A lot of people got into these sort of shonen (sp btw) Anime after watching Haruhi, so some people think of it as a pinnacle due to nostalgia
kinda like how ppl thought 1st season Pokemon was epic even though I could argue it really just sucked as much as the rest of it, but they don't know cuz most of them haven't rewatched it
I rewatched Haruhi R1 various times and imo it's not as exciting, and some eps are significantly better than others (Ryoko vs Nagato and the island eps are a lot more exciting than some of the other ones imo)
however I would say Haruhi isn't even a romantic Anime (it's not a focus anyway), so comparing the two is a disservice.
i just wanted to poke at ZMT for fun, it really wasn't a serious comparison.
