  • In every game you play, there's lag. Wi-fi and offline are two different games.
There's always lag over wi-fi, no matter what you might think. There's always delayed button inputs. You're wrong.
You don't get better by playing wi-fi, you pick up bad habits. For example. Online, I lost to you. Because I'm not used to wi-fi lag, I regularly play Melee and offline friendlies. I'm used to playing the game lag-free.

Offline, that would never happen. I'd gladly MM you $10 if I ever see you at a tourney.

And yeah, I'm ****ing terrible at this game. Though I still have enough pride to admit it.
Until you beat a good Meta Knight at an OFFLINE tournament with Ike, then I'll take you seriously as a player.
They were probably scrubs if I can beat you pretty easily with crap characters like Mario and Ness.

Were they no-names? Was it on wi-fi?
You're missing the point. I was giving you advice.

Your Ike sucks, you'd win more if you used Luigi. Which was all I was saying.
You're making excuses by saying you did badly against characters like Pikachu and Kirby. I could easily say that you play like every wi-fi Ike, because you really and truly are terrible. When I say "All you do is roll behind me and jab", that's an undestatement. That's really all you did.

Your Luigi was better than your Ike, by a long shot. I actually enjoyed those matches because you seemed to know how to use him. I liked that, use Luigi more, less Ike. Ike is a trash character, and you and I both know you only picked him because he's from Fire Emblem.
I saved a few replays, you were 2 and 3 stocked roughly 10 times. I only lost once, and keep in mind, I SD'd at 0% because of the lag.

Seriously, no johns. I don't even use those, I'm just practicing with them. My Mario and Ness still held it down. You aren't very familiar with the metagame, or how to play this game at a competitive level. I'm trying to be as nice as possible, but you make every excuse possible.
I'm really bad over wi-fi, especially against WifIkes. And I 3-stocked you about 5 times.
You just get gimped too easily. You overshoot the edge with aether and it's a free kill for me.

    GG's, don't get edgehogged plz.
Lol, it's become too instinctive with most people to avoid doing. >.<
You'll just have to keep practicing and you'll learn. D:
I don't particularly enjoy getting edgehogged either, but it's totally legit, and so I do it too. Hey, nobody likes being on the receiving end of low percent kills like that that can really piss you off, but that's the nature of the game.

You should work on mixing your recovery so you never get edgehogged. Straked has never edgehogged my Ike, although he has gimped him. XD
Honey, please don't run your mouth on my boy Straked.
Edgehogging is not cheap and easy to pull off perfectly. If it's so easy for you to do, then do it.
Even without edgehogging, I'm pretty confident Alex would annihilate you.

Please don't insult other people's playing styles, especially if they beat you.
Either, use anyone. I'm adding you now, if you can play. I'll host whenever you're on.
Would you like to play a few wi-fi games? I need some Ike matchup experience.
How can you not get into the girls?
They're so hot. And some are really good. I'm playing through again and using Mia this time. As soon as her strength goes up, she'll be great. Right now, though, the three I mentioned are MAH GURLZ.
I'm also using Mist this time through, but.. I don't see it. D=
And Elincia's cool and all, but you only get her for like 2 levels in PoR, so you don't have anything to work with.
I think my party in the last level was.. Ike, Boyd, Soren, Ilyana, Nephenee, Astrid, Geoffrey, Kieran, Volke, Reyson, Elincia, Stefan, Nasir. Volke and Stefan were the only ones that weren't close to max level.
I love that game so much. I really want to play the rest.
    For serious.
Dude, HELL yes. Just give him the first Speedwing and then a Dracoshield and maybe some resistance... and he's PWNtacular.
I really really want to play the other FE games, but I've only done Path of Radiance.
My favorites are definitely: Ike, Boyd, Nephenee, Soren, Ilyana, Astrid. I think that's in order of most kills in my file, actually. BOYD's my boy. And those girls.. those are mah gurlz.
Well, Brett pretty much covered it, and I made a post in the marth topic...so ya...have fun dealing with the nay sayers holmes.
Well, Ike is kind of.. bad.. in Brawl.
But we Ike mains don't really care. We do our best to embrace it because we like Ike.
Besides, nobody gets good with Ike until they understand that he isn't an awesome character in Brawl.

Anywho. Example time. You weren't necessarily wrong in saying Ike outranges Marth. Not at all. But looking at that and making the match-up seem better than it is-- that's erroneous. Because several of our moves that outrange Marth are unsafe, and Marth's safe moves go further than ours. It's just something you'll get to understand more and more with better experience from playing better people.
I'm not calling you dumb, for the record. There's just a lot more knowledge/experience to gain.
By all means, though, keep posting. You'll learn more quickly that way. And sometimes you'll be wrong. Don't be afraid of that. And if you are, don't get too proud to admit it. You'll go far with an open mind. =]
Hey, don't be discouraged by all of what must seem like flaming in the Ike boards. You're just new to the boards, and most people on the boards play probably much more seriously.. like in competitive tournaments. And no offense to you at all, but we just know more about the game.

Meaning, pretty much, that if you say something wrong, we're sure to refute it. Just take it like a champ and don't be afraid to ask questions in the Q&A thread. We're all wrong at times. I actually didn't even post at all when I first started actually visiting the boards and playing for real.
