I want to be a world champion, but in order to keep myself sane I set smaller goals for myself. Goal right now is to get top 10 in a local. Next goal is to win a local. Goal after that is to win a regional, and then a national.

Take the board of the new controller and pop it into your old one. That way you don't have to let go of your baby and you can still have a working controller. It'll just feel like new, that's it. :D

To add to the above responses, don't get discouraged because you're not seeing improvement after just a week of practice. It will take you months, if not years to get good, so practice hard and take it slow. Learn as much as you can, hit the lab when you can, and keep practicing. Many quit...

The problem with the new controllers is not that the triggers are "stiff," but that they don't press in at certain angles. This is why some people say that they "stick" from time to time. The metal bar that others are referring to helps guide the trigger in when pressed at different angles, so...
