Go into the user CP, and on the selections on the left for things like signature, avatar, user data, etc etc, there should be something that says Group Memberships under the Networking group. Click it and you'll see the 4 sign upable groups, BRoom, Smash BRoom, Tournament Directors, and Debaters.
Just mark debaters as something you want to sign up for, click join group, it'll ask you to explain yourself, do so and then wait for one of the people who runs it to get on. It won't take long in most cases.
