    I'm on the flipside, lol. I think about college too much and not enough about my current school.

    Any time you need college info (especially stats), tell me lol. I'll spout some stuff that I know off the top of my head.

    Yeah, your dad having a job at UCLA should help. That's legacy. What they do is accept you and then try to use it as leverage to get donations from your parents. And not only does that give them money, but Alumni giving rate is also factored into some college ranking formulas. So yeah, it should help.

    And yeah, Wash. in St. Louis is extremely hard to get into. I think it's ranked 6th in selectivity, behind CalTech, Yale, Harvard, Princeton, and Stanford. Amazing school though.

    Nice job dude. I go to a really competitive magnet school where most people have perfect 4.0s (unweighted), so I probably won't be in the top 10%, lol. I'm taking 2 APs and 2 post-APs this year though (and 1 AP last year and 3-4 next year), so my schedule difficulty will be high, but my class rank will probably not be too good. I don't think my school reports class rank though, so that takes care of that problem, lol. :bigthumbu

    UCLA is a really good school, but it's pretty **** hard to get into. So many high schoolers from California apply that they get to pick the very top students. So they usually only accept people way at the top of their class.

    From US News and World Report: 97% of UCLA undergrads were in the top 10% of their graduating class.

    It's obviously not as hard as getting into an Ivy or psuedo-Ivy (like Northwestern, Johns Hopkins, Stanford, etc.), but still pretty hard.

    Oh yeah, forgot about Northwestern. I might apply there as well; it seems really awesome. If I got into Northwestern I'd be super-happy. DePaul seems pretty cool as well, though it's somewhat of a safety school for me. University of Chicago really seems like a drag though. Sounds like a really good school but really un-fun.

    I'm looking at a wide range of them right now. Primarily:

    Stanford University
    Brown University
    University of Virginia
    Virginia Tech
    Colorado College
    Occidental College (Obama went here :))
    Syracuse University
    Mary Washington College

    Maybe also DePaul, Johns Hopkins, Cornell College (not to be confused with Cornell University), and Lafayette.

    I've put a lot of thought into it (probably more than most people), so it's a tough decision for me. My list changes constantly. Hopefully I'll know which ones I want to apply for by senior year.

    Haha, junior year is a real drag. Most amount of homework. Plus I gotta worry about colleges now. It's not that bad though.
