Enthusiast Gaming Live Expo (EGLX) goes down this weekend, March 9-11, in Mississauga, Ontario. This is the second installment of EGLX, which hosted a tournament in late April of 2016 but did not host one in 2017. This year’s lineup consists of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Hearthstone, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Halo 5, and a number of fighting games, including Dragon Ball Fighter Z and Street Fighter V Arcade Edition, among others.

Always nice to see a Smash Bros. tournament in the doldrums of February. This weekend, Saturday-Sunday 24-25, is the second installment of Cen-Cal Standoff.

On the 15th of January, 2018, Otto “Silent Wolf” Bisno announced his retirement from competing in Super Smash Bros Melee.

Hugo “HugS” Gonzalez and Joey “Lucky” Aldama have just broken ground for the Team Dignitas esports organization by becoming their first Super Smash Bros. Melee acquisitions and their first fighting game players.

as the new year begins, the countdown of the Melee it on Me (MIOM) 2017 Super Smash Bros. Melee Ranking has begun in turn. As of this writing, players ranked 100 through 71 have been published. The list will end with the top ten players being published on the 16th of January.

DreamHack Winter, the conclusion to the Super Smash Brothers Melee tournament year for the past few seasons, is this weekend, 2-3 December, in Elmia, Sweden. With only 100 entrants, expect a fast-paced, European-centric tournament.
