The Smashboards news team would like to announce a major change to its editor lineup. Our current managing editor Scribe will be departing from the team. Our long-time content manager Thirdkoopa will be taking his place, with Zerp stepping up to fill Thirdkoopa’s former role as Content Manager.

Several staff members have been hard at work refining our policies. Some of these changes include: properly updating to accommodate various rising laws about privacy rights, better establish Smashboards as a welcoming and inclusive space, and reforming our forum rules. We now have several updated and brand new Help Pages.

Smashboards is proud to present a new forum: Community VIP. This forum is read only for regular users and fully accessible to community figures (those new purple names you may have seen around). Once it gets rolling, be on the look out for interesting topics of discussion.

SmashBoards will once again support the European Smash Bros. community by sponsoring their upcoming major Syndicate 2017!

Smashboards, the world’s largest competitive Super Smash Bros. community, has entered a sponsorship agreement with Syndicate 2016, a multi-day international European event for both Melee and Smash for Wii U and the biggest Dutch tournament to date. Smashboards will make a contribution towards the TO budget and will help promote the event through its social media network.

The sponsorship is a continuation of support for the European Smash community, which has included deals with Sweden’s BEAST series and streamer GeekyGoonSquad before.

SmashEurope just released a follow-up article to last week’s global poll about the stock count for Sm4sh. The questionnaire ended up getting close to 5000 responses and the results shed light on various questions and assumptions regarding the preferences of players and viewership. Taken together, roughly 58% of the voters actively prefers 3 stocks against roughly 25% in favor of 2 stocks, with the remaining voters being fine with both.

I’m very excited to announce that The Big House 5 is teaming up with Gamers Outreach, who will be the official charity partner of the event coming up October 2-4, 2015 in Dearborn, MI!

Gamers Outreach Foundation is a Michigan-based 501(c)(3) charity organization that provides therapy and recreation to children in hospitals using video games! One of their specific projects (piloted at Mott Children’s Hospital of Ann Arbor) includes building portable video game kiosks for kids hospitals who are in need of bedside activities. Having personally worked with the Gamers Outreach team before at Gamers for Giving earlier this year, I can say they are not only some of the best TOs...
