I prefer wiimote +nunchuck personally. The gamecube buttons just feel wierd to me. Map your smashes to the D-pad and it won't matter that much.

I prefer the Wiimote + nunchuck because I don't C-stick, and prefer the index finger for B and the shield/roll button being more accessible, plus a better analog stick.
