Really? You think? The director's the same guy who made all three of the Resident Evil movies, which aren't exactly shining examples of game > movie adaptations...
I hear this a lot though: "X game is perfect for a movie." But really...the only games I think that's true about are text-based games, like Monkey Island, Phoenix Wright, or similar point-and-click games. Most of the other "obvious" picks like Metal Gear, Halo, or God of War...
...Well, actually God of War would make an awesome movie, but my point is thatI'mramblingIknowgames are games for more than just their stories. If you took the gameplay out of Snake Eater and just spliced all the cutscenes together (which they actually did for Subsistence), it would be boring as hell.
When filmmakers adapt games into films, the medium they're working in doesn't let them allow the audience to interact with the work--so they have to take some licenses, which INEVITABLY ticks off fans. See: Silent Hill, Max Payne, Super Mario Bros..
Anyway.
There's always the animated Dracula's Curse (OMG WARREN ELLIS) to look forward to, I guess.
EDIT - Holy God this is a long VM. In exchange for burdening your profile with such rabble, I give you a little ol' kitty cat:
