I think if SMT gets someone it would be the Demi fiend by now, he was always one of the bigger candidates from my understanding but the remake really feels like an up in his chances

The simulatenous worldwide release makes me think Nintendo is involved too, as Atlus NEVER does that. I think the chances are higher than they've ever been.Every numbered SMT title has been on a Nintendo console now. Honestly I think that combined with 25 years of support with two more coming next year is a pretty good argument for SMT's relevance and importance. There's no shortage of reasons and no shortage of possible reps. Demi-fiend's viable. Sword/Shoot/Summoning Messiahs are viable. V's Flower Boy is viable.
I feel Pixie and Jack Frost are musts given their significance as the first demon you recruit and Atlus mascot respectively (although Black Frost could work too, maybe as a cameo that triggers for a certain % over normal frosty), everything else is a bit harder to guess, but I'd say a fiend should be part of his arsenal as well, Matador or Trumpeter if you were to ask me. Last spot could be something like Thor, Beelzebub or Metatron, even Futomimi if they don't mind referencing something more exclusive to Nocturne.Speaking of the Demi-fiend's moveset, if demons and demon switching are incorporated in his specials which ones are the most likely to be chosen? For the sake of argument let's say there's a limit of 4 demons.
Nocturne's demon roster is super frugal compared to other games and a good portion of demons are evolution only, sacrifical fusion only or end-game tiered like the arch angels. They ended up with way more 3d models thanks to the Raidou games and other PS2 era ones adding more (including some pretty obscure picks who haven't really reappeared; Camael from SMT2 and Gashadokuro from SMT1 have 3d models in Raidou games and nothing else).I'd kinda like it if they added a couple new summonable demons in the HD Noc, but I'm keeping my expectations low since it's a Remaster and not a Remake in regards to 'new' content.
Feels like they should at the very least include Mara to be summonable alongside Raidou's demons since, afaik, none of the demons Raidou uses in his skills can be obtained in Nocturne.
I actually forgot Alice, Belial and Nebiros weren't in Nocturne. Feel like those 3 would make a good new hidden super-boss.
Honestly, I'd just be happy with them adding in the ones already in game, just unobtainable, like Mara or Mokoi from one of Raidou's skills.Nocturne's demon roster is super frugal compared to other games and a good portion of demons are evolution only, sacrifical fusion only or end-game tiered like the arch angels. Since it's a texture-up res rather than a whole remake the models are still low poly so they'd probably have to stick to similar low poly models for new demons. But they would really benefit from it.
Damn shame we'll never hear all the variants as they were meant to be heard. Guess this really is a retexturization and upscaling and not much else. Maybe 10 years from now we'll get a full on remake that does all the things we want it to lol. It’s likely that since the battle music had seven different variations depending on the phase of the moon that they don’t have the uncompressed originals anymore. I honestly wish they’d get one of their like, 8 composers to do a new set of battle tracks in that case because that audio quality is dreadful.
As far as I know, the only one that exists is the r/megaten one. You should check that out if you're interested. However, I gotta say there are definitely some ideological extremists in that discord lol. I haven't visited it in months but be wary I suppose. Is there an SMT discord by any chance?
Not really. They are part of the extanded MegaTen multiverse, but it's like Mario with DK or Wario, the games are extremly different despite having similarities.Would you guys consider the Persona series and Catherine to be SMT games?
It is worth the effort for the fact that when I google SMT stuff, I'd like to not constantly have to be forced to sift through hundreds of P3-P5 content. At this point, I feel like ATLUS games constantly make references to each other and sometimes get remakes which retroactively add/remove references to one another... Trying to draw lines of exactly what franchises are sub-franchises versus spin-offs versus spin-offs of spin-offs of a sub-franchise feels... not especially worth the time/effort.
That's just under the label of Megaten. They clearly didn't really consider it an SMT game past its initial planning phase.Well, TMS sure threw a wrench into the entire proceedings, even besides the crossover aspects. It doesn't really fit in anywhere.
Oh, I get how the fandoms can be awkwardly squished together, though the irony of r/MegaTen being the main gathering place of the SMT-only side of the fanbase is not lost on me either. The SMT name being slapped on P3 is kind of ironic, as it ended up boosting the franchise that ultimately overran SMT.It is worth the effort for the fact that when I google SMT stuff, I'd like to not constantly have to be forced to sift through hundreds of P3-P5 content.
It's the entire reason we have the "SMT" umbrella and the "Megaten" umbrella such that we don't have this confusion in the first place.
They self-reference all the time, that's true enough.Oh, I get how the fandoms can be awkwardly squished together, though the irony of r/MegaTen being the main gathering place of the SMT-only side of the fanbase is not lost on me either. I just mean that, if we're arguring that P1/P2 have a direct connection to SMT If story-wise via Tamaki, but P3 began doing it's own thing so at that point it is its own franchise, while Catherine isn't part of it as Vincent in P3P has a mole to indicate that it's an alternate-universe Vincent, and Raidou is referenced as being fictional within Persona 4 and now turns up in Nocturne, while TMS is only SMT-related in name only so it doesn't really count... I think it's safe to say ATLUS kind of just does whatever they feel like in terms of references, crossovers, and easter eggs. I don't think it's worth the time to decide what specifically span off of what. They're all ATLUS games and the ones where you summon folklore-based-beings are MegaTen games.
The simultaneous worlwide release thing might be something from Sega/Atlus, I mean, they're clearly trying to push Persona so it's not far fetched to imagine they want to make the same thing with SMT.The simulatenous worldwide release makes me think Nintendo is involved too, as Atlus NEVER does that. I actually think that demon summoning would be part of Demi-fiend's moveset but also Flynn's or SMTV main character. That said, adding demons to the moveset would be a considerably ton of work, so I don't know if we could really expect multiple demonsSpeaking of the Demi-fiend's moveset, if demons and demon switching are incorporated in his specials which ones are the most likely to be chosen? go for the most iconic/popular protags in cycling casts, so I'd expect Demifiend as Nocturne's the one people talk about more often than not. We got Solid Snake, not old man Snake, we got Cloud, not Warrior of Light, we got Simon, not Gabriel Belmont, etc.would they go for the latest main character, or the most popular one
