Oh that i do those alot, I think the only thing to work on more with him (or in general) is my dash dances. I always get hit whenever doing them, I can only bait my opponents with WD back into F/Dsmash, do you have any tips on how to improve DD? Sorry if I'm asking much.
    Dr Peepee
    Dr Peepee
don't do it too much so you dont get overfocused on it. work on wd/dash into shield to bait people more too since mario's range is small

Thank you very much, I'll train on that whenever I get the opportunity. In the meantime, I'll keep on encouraging you at any tourney you'll be in!
I believe congrats are in order for your insane Apex win. Secondly, how do approach players with a higher skill level then you (Well I mean "used to" since you are the best atm)
    Dr Peepee
    Dr Peepee
    thanks!

and it helps to study them, make sure you are at your very best. if you do those two things you can always surprise yourself and them.
    Hey PPMD,

I have something to ask you. I'm 15 years old, I go to school, I want to get into competitive Smash and I've been doing so for 2 months, my parents don't really like me playing video games (on a extreme level). I can't travel on my own and my parents don't bring me to locals, what should I do about it? I get worried about losing interest because when things go no where, I move onto something else.
    Dr Peepee
    Dr Peepee
well you (can) have friends that might be able to help out with that. you would just have to go see them more often to play or play at school or something like that. also remember that if you want to make it happen you will have to get creative. even if you don't end up sticking with melee that's a good way to approach problems.
Hey PPMD, btw big fan of your marth, speaking of marth, can you give me some tips when going against marth dittos. Thanks, and keep stacking it up!

Hey, Doc, got an issue here; how do you deal with 'off' days? You know, days where your tech skill just isn't ALL there? I feel like I set such high standards for myself despite being such an average player, and that when I can't do one bit of my game the rest of it just sort of unravels.
    Dr Peepee
    Dr Peepee
if something is off, practice accepting it and trying to understand what's wrong. don't overthink it, just figure it out. then keep playing and trust yourself to improve. if you don't, you might just need more practice or understanding so you can correct it naturally through playing through rough patches.

Hm, sounds good, thank you. I think I try and correct faulty play by trying to be perfect, and then it just snowballs into losing even more ground. I'll have to figure it out in the lab sometime.
Hey PPMD! First of all I'd like to congratulate you on winning APEX 2015, Second of all, I'd like to ask from you is a couple of guidelines on where I can improve my gameplay; short info on me is that I live in Stockholm, Sweden and that I picked up SSBM last year. I want to know HOW I can practice and become better at the neutral game & how I can adjust better towards tournament setups.
    Dr Peepee
    Dr Peepee
practice is essentially all of the basics and then understanding why each technique is important. then practicing doing them together. ill go more in-depth on my stream which is coming soon =)
What's a good way to stop Samus Missiles with both Spacies and What stages are good for the MU? (I know Dreamland is a bad idea)

    Dr Peepee
reflect them, bair them, jump over them. if you dont wanna camp then youll probably still be alright on PS/YS/BF and likely FD

Thanks Kevin, also good job at Apex.
Could you give any tips on dealing with Marth as a falco?
    Dr Peepee
    Dr Peepee
patience, lasers, shine grab. those are 3 big things that help
    DriftyX5
    DriftyX5
Thanks, I completely forgot about patience and I'll have to practice those shine grabs
A Month ago or so i told u to win APEX and you said ill see what i can do.

Bruh you're incredible. Idk if I'm one to talk to a god of the game but have some faith man. There is a reason why you've won several nationals dominantly.

Now how do i play neutral in the Falco ditto and vs Marth without using too many lasers (i don't use lasers too much)
    Dr Peepee
    Dr Peepee
    haha ya got me!

falco dittos you only need to get a couple lasers out then go get him. use platforms/FHs to get lasers out if his is out.

vs marth you're gonna need a decent amount of lasers. you can also try threatening like you're going to SH aerial him a lot if you want to not use some lasers.

    Thanks for the tips!

Congrats bruh. Mo money less problems right? Loool
Hey PP, I wanted to congradulate you on Apex... Glad to see NC representing again. I do have one question though... I main falco and I have many of his tech skills or whatever you would like to call them down, but I cannot seem to get the timing down for shining from below an opponent and then wave landing on platform. Any suggestions?
    Dr Peepee
    Dr Peepee
try doing it a bit slower so you can observe where you might be making the input error. being able to do it right then speeding up is always good!

thanks PP for the quick response. The only god smasher who shows he cares for his fans lol
Hey PPMD I have 2 questions if you don't mind :). 1. What does PPMD stand for? 2. And for Fox's Bair I find it hard to use A. I've been told to practice using A Instead of the C stick should I go back go using C stick or just keep on practicing. What do you think is more efficient? p.s I play on PAL if that makes any difference
    Dr Peepee
    Dr Peepee
    1. it's a rearrangement of dr peepee 2. if you're good with C stick definitely use that instead! PAL doesn't make a difference.
I might have (not) played you on FG now? When the connection began on the CSS the tag was drpeep... with the rest cut off. The connection was terrible though and it ended as a no contest before the countdown even finished. Do you play Pit?
PPMD, I always had your back man rooting you on. You're my favourite smasher of all time and I'm so happy that you were able to come back from a long hiatus, go through depression and still keep your reign as champ. If you ever come to Toronto for a tourney, I'll be there cheering for you! Here's to the best player in the world STACK IT UP STACK IT UP.
Whatever you did the last few months, it worked. You're so good man, keep it up. I want to see more of this in the future, you hear? But for now, enjoy your victory, you earned it!
3-0'ing with Marth? Good ****, I'd love to see him back in the light again, it's been too long. I figured you'd pull him back out and do wonders even after Armada was going 2-0 first set.
I knew you could do it pp!!!!

Congratulations on the Apex championship repeat PPMD! [was put here to not clog up this area as much]. If I can ask a quick question, do you use the c-stick, A, or Z for aerials?
    Dr Peepee
    Dr Peepee
A for aerials, C stick for some Uairs
    Hey PP,

Good luck at Apex! I have a question for you, what steps did you take to learn and practice DI? Do you need to learn to DI for every single hit if every character or is there a different, more easier way to do so. Thanks!
Annoying kid who always tries to get you to come to a tourney in charlotte here :/. I main falco and I am wondering what you say is the best approach to falcon and marth. Also wondering when you will be streaming. Last but not least WINNN APEX

dont have netplay yet but when i get it sure
Hey PP. Probably the most common question you get here but I think there's basically no Falco tech left for me to master. I can do *almost* everything, and fairly consistently at that. But I really don't have anyone to practice with at home. So, besides grinding out even more consistency, what's the most effective way to put my hours in? Thanks
    Dr Peepee
    Dr Peepee
youll want to start figuring out why each technique is really important. it may also help to break down frames for each technique and frame advantage on block too. video watching would help your progress as well.

netplay is rough but it could give you some opponents at the least.
Hey PP, I started playing smash seriously about 2 months ago and have advanced awesomely. But I have 1 problem: I main as doc. And a character like him has some major downfalls like approaching characters like marth, etc. I know your a falco main, but do you have spare strategy advice for a doc player?? And if not, do you recommend I start investing in a secondary? Thank you so much and good luck at apex!
    Dr Peepee
    Dr Peepee
pill a good bit, dash attack closes distance fast and gets under fair, wd dsmash or wd jab into dsmash or grab is really good. wd ftilt is good. just fighting for position helps a lot then marth can't abuse his range as well against you. put him in the air or off the level to beat him.
Hey PP, I have been playing marth for over a year now and i have been watching your videos to try and advance my dash dancing with marth, but i always get hit when i try to wave dash while dashing but when you dash dance you go unpunished. When you practice marth how did you improve your dash dance to make it effective was it just something that just clicked all of a sudden? thanks! Good luck at Apex!!
    Dr Peepee
    Dr Peepee
falcon in neutral should think about running grab and spacing nair, as well as using WDs to reposition himself and be ready to CC grab. mango and hax are great falcons to watch all around, but hax is more straightforward so he's probably a bit better for most to watch.
    C
    Cringe
thanks! are bair walls as falcon something to consider in neutral or to punishable?

when do you get your stream up?! i would love to donate and show my appreciation for answering all of my questions!
    Dr Peepee
    Dr Peepee
bair walls are good too for sure!

and i will make an announcement here and on twitter about that in the coming days i promise i got your back =)
    Hey PP,
I was wondering if there was some way to learn how to DI without the help of someone else. I feel as though there is a way to do so with the 20XX Hack Pack. Is there a way or can you only do it with someone else? Thanks! Also, good luck at Apex, I'll be rooting for you!
    Dr Peepee
    Dr Peepee
for just certain hits you can have two controllers. pause when getting hit then switch controllers to DI. for combos....there really isn't anything to help with that yet lol but you can figure it out from individual hits and videos a lot i think.
Hello, in your interview you mentioned Mango really destroying you in a series of matches. What do you see now when you fight him that you didn't before? I know it's practice and experience that helped you get there, but is there something that fundamentally changed about your play-style since then?
    Dr Peepee
    Dr Peepee
i had to improve at the game but he also let me and a bunch of other people catch up. i understand a lot more in general now so even if he was really serious again I could still figure out a lot of it I bet. i changed my play a lot to be more adaptive too.
hey i'm a pichu main i'd like to know what you'd do in the matchup to abuse pichu's lack of (a lot of things). so what do you generally think of or try to do in the neutral to convert into pichu dying? pichu's punish game is pretty straightforward so i'm trying to focus on what falcos think so i don't get wrecked by lasers and stuff as easily.
    Dr Peepee
    Dr Peepee
i would never grab so i could abuse my range advantage as much as possible. i would use tons of dair since it beats most/all of pichus moves and it can lead to combos. i would space dair. i would laser either at lower heights to keep pichu from moving or middle heights to keep pichu from nairing.
Hey PP, if you have a minute I have a thread on reddit and a post on smashboards about Marth's punish game on Fox on stages with platforms. I've recently started studying Marth videos and practice in 20xx to improve my punish game, and I'd appreciate your feedback.

i have slow hands what should I do
    Dr Peepee
    Dr Peepee
practice! also it's okay to be slower you can learn ways to be effective while slow =)
    Chinaux
    Chinaux
Thanks! Also, how do you get into the habit of NAiring instead of Fairing as fox/falco? Just practice it? I'm talking like if someone is in front of you and you sort of need to move foreward with it. I always fair on accident
    Dr Peepee
    Dr Peepee
thats all practice. helps to visualize your hands making the forward then back to neutral position on the stick tho
Hey PP. I started competitive smash about 3 months ago, and I'm really struggling with the mental side of the game. I main fox and I'd say I have pretty good tech skill, but I make dumb choices in matches. Any tips for good defense, not making bad decisions, and not choking during matches? And I love how you're one of the only smash gods who replies to his fans. GG. Go win Apex man.
    Dr Peepee
    Dr Peepee
good defense with fox is mostly waiting and then countering with FH late bair or dash back dash in grab or turnaround utilt. good defense also often involves platforms or just not making many actions close to the opponent.

the other stuff is bigger so itll have to wait for my stream!
    T0RN
    T0RN
Ok thanks! I'll be watching your stream then
I'm just starting to play Smash after seeing the documentary and watching lots of VGBC on youtube, I plan on hitting up tournaments soon and working on getting a lot better, but I don't know what characters to stick with, I really like Marth, Falco, and Ganon. Should I just stick with one and main it til I learn all the basics? And if so, how do I know which to go with?
    Dr Peepee
    Dr Peepee
i think its usually better to pick one but you can play them all until you figure it out. use logic and emotion to decide. so maybe who is good enough but you also have a ton of fun playing for example
    T
    Third Ball Paul
Marth was the most natural but I picked up Ganon/Falco becuase you and Bizzaro are my favorite, and I have more fun on those two, maybe I'll work on Falco. Thanks and win Apex damn it.
wow, I'm seeing your profile for the first time and you actually reply to the people on here with helpful advice and I just thought that was very generous of a man of your stature. You're awesome! Good luck at apex by the way ! wish I could attend.
Secondly, I will finally be going to to my first local tournament, and my second question is what should be my mindset when going into the venue? Should I try winning or should I go for something else? Also, good luck at Apex!
    Dr Peepee
    Dr Peepee
try to win while having a great time and remember learning is a process. focus on your next match only even if you have big goals. it'll help a lot!
