peak of my competitive brawl days. I mean, the metagame hadn't peaked by then, and MKs weren't running rampant, so it was fun for the time being. I subscribed to someone's favourites, I think it was Gimpyfish, and the full match appeared. Cool, I'll give it a watch, competitive Melee is the shit.

Then, the end of the video happened.

I WENT BALLISTIC. Laughing uncontrollably at not only what I had just seen, but hearing the words of the crazy commentator (as I knew him lol) and people jumping on the mic. Just... just...

Kenny, you're the main person I have to thank in my life of smash, because, you introduced me into it.

I remember browsing youtube one day, and finding a video related to the wombo combo on the day of its post, I was amazed at what I had witnessed, and immediately went to grab my copy of Super smash brothers Melee and later found wak's advanced how to play guides, to which I studied like my life depended on it.

I also got your aim, and I live streamed myself playing and you told me what to do, which meant alot coming from a noob.

6 months into my experiance with the best game ever, I went to CGC @ SFSU X where I got to meet my favorite player of all time, Silent Spectre, and also lost every match I played.

Later I met some people in the Salinas Smash scene 1 year later, and I have been playing with them improving my game to what it is today. (which is pretty good from what people have told me)

And here I am now, in a highschool, converting my friends to play the game of a lifetime, Melee.

So thank you again, Kenny, and I hope to play you one day.

God Bless Melee.

people get so sentimental here. if melee makes you gay i would prefer brawl.

i also think im one of the few people who do not get impressed by the wombo combo. its a good combo but surely not the most epic thing in smash history

Why hasn't Poundslap been banned? It's clearly MikeHaggar, or just some dbag.
your some dbag. sorry but theres no other way to describe it. im free to leave my opinion and if i do not think the wombo combo is the most epic thing alive you gotta live with it. and dont ***** out like a ***** or compare me to some random dude that i dont even know, only because i said something good about armada. what i tried to describe as good as i could not to sound biased. still some ****** like you had to troll my post.

If you don't know Mikehaggar, then how did you know that he made the connection because of the Armada comment...?

it's an honor that you'd thank me like this. especially out in the public where people can see. *blushes*

but you don't owe any of it to me. it's to brandon and the community that i was never really a part of.
anything i told you to practice was probably something waffles or kfc told me to practice. i just happened to be the guy you talked to. it's a shame i haven't gotten to play you, man. now that i'm in texas, it's not looking too likely.

um... ima get on aim now to see ifyou're on. lol

Dance to express, not impress!
December 2008. I had broken up with my girlfriend so I was more or less an emotional trainwreck. To top it all off, I had no one to play melee with so all I would do is watch videos to take my mind off the situation.

Wombo combo happened and it got a giggle and a smile out of me.
