pretty sure many dropped smash 4 either cuz ultimate was the newest smash with some characters they actually wanted(k.rool, inkling, ridley), or partly cuz they saw the ****show that was the bayonetta finals a few years back, and realized just how broken a mess 4's character balance was.

Or it's just a simple matter of "hey this is the newest smash"

Also sometimes opinions change. Look back on yourself, and virtually any smash player, and I bet you can find a time where you hated on and despised the competitive scene cuz you believed the BS that "they're playing the games wrong" and that all items and stages are the way to go. Times change, people's tastes change, and so do their opinions.

Fair enough. I've been wrong about alot of things before. Even I was lured in by the new toy syndrome of Brawl and the story of Subspace Emissary. Was never really allowed to play it cuz my parents would never let me get a Wii. Then I got 4 on 3DS, thought it was amazing but then started playing PM more so I technically DID go back to Brawl by modding it into a less awful game.

don't get us started on the purist assholes that are like "ughHHHHHHH YOU GUYS MOD THESE GAMES BECAUSE THEY AREN'T MELEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Probably because they can't handle the alternative, being "We mod these games because Brawl kinda sucks."
