In all seriousness, my mentality is less about "less/more obscure" and more about "more important" (within the grand scheme of gaming history, not just fandom size) with a side of "less Nintendo related" - I believe a big gaming history crossover does still have room for more obscure picks (plenty of forgotten, unpopular, or outright bad games have great legacies, and a lot of really major games like The Sims or Tetris tend to be disregarded as "memes" in Smash fandom), just not a pick like Banjo who's legacy outside of the Nintendo fandom is almost entirely based in being ammo for console war pettiness.
